[00:00:00] Uh thank you, Mr. Chairman, for yet [00:00:02] another very emotional [00:00:04] um hearing about a topic that we [00:00:07] constantly talk about and do little [00:00:10] about. I'm perplexed. I could understand [00:00:12] having differences on health care and [00:00:15] taxes and you name it, we have a [00:00:17] different all of us agree on this pretty [00:00:20] much. [00:00:21] What is going on in the Senate and the [00:00:24] House where no matter who's in charge, [00:00:27] nothing really happens? I said this when [00:00:31] I was chairman. So, here we are in 2025. [00:00:34] This 764 group um [00:00:38] how you say your last. [00:00:41] So, I want to acknowledge the FBI is uh [00:00:45] the District of Columbia um attorneys, [00:00:48] US Attorney's Office brought a case [00:00:50] against two people. Y'all familiar with [00:00:52] that? That's a good start, right? Uh [00:00:55] Cash Patel is focusing on this group. [00:00:58] Should they be domestic terrorist under [00:01:00] US law? [00:01:03] >> It's a good question, Senator. Um, I can [00:01:06] tell you even within [00:01:09] within the FBI, um, there there are [00:01:12] cross-programmatic, um, focuses on this [00:01:15] group because [00:01:16] >> I mean, do you think they should be [00:01:17] domestic terrorist? [00:01:19] If you're not if these people are not [00:01:21] domestic terrorists, who would be a lot [00:01:24] >> y'all both just told us that they're [00:01:26] trying to bring down society [00:01:28] by harming our children and exploiting [00:01:30] them. Why shouldn't they be domestic [00:01:32] terrorist? I I do know that they have [00:01:35] been charged in at least one case as [00:01:37] domestic terrorists. [00:01:38] >> Well, I'd like to put a list. Miss [00:01:40] Conference, are you okay with making [00:01:41] these people, this group, domestic [00:01:43] terrorist? [00:01:44] >> I think when we're looking at how [00:01:46] individuals are weaponizing our [00:01:48] children, a lot more research needs to [00:01:50] be done. [00:01:50] >> Not really. No, not really. [00:01:53] >> Certainly. [00:01:54] >> Uh, no. [00:01:55] >> Uh, this phone, do you think it's a [00:01:58] dangerous product for children, Miss [00:01:59] Woods? [00:02:00] >> Yes. Yes, I do. into [00:02:02] >> what do you think? What's more danger? [00:02:04] Smoking or this? [00:02:05] >> Oh, the phone, of course. [00:02:07] >> Do you agree with that? [00:02:08] >> I do. [00:02:08] >> Do you agree with that? [00:02:09] >> Without a doubt. [00:02:10] >> Okay. Well, I'm not urging people to [00:02:12] smoke. I don't think kids should smoke. [00:02:15] Why don't we label this a dangerous [00:02:16] product? At least inform consumers [00:02:18] better. Do you agree that's a good idea? [00:02:19] >> I agree. [00:02:20] >> Okay. There's so many good ideas and I [00:02:23] want to compliment this committee who's [00:02:25] oftenly divided for coming up with one [00:02:28] good idea after another from you know [00:02:31] Senator Holly Blackburn all of us Cornin [00:02:34] everybody's working together nobody's [00:02:36] been better on this than Senator Durban. [00:02:39] So February is the 30th anniversary of [00:02:41] section 230. Are you familiar with [00:02:44] section 230? [00:02:46] Miss Woods, are you familiar with it? [00:02:48] >> Yes, sir. You really can't sue anybody [00:02:51] that was involved in helping these [00:02:53] people murder your son, can you? [00:02:55] >> No. [00:02:56] >> Do you all agree that it's time to [00:02:58] revisit section 230? [00:03:02] >> Yes. Yes. [00:03:03] >> Do you believe it's time to open the [00:03:04] courtrooms to people who have been [00:03:06] harmed by this behavior? [00:03:08] >> Yes. Yes. Do you agree that section 230 [00:03:11] gives a legal path some of the most [00:03:13] bizarre harmful behavior in the country [00:03:16] and 30 years later we should revisit [00:03:18] section 230? [00:03:20] >> Yes. [00:03:20] >> Yes. [00:03:21] >> Okay. Me too. So what are we going to [00:03:24] do? Here's what I'm going to do. I'm [00:03:25] going to write a letter to Senator Thun, [00:03:27] Senator Schumer, both good men. And in [00:03:30] February, we should have like a social [00:03:32] media week where we take all these good [00:03:35] ideas and we dedicate a week or two [00:03:38] weeks to doing nothing on the floor but [00:03:40] this to try to take these laws that [00:03:43] everybody coming up with and put them in [00:03:45] a big package and put us all on record [00:03:49] as are we all talk or we we willing to [00:03:52] act. Do y'all like that idea? [00:03:54] >> I sure do. Great idea. [00:03:55] >> We'll have like a couple months to let [00:03:57] the country know. tune in in February. [00:03:59] We're going to do some things to protect [00:04:01] your children and see where the Senate [00:04:03] is on this. Would you support that idea? [00:04:06] >> Yes. [00:04:06] >> Yes. [00:04:07] >> Okay. Good. Uh so I'd like my colleagues [00:04:10] think creatively what should be on that [00:04:12] list. But come February on the 30th [00:04:14] anniversary of section 230, uh I'd like [00:04:18] to have an effort on the floor of the [00:04:21] Senate to deal with the dark side of [00:04:24] section 230. So I think that would be [00:04:27] very very helpful. Now [00:04:30] the cost of doing business, [00:04:33] do you agree with me the the more likely [00:04:35] you are to go to jail, a lot of people [00:04:37] avoid that area? [00:04:39] >> Yes. [00:04:39] >> Yes. [00:04:39] >> Do you agree with me that the more [00:04:41] likely you are to get sued if you put [00:04:43] out a bad product, the more likely they [00:04:45] are to try to change that product? [00:04:47] >> Yes. [00:04:47] >> Yes. Do you all agree that we've as a [00:04:50] nation miserably failed our children? [00:04:54] That we have hearings and we talk and [00:04:56] we've done very little to protect them [00:04:59] uh as of [00:05:02] this date. [00:05:03] >> Yes. [00:05:03] >> Yes. [00:05:06] >> That's a damning indictment of all of [00:05:08] us. Thank you.
