[00:00:00] The big news of the day is this Bevino
[00:00:03] story. We got to get into it. So Blake,
[00:00:05] why don't you set up the backdrop for
[00:00:07] this and then we'll get into what we
[00:00:08] know. We've been calling people trying
[00:00:10] to get the inside scoop.
[00:00:11] >> Well, so Bevino is the he's kind of been
[00:00:14] the point man for a lot of the drama
[00:00:16] that's been unfolding with ICE in
[00:00:18] Minnesota. It's almost it's almost worth
[00:00:20] reminding people the full arc of how we
[00:00:22] got here, which is last fall. Well,
[00:00:25] okay. The full full arc of how we got
[00:00:27] here.
[00:00:27] >> How far back do we want to go? 1964
[00:00:30] >> during the last glacial maximum the
[00:00:32] glaciers created a bunch of lakes in
[00:00:34] Minnesota thus making it a pleasant
[00:00:36] place for people to live and so a bunch
[00:00:38] and it resembled Finland and Sweden and
[00:00:40] so a bunch of Finns and Swedes moved to
[00:00:43] Minnesota and they made a great state
[00:00:44] and it was very pleasant but it was kind
[00:00:47] of progressive it was a little leftwing
[00:00:49] and they they have a dog goodter impulse
[00:00:50] to them and a bunch of Somali moved a
[00:00:52] lot of people moved there including yes
[00:00:54] many Somali they built a big welfare
[00:00:56] state that has started to go a little
[00:00:58] bit ary much like the one in Sweden. And
[00:01:01] so we had it was not really a
[00:01:03] coincidence that George Floyd unfolded
[00:01:05] in Minneapolis. That would not have
[00:01:07] unfolded the way it did if it had
[00:01:08] happened
[00:01:09] >> in Atlanta, in Texas, in other states.
[00:01:13] Kind of had to happen in Minnesota. And
[00:01:15] since then, we've been repeatedly going
[00:01:17] back there. So that's a little setup.
[00:01:19] Anyway, this past fall we had that drama
[00:01:22] with people noticed the smalle fraud
[00:01:24] stuff which has been going on for years
[00:01:25] and in fact been getting prosecuted and
[00:01:27] covered for years.
[00:01:28] >> You were early on this by the way.
[00:01:29] >> But yeah, we weren't like feeding our
[00:01:31] future was going on in 21 and 22 and
[00:01:34] then you remember when we had KMU on and
[00:01:35] he said, "Yeah, all these there's a
[00:01:37] giant autism scam going on in Minnesota,
[00:01:40] all this fraud." And then lo and behold,
[00:01:42] that was blown up. So we had uh you know
[00:01:44] Chris Rufo was covering it and then of
[00:01:46] course Nick Shirley was covering it as
[00:01:48] well. just the realization, oh caused
[00:01:51] this surge,
[00:01:51] >> huge huge surge of attention on it of
[00:01:53] what fraud is going on. And so then ICE,
[00:01:56] which has been pursuing its immigration
[00:01:58] activities, they sort of seized on this,
[00:02:00] oh well, let's let's do a surge in
[00:02:02] Minnesota. It's a good symbol of how
[00:02:04] serious we are on finding fraudsters,
[00:02:06] finding criminals, and deporting them.
[00:02:08] And so we have the surge there. And
[00:02:10] Bevino, as you said, is he's kind of the
[00:02:12] on the ground symbolic leader of this.
[00:02:15] He's almost like the mascot of Border
[00:02:17] Patrol, which is distinct from ICE,
[00:02:20] which is an important distinction. So,
[00:02:22] you know, typically Bevino would not be
[00:02:24] up
[00:02:25] >> in Minneapolis, right? So, he was
[00:02:28] brought there as a part of the surge to
[00:02:29] oversee it. He is this kind of folk hero
[00:02:32] among a lot of the border patrol. Uh
[00:02:35] we've got some images of of Greg. He's a
[00:02:37] total patriot, by the way. Total
[00:02:39] patriot. Um, but things have gone arai
[00:02:42] and there is infighting within some of
[00:02:46] the ranks of ICE, Border Patrol, even
[00:02:49] there's differing opinions at the
[00:02:50] administration. But here's what I can
[00:02:52] tell you is that everybody's committed
[00:02:55] to the president's immigration agenda.
[00:02:57] That's what I have ascertained. I've
[00:02:59] been calling around asking my sources up
[00:03:01] there. Everybody's committed to it. But
[00:03:03] there is a difference of tactics, of
[00:03:06] messaging, of presentation.
[00:03:08] >> Yeah. And it's just funny how symbolic
[00:03:09] it is because I believe he's he's
[00:03:11] commander of the border patrol. And so
[00:03:12] it is a little funny that he was there,
[00:03:14] but he what he was is he had that
[00:03:16] bravado of oh we're here, we're tough.
[00:03:18] He's like parading around in public to
[00:03:21] show frankly that he's not afraid of all
[00:03:22] the ICE people and or the anti-ICE
[00:03:25] protesters, which is a big deal because
[00:03:27] people have openly fantasized about
[00:03:29] wanting this guy shot. They've openly
[00:03:31] fantasized I think someone even put out
[00:03:33] a hit on him, I believe.
[00:03:34] >> Yeah. His family is in hiding.
[00:03:36] >> Yes.
[00:03:36] >> Just so you're aware. This guy is a very
[00:03:38] brave man and he he put himself out
[00:03:40] there for the agenda. But he also as a
[00:03:42] result became symbolic of the
[00:03:44] difficulties that happened in
[00:03:45] Minneapolis which unfortunately we've
[00:03:47] had two shootings. Uh we've had a lot of
[00:03:51] chaos in the city mostly driven by the
[00:03:53] left of course. Charlie Kirk believed
[00:03:55] courage and conviction still matter. He
[00:03:57] wanted every Christian to stand firm in
[00:03:59] their faith no matter the cost. That's
[00:04:01] why the voice of the martyrs is offering
[00:04:02] you a free copy of extreme devotion.
[00:04:05] Inside are true stories of Christians in
[00:04:07] places like China, Iran, and Nigeria who
[00:04:09] refused to deny Jesus Christ even in the
[00:04:12] face of imprisonment or death. Charlie's
[00:04:15] passion was to see that kind of faith in
[00:04:17] all of us. Get your free copy today at
[00:04:19] vom.org/charlie.
[00:04:21] That's vom.org/charlie.
[00:04:28] Well, in the new one, Prey, is I think
[00:04:31] where we're getting a lot of this
[00:04:32] consternation because listen, I will
[00:04:36] defend ICE all day long. As a matter of
[00:04:39] fact, I'm going to continue to because I
[00:04:41] think they're amazing heroes. But there
[00:04:43] are some ICE agents and Border Patrol
[00:04:46] that that feel like we need a new
[00:04:48] approach, a a re we need to hit the
[00:04:50] reset button in Minneapolis. You see Tom
[00:04:53] Hman, who's been on this show many
[00:04:55] times. We love Tom. I think it's a great
[00:04:56] it's a great move. Great. Mix it up. But
[00:05:00] Bavino has now so there was some
[00:05:03] confusion yesterday. Bovino gets
[00:05:04] relieved of duty. Did he get fired? Did
[00:05:06] he get did he is he now transferred?
[00:05:09] >> So he's and then his social media was
[00:05:11] shut down. He was mixing it up on social
[00:05:13] media with some lawmakers who were
[00:05:15] overreacting. By the way, again, I
[00:05:18] basically agree with everything Bavino
[00:05:20] was saying. He's absolutely right to
[00:05:22] have our ICE agents back, to have border
[00:05:24] patrols back, but some of the details I
[00:05:28] think were misplaced. I think some of
[00:05:30] the initial reaction was based on faulty
[00:05:33] information about the altercation with
[00:05:35] Prey. And so there there's movement
[00:05:39] happening, right? But he's not been
[00:05:40] fired. And essentially what happened was
[00:05:42] Bovino was put on ice for a second.
[00:05:46] President Trump put on ice.
[00:05:48] >> Yeah. Well, he was Oh, put on ice. I
[00:05:50] didn't even mean to do that. President
[00:05:52] Trump says this guy's a hero. He's a
[00:05:54] patriot. He's on the team. We're keeping
[00:05:56] him keeping him on his post. And so he's
[00:05:58] on his post, but H Homeman's coming in.
[00:06:00] He's going to he's going to shake things
[00:06:02] up. Why I like this, and I will tell
[00:06:04] you, Bo is an actual operator, right?
[00:06:07] He's he's less of the policy wonk guy,
[00:06:09] less of the architect of the but he is
[00:06:11] an absolute architect. He's a real tough
[00:06:14] guy. Bovino is a tough guy, too. But Tom
[00:06:17] Hman, absolute field general. He's in
[00:06:20] the he's now in the field meeting with
[00:06:22] people. And what we've seen, and I think
[00:06:26] I think the internet's got this all
[00:06:27] wrong. A lot of people are saying
[00:06:28] President Trump blinked. You know, he
[00:06:30] had this call with Fry Fry. He had a
[00:06:32] call with Waltz. What they're doing is a
[00:06:36] huge, huge deal. We are now seeing
[00:06:39] Minneapolis PD
[00:06:42] rush in to defend federal law
[00:06:44] enforcement. That's a big change. That's
[00:06:46] a positive change after the calls with
[00:06:49] the president. So, we're seeing movement
[00:06:51] here. We're seeing a little give and
[00:06:53] take. I I do not see anybody saying
[00:06:56] we're not going to arrest all the
[00:06:57] illegals. Nobody's saying that. We're
[00:07:00] you you do you do see a little bit of a
[00:07:02] uh worse first messaging. Now, as long
[00:07:04] as that's just the messaging, I'm okay
[00:07:06] with it. And Blake, before we we came in
[00:07:08] to the show today, you were making I
[00:07:10] thought a really amazing point.
[00:07:11] Sometimes I wish you guys could see all
[00:07:13] of our our pre-show discussions, but you
[00:07:16] were basically saying competence is what
[00:07:18] matters. It's not even okay, message how
[00:07:20] you're going to message, but we need
[00:07:22] competence and we need to stop being as
[00:07:25] performative for social media. We just
[00:07:26] need to get the job done. Explound on
[00:07:29] that point if you can. Well, so a lot of
[00:07:31] the drama that's been happening with ICE
[00:07:33] is I I think it's downstream of things
[00:07:36] the administration has done to show that
[00:07:38] they're serious and we want them to be
[00:07:39] serious. But what I think Bovino became
[00:07:42] a symbol of is like
[00:07:46] >> performative
[00:07:47] >> performative stuff. And some of this is
[00:07:49] is stuff I've heard people complain
[00:07:50] about like for lack of a better term
[00:07:53] some stuff they'll do. It's almost like
[00:07:54] it's intended to look a little cruel or
[00:07:58] callous. And I think it is important to
[00:08:02] be ser like dead serious. And it's
[00:08:03] obviously great when they're saying,
[00:08:04] "Oh, this person we arrested was a
[00:08:06] rapist. This person we arrested was a
[00:08:08] criminal." you definitely communicate
[00:08:09] that seriousness, but sometimes it does
[00:08:12] go a little bit beyond that and and
[00:08:14] that's what ends up like bothering a lot
[00:08:16] of people.
[00:08:17] >> Uh now, you can't allow those people to
[00:08:19] say, "Oh, so we're going to suspend uh
[00:08:22] deportations now. Oh, we're going to
[00:08:23] pull ICE back. Oh, deportations are
[00:08:24] canceled because this made me feel bad."
[00:08:26] You don't give in on that point, but you
[00:08:28] do have to be smart about things. And I
[00:08:31] think the way Trump is, President Trump
[00:08:33] is reacting to this is is telling
[00:08:36] because I think some people really
[00:08:37] wanted to do a bigger pullback. I think
[00:08:39] some people probably wanted Greg Mavino
[00:08:41] to just be fired and cast aside, say
[00:08:43] this whole thing was bad. And I think
[00:08:45] the president's instincts are no, we can
[00:08:47] swap out personnel, but if I start
[00:08:49] firing people or really signaling a
[00:08:51] pullback, it's going to show it's going
[00:08:53] to set off this cascade of weakness.
[00:08:54] Yeah. Whereas with sending in Tom Hman,
[00:08:56] Tom H. Homeman is a longtime
[00:08:58] professional. He's pretty good at the
[00:08:59] more
[00:09:01] He's pretty good at disciplined
[00:09:02] messaging on this and I think he can say
[00:09:05] we'll have homeman running this
[00:09:06] operation and he can communicate what
[00:09:09] our agenda is that we're focus that you
[00:09:11] know most of the people we're getting
[00:09:12] are criminals that
[00:09:13] >> he can sort of reset the tone of what's
[00:09:15] going on without pulling back too
[00:09:17] decisively. Right.
