[00:00:01] >> I went to college at the University of
[00:00:03] Colorado. Started off as a night school
[00:00:06] student. I was working uh in a
[00:00:08] department store and a girlfriend of
[00:00:11] mine said she was going to go apply for
[00:00:13] college and I went with her and I
[00:00:15] thought, well, I'm going to try this
[00:00:16] too. Uh and I did and ended up in school
[00:00:20] and met my husband the first semester of
[00:00:23] college and we were married at the age
[00:00:25] of 19 a couple years later.
[00:00:27] >> Wow. Okay. Okay. And did you get your
[00:00:29] degree?
[00:00:30] >> I did. I got my degree in English
[00:00:32] literature. Uh I was not a very good
[00:00:34] student in high school. I uh skipped
[00:00:36] school a lot, not to go out doing bad
[00:00:40] things. I stayed home and read. Uh my
[00:00:42] dad had taught me to read as a child uh
[00:00:45] before the age of six. And one of my
[00:00:48] first memories is getting my library
[00:00:50] card. That's the first thing we did when
[00:00:51] we got to Denver is I went to the
[00:00:53] library to get a library card. So um
[00:00:56] ended up you know doing quite well in
[00:00:58] college and went to graduate school as
[00:01:00] well.
[00:01:00] >> Why did you pick English literature not
[00:01:02] some other subject?
[00:01:03] >> I loved books. I loved literature. I it
[00:01:06] was my first love. It's actually still
[00:01:08] my greatest love is for literature. And
[00:01:10] she got
