so much for being here i'm so [00:08:53] excited to see you the wonderful weather [00:08:56] that fairfax greeted me with thank you [00:08:59] so much for that [00:09:00] um okay there's a lot of fun good things [00:09:03] going on that i want to talk about that [00:09:05] i haven't been able to give any [00:09:06] commentary on and it's not usual [00:09:09] especially when we're talking about [00:09:10] conservative events and conservative [00:09:12] conferences that we have good things to [00:09:15] say [00:09:16] about the state of the world and the [00:09:18] state of the country just with how [00:09:20] things are going so three big things [00:09:22] three good things we're gonna do like [00:09:23] good news bad news and good news and [00:09:25] then like some encouragement and some [00:09:27] equipment so first piece of good news [00:09:30] elon musk can we get a round of applause [00:09:32] for elon musk [00:09:33] [Applause] [00:09:34] apparently he is buying twitter [00:09:36] something that i didn't think was going [00:09:38] to happen but is going to happen and [00:09:40] then the second big good thing that has [00:09:42] happened in the past couple of weeks is [00:09:43] that we have no more masks at the [00:09:45] airport [00:09:47] which is definitely worth a round of [00:09:48] applause i experienced that for the [00:09:50] first time today and since this is the [00:09:52] no more mandates tour um we'll have to [00:09:55] talk about that a little bit more and [00:09:56] then the third big good thing that i [00:09:58] think is happening that spells good [00:10:00] things for the future is ron desantis [00:10:03] and i could just end there probably for [00:10:05] a round of applause but ron desantis [00:10:08] doing something that many conservatives [00:10:10] and republicans are uncomfortable doing [00:10:13] and that is going after a major [00:10:15] corporation that has set itself against [00:10:18] the values of the people of the state of [00:10:20] florida and so yeah that's worth [00:10:22] applause i saw some people clapping [00:10:25] so there's some really good and exciting [00:10:28] things for us and the reason why i want [00:10:30] to start out with that is because i [00:10:32] think so often as young conservative [00:10:35] people you guys i if i'm still [00:10:37] considered a young conservative person [00:10:40] can get really discouraged about the [00:10:42] state of the world and certainly the [00:10:43] state of our country there are a lot of [00:10:47] bad things going on understandably so [00:10:50] this is kind of where we get in the get [00:10:52] with the bad news and just understand [00:10:54] what moment we're in and what time it is [00:10:56] which is i think so important for us to [00:10:58] be equipped to face whatever challenges [00:11:01] our generations are facing the fact of [00:11:04] the matter is is that we have a [00:11:06] commander-in-chief a president of the [00:11:07] united states who is not with us he is [00:11:10] not cognitively here that's a problem so [00:11:13] he's not just corrupt but he is also [00:11:16] incompetent he is not able to lead our [00:11:19] country that's really bad news for the [00:11:21] state of democracy for the state that [00:11:23] we're in we've got a lot of other things [00:11:26] that are kind of the consequence of that [00:11:28] of course we've got unprecedented levels [00:11:30] of illegal immigration that actually [00:11:32] just ended in the death of um [00:11:36] of an officer in texas because we have [00:11:40] just [00:11:41] given up our responsibility and our [00:11:43] obligation to protect our borders and to [00:11:45] protect our innocent citizens that [00:11:49] unfortunately it's leading to the loss [00:11:50] of life we've got unprecedented levels [00:11:53] of crime in some cities because of [00:11:56] lawless and progressive policy like bail [00:11:58] reform that is allowing criminals to go [00:12:02] back onto the streets in the name of [00:12:03] criminal justice that's hurting people [00:12:06] it's hurting communities [00:12:08] and then when you look on the moral [00:12:10] level the kind of culture war level of [00:12:12] course we're still subsidizing and [00:12:14] celebrating and allowing abortion [00:12:16] thousands of times a day we have a [00:12:18] supreme court justice who can't define [00:12:21] when life begins but she also can't even [00:12:23] say what a woman is [00:12:25] that says something about where we are [00:12:28] as a country not to mention the many [00:12:30] other policy disasters that i think that [00:12:32] we're facing that we're looking at right [00:12:34] now and i think a lot of you [00:12:36] i know that i feel this way sometimes [00:12:38] are looking at the future and you're [00:12:39] just wondering [00:12:41] are you still going to live or enjoy the [00:12:44] same kind of country [00:12:46] that i did growing up that people in [00:12:49] past generations did are we still going [00:12:51] to have the same freedoms the same [00:12:54] rights the same prosperity that we had [00:12:56] previously and i think it's really easy [00:12:59] to kind of feel nostalgic about that [00:13:01] especially over the last couple of years [00:13:03] you guys as people who are in high [00:13:05] school in college man like you had your [00:13:07] normalcy ripped out from under you it [00:13:10] was hard for the average person it was [00:13:12] hard for me as someone who is now 30 [00:13:14] years old and it was hard for our family [00:13:17] but i can't imagine for you guys you're [00:13:20] only [00:13:21] young once you're only a teenager once [00:13:24] you're only an adolescent once and for [00:13:26] the past two years you guys haven't been [00:13:28] able to make normal experiences [00:13:32] so i think it's normal for you guys for [00:13:34] people in your generation to feel a [00:13:35] little dejected [00:13:37] to feel a little pessimistic and [00:13:39] discouraged about the state of the world [00:13:41] and maybe sometimes you just wish that [00:13:43] you could go back that you wish that [00:13:45] things could be as they were before that [00:13:47] maybe if we could just have good old [00:13:49] 2019 [00:13:51] where things are at least a tad more [00:13:53] normal [00:13:54] but the fact of the matter is is that [00:13:56] we're not going back like there is no [00:13:59] going back to how things were [00:14:02] yes there are good things to celebrate [00:14:04] but we are not the country that we were [00:14:06] 20 years ago 30 years ago we're not the [00:14:09] country that we were two years ago [00:14:12] we don't have the same media we don't [00:14:14] have the same people we don't have the [00:14:15] same morals we don't have the same [00:14:17] values we don't have the same politics [00:14:19] we don't have the same unity as maybe we [00:14:22] once did [00:14:23] and so there's a little bit of sadness [00:14:25] there yes there's a little bit of [00:14:26] nostalgia when we realize that the [00:14:28] things just aren't going to be the same [00:14:31] but what i want to encourage you in and [00:14:34] i feel this so strongly [00:14:36] and this is one of the reasons why i [00:14:37] love talking to people in this [00:14:39] generation [00:14:40] is that you are absolutely pleased on [00:14:44] the timeline [00:14:46] and in the place in the location where [00:14:48] you were meant to be placed [00:14:50] that the challenges political and moral [00:14:53] and cultural that you guys are facing [00:14:56] are the challenges that you are meant to [00:14:58] face and that god placed you on this [00:15:01] tiny speck of eternity wherever he [00:15:04] placed you whatever location that's in [00:15:06] whatever campus that's on whatever [00:15:08] extracurriculars you're involved in for [00:15:10] a purpose [00:15:11] every generation has their [00:15:13] responsibilities [00:15:14] every generation has their torch [00:15:17] every generation has the obstacles that [00:15:19] are in front of them and the ones that [00:15:21] we're facing now [00:15:23] that in some ways feel insurmountable [00:15:26] they're not [00:15:28] they're totally challengeable they're [00:15:30] totally [00:15:31] overcomeable every generation has to [00:15:34] face with courage and with sobriety and [00:15:38] with critical thinking and with an [00:15:41] attitude of problem solving whatever [00:15:44] issues are before you [00:15:46] so all of the issues that i just listed [00:15:49] all of the cultural and moral rot [00:15:51] that we really see kind of pervading our [00:15:53] institutions pervading academia [00:15:55] pervading our education system i'm sure [00:15:58] you guys feel it a lot of your friends a [00:16:00] lot of people in your generation just [00:16:02] aren't able to think critically they're [00:16:05] not able to articulate good arguments [00:16:07] they really are just kind of imbibing [00:16:09] this emotional propaganda that they see [00:16:11] on tick tock [00:16:13] like the the [00:16:15] the their entire political worldview [00:16:17] their entire perspective on what's going [00:16:20] on in the world is shaped by a meme that [00:16:22] they saw on instagram [00:16:24] like it's a really daunting task to face [00:16:27] that [00:16:28] and to feel like if you don't go along [00:16:31] with the mainstream narrative about [00:16:33] whatever it is whether it's about gender [00:16:35] or whether it's about abortion those [00:16:37] really kind of controversial hot topic [00:16:39] issues it's really daunting to feel like [00:16:42] you are going to be the only one who's [00:16:44] swimming upstream that you're kind of [00:16:45] like a human salmon [00:16:47] i realize that's not easy i didn't have [00:16:50] all of the same challenges that you guys [00:16:52] did growing up we didn't have all the [00:16:54] same social media outlets i've heard [00:16:56] from some of you guys that you feel [00:16:58] bullied that you're scared to speak up [00:17:00] you're scared to speak your mind because [00:17:02] your professor your teacher your parents [00:17:04] friend or one of your friends is going [00:17:06] to bully you or maybe punish you in some [00:17:08] way or treat you differently and that [00:17:10] can be really scary but the fact of the [00:17:13] matter is is that the challenges that we [00:17:15] face the obstacles that we face as a [00:17:17] nation they require a lot of courage [00:17:20] they require a lot of boldness they [00:17:22] require people being willing to swim [00:17:24] upstream [00:17:25] being willing to be human salmon being [00:17:28] willing to say the thing that is [00:17:30] unpopular but true [00:17:32] and i think the evidence is that we see [00:17:34] of that that that can still work [00:17:36] like even when we feel like all hope is [00:17:38] lost sometimes the craziness of our [00:17:40] country especially over the past two [00:17:42] years [00:17:43] like are the three things that we talked [00:17:45] about at the beginning of this one the [00:17:47] elon musk is taking over twitter [00:17:50] like if anyone told you that elon musk [00:17:53] was going to be the guy that could [00:17:55] potentially save free speech for an [00:17:57] entire generation would you have [00:17:59] believed me a year ago i mean i wouldn't [00:18:01] have believed that if someone told me [00:18:03] that and now that's not to say that elon [00:18:05] musk is some you know savior of western [00:18:08] civilization or that he is even like a [00:18:10] moral exemplar that we need to follow [00:18:13] but really all it takes is one person [00:18:15] with courage and [00:18:17] billions of dollars [00:18:18] uh to say hey i don't think that this is [00:18:21] right i think i want to change things i [00:18:23] think i want to change the rules and to [00:18:25] me [00:18:26] you know there's some argument there's [00:18:28] some argumentation there's some back and [00:18:29] forth between the right about whether or [00:18:32] not we should really be applauding elon [00:18:34] musk does he really share our values and [00:18:36] there are arguments to be had about that [00:18:38] but look [00:18:39] i think we know very well as [00:18:41] conservatives a person does not have to [00:18:43] be perfect in order to be effective [00:18:46] and a change doesn't have to be [00:18:49] wielded by a perfect person in order to [00:18:52] have influence in order to have impact [00:18:55] and you know all this happened elon musk [00:18:58] taking charge of twitter which really is [00:18:59] like the public square and someone being [00:19:02] kicked off twitter it makes a [00:19:04] significant impact not just in their [00:19:06] lives and their ability to provide for [00:19:07] themselves and their ability to [00:19:09] contribute individually um [00:19:12] to the the public conversation but [00:19:16] it also has a significant impact on [00:19:18] things like elections like if you think [00:19:20] about the whole hunter biden laptop [00:19:22] story that was stopped it was stopped by [00:19:25] twitter and multiple media outlets right [00:19:28] before the election because they thought [00:19:29] it was going to hurt joe biden i mean [00:19:31] that's significant like we are talking [00:19:34] about unelected [00:19:36] executives that corporations trying to [00:19:38] up in democracy and elon musk saying [00:19:41] that he's not going to stand for that [00:19:42] that could have serious ripple effects [00:19:46] on our elections and on the future of [00:19:48] our country and really the world as a [00:19:49] whole and this all started because the [00:19:53] babylon bee [00:19:56] made fun of our assistant health [00:19:58] secretary [00:19:59] and said that he is a he instead of a [00:20:02] she his name is i think he goes by [00:20:04] rachel levine i think the babylon v made [00:20:07] a joke about that they got kicked off [00:20:09] twitter and elon musk is a really big [00:20:10] fan of the babylon b and i guess that's [00:20:13] just kind of what started it which is [00:20:14] crazy a satire site the babylon bees [00:20:17] said that a man is a man and elon musk [00:20:20] said [00:20:20] you know not on my watch you're not [00:20:22] gonna get kicked off and he literally [00:20:24] just bought twitter today what that's [00:20:26] crazy like wouldn't you love to have [00:20:28] that kind of capital you're mad at [00:20:29] someone you're like i'm just gonna buy [00:20:31] this whole thing [00:20:32] and just take it over and so that but [00:20:35] that is a result listen that is a result [00:20:38] of the babylon bee and i know those guys [00:20:40] they're really good people telling the [00:20:42] truth [00:20:43] and the babylon bee is just a company [00:20:45] that was started by [00:20:47] normal people who thought it was funny [00:20:49] to make kind of christian conservative [00:20:51] satire and then it blew up because they [00:20:54] were willing to tell the truth in a way [00:20:55] that was funny willing to say [00:20:57] uncomfortable things in a way that was [00:20:59] effective in a way that got attention [00:21:01] they literally got the attention of the [00:21:03] richest person in the world and he [00:21:04] bought twitter and maybe saved democracy [00:21:06] no big deal um but it started it started [00:21:10] small like it started from people saying [00:21:13] things that were true it started from [00:21:14] people saying things that were [00:21:16] uncomfortable and now [00:21:18] this huge [00:21:20] monumental moment is occurring that [00:21:23] really could have such a significant and [00:21:25] positive impact for free speech [00:21:27] worldwide and it started small it [00:21:29] started with people being willing to say [00:21:31] things that are true and being punished [00:21:34] for saying things that are true so [00:21:35] that's one lesson for us and then i [00:21:37] think the second thing if we look at the [00:21:40] repealing of the mask mandates by judge [00:21:43] mizell i had never heard of her before [00:21:45] she's in florida she seems great and so [00:21:48] now we don't have to wear masks at least [00:21:50] for now on airplanes and we've been [00:21:52] waiting for that day that was kind of [00:21:54] like the last thing it felt like that [00:21:56] was finally going to help us feel normal [00:21:58] if we no longer had to wear masks on [00:22:01] airplanes and it's kind of been a [00:22:02] trickle effect there have been things [00:22:04] that have still been in place [00:22:06] unfortunately there are toddlers who are [00:22:07] still forced to wear masks in places [00:22:09] like new york city to preschool [00:22:11] but we have been raising a ruckus for [00:22:14] the past two years about the [00:22:16] ineffectiveness of mass mandates i'm [00:22:19] telling you that this would not have [00:22:21] happened this decision wouldn't have [00:22:23] been made because the case wouldn't have [00:22:25] even been taken to court if regular [00:22:28] people hadn't stood up in the very [00:22:29] beginning and say [00:22:31] and said this is unconstitutional this [00:22:33] is against liberty this is against [00:22:35] science there's no data whatsoever [00:22:38] proving that mass mandates work you can [00:22:40] compare all the data of all the [00:22:42] different states those that have had [00:22:43] mass mandates those that haven't had [00:22:45] mass mandates you can compare and [00:22:47] contrast their coveted rates their death [00:22:49] rates you'll see no difference [00:22:50] whatsoever [00:22:52] this would not have happened this step [00:22:53] towards normalcy and getting back to [00:22:56] liberty would not have happened [00:22:58] if normal people hadn't stood up when it [00:23:01] was unpopular when people were getting [00:23:03] de-platformed and saying hey these mask [00:23:06] mandates these vaccine mandates they're [00:23:08] not right they're not scientific they're [00:23:10] not moral they're not ethical and [00:23:12] they're not constitutional so that big [00:23:15] change happens because some people in [00:23:17] the very beginning were willing to go on [00:23:19] twitter and go on instagram and go on [00:23:21] their platforms and say i think that [00:23:23] this is wrong and they were willing to [00:23:25] risk their jobs to do something like [00:23:27] that and it took time [00:23:29] but the people the individuals and the [00:23:32] health i think it's the [00:23:35] health defense fund there's some word [00:23:37] that i'm missing in there that ended up [00:23:40] filing the suit and that's how it was [00:23:42] decided to take the uh mass command date [00:23:44] away on airplanes these are just normal [00:23:46] people [00:23:47] these are just people who felt like it [00:23:49] was wrong and they decided to take an [00:23:50] uncomfortable stand when other people [00:23:52] weren't and that made a really big [00:23:54] difference we're not seeing that in [00:23:56] places like canada where you still have [00:23:58] to have a vaccine in order to fly not [00:24:00] just a mask you can't even get on a [00:24:01] plane without a vaccine so we can see [00:24:04] that here in the united states it is [00:24:06] still possible that your voice matters [00:24:09] as small and as insignificant as you [00:24:11] think it might be those are just two [00:24:12] examples [00:24:14] and then [00:24:15] you've got someone like ron desantis [00:24:17] he was doing something really different [00:24:19] and in my opinion we can maybe talk [00:24:21] about this in the q a if you're [00:24:22] interested in my opinion really [00:24:24] important from a conservative [00:24:26] perspective [00:24:27] he is pushing back against disney [00:24:30] because of their opposition to the [00:24:32] parental rights and education bill which [00:24:35] simply said hey if you're at a public [00:24:37] school you as a school district you [00:24:39] cannot [00:24:41] keep secrets about a child's well-being [00:24:43] from their parent pretty straightforward [00:24:45] you can't teach kindergarten through [00:24:47] third graders about things like sexual [00:24:49] or sexual orientation or gender identity [00:24:51] that's five to nine year olds i think [00:24:53] that's pretty straightforward that's all [00:24:55] the bill said it was seven pages long [00:24:57] disney said this is a violation of human [00:25:00] rights [00:25:01] as if if there is a human right to teach [00:25:03] a five-year-old about puberty blockers [00:25:05] they were very upset about this [00:25:07] apparently disney is very passionate [00:25:09] about this kind of thing for young [00:25:11] children [00:25:12] and disney said that it is going to be [00:25:14] their goal to see this law overturned to [00:25:17] see this repealed so basically this [00:25:21] california-based corporation very [00:25:23] lucrative very powerful [00:25:25] said that they were committed to [00:25:27] overturning a law that was passed by [00:25:30] duly elected state lawmakers and a [00:25:33] governor [00:25:34] and most republicans [00:25:37] would typically say well that's okay [00:25:40] free market capitalism they can do what [00:25:42] they want to do they can say what they [00:25:44] want to say [00:25:45] but i think that there are a few [00:25:48] politicians a few governors who [00:25:49] understand what time it is [00:25:51] and who understand that the left has [00:25:54] been weaponizing their power and [00:25:57] institutions for decades against [00:26:00] average normal powerless citizens [00:26:03] who don't agree with them if you think [00:26:05] about the cake baker and the florist and [00:26:08] the coach whose case was being heard [00:26:10] today by the supreme court who all had [00:26:12] their lives ruined by state governments [00:26:15] who went after them for exercising their [00:26:17] religious liberty i think ron desantis [00:26:20] and florida republicans said you know [00:26:21] what i think it's enough of that let us [00:26:23] use all of the tools and the power that [00:26:26] is available to us to revoke this [00:26:28] privilege of disney if they say that [00:26:30] they are going to up into the democracy [00:26:32] of our state they're not going to get [00:26:33] away with that [00:26:35] and that's a different approach that's a [00:26:37] different approach than most republicans [00:26:38] take that's a different approach than [00:26:40] what a lot of conservatives are [00:26:41] comfortable with but quite frankly that [00:26:44] is the kind of fight that we need [00:26:46] like that's the kind of ideological war [00:26:48] that we're in that's the kind of battle [00:26:51] that we're in really for the soul of our [00:26:52] nation for the values that we care about [00:26:55] for the institutions and the principles [00:26:57] that we hold dear and again all of that [00:26:59] started from normal people speaking up [00:27:02] about the problems that were in our [00:27:04] education system parents going to school [00:27:07] board meetings students saying hey i've [00:27:09] got this curriculum it's it's um a [00:27:12] little sketchy or it doesn't seem right [00:27:14] to say that sex is something that's just [00:27:16] assigned at birth or this kind of [00:27:18] critical race theory race essentialism [00:27:20] that a lot of young people are learning [00:27:22] in schools all of that started just from [00:27:24] regular people speaking up about the [00:27:27] things that matter [00:27:29] so that's why i'm optimistic really for [00:27:32] the future of our country because just [00:27:34] looking at those three things there's [00:27:35] probably a million other things [00:27:37] i see the power of the individual the [00:27:39] power of someone's voice the power of [00:27:42] someone taking a stand and being [00:27:44] courageous and being willing to do and [00:27:46] say the unpopular thing big monumental [00:27:49] things can happen [00:27:50] you have no idea which flap of the [00:27:53] butterfly wing you are [00:27:55] you have no idea what ripple you are if [00:27:57] you think that speaking up on social [00:27:59] media or having a conversation with your [00:28:01] friend or organizing on campus doesn't [00:28:03] matter you have no idea [00:28:05] when it seems like one thing is [00:28:07] happening a million things are happening [00:28:10] things that i just listed there are [00:28:12] millions of different people who [00:28:13] contributed to it just by doing the [00:28:16] unpopular thing [00:28:18] so i just want to encourage you guys [00:28:20] that i know that you're facing a lot on [00:28:22] campus at school with your friends if [00:28:25] you stand against the grain on any [00:28:26] controversial topic but you don't know [00:28:30] what long-term impact your courage has [00:28:33] in standing for what you know to be good [00:28:35] and right and true [00:28:37] one thing someone told me once and i [00:28:39] just think it's so true [00:28:41] is that courage begets courage [00:28:43] when you see someone standing up for [00:28:45] something that you know it's it's hard [00:28:47] for them to stand up maybe you see [00:28:49] someone being bullied on social media [00:28:51] because they took a stand that was [00:28:52] pro-life or whatever it is [00:28:55] rather than us saying oh i'm really glad [00:28:57] that's not me [00:28:59] that looks really uncomfortable that [00:29:00] that person is catching heat that that [00:29:02] person is getting backlash rather than [00:29:05] just us just sitting by and saying oh [00:29:07] i'm glad that i didn't do something like [00:29:09] that i'm glad i got i'm glad i'm not [00:29:11] getting that kind of backlash what we [00:29:13] can do instead is we can allow that [00:29:15] courage to be contagious [00:29:17] and we can do another thing that i like [00:29:19] to say is share arrows [00:29:22] we share the arrows with people who are [00:29:24] taking them because of their unpopular [00:29:27] but good and moral and right and [00:29:30] conservative stand [00:29:31] we say instead of i am glad that that's [00:29:35] not me instead of that we stand up and [00:29:38] we say [00:29:39] yeah i believe that too [00:29:41] that's me you see someone taking flock [00:29:43] for something that you believe too [00:29:45] rather than hiding away and hoping that [00:29:48] the mob doesn't cancel you be willing to [00:29:50] take the hit [00:29:51] be willing to take the cancellation be [00:29:54] willing to show courage because you [00:29:55] never know the long-term impact [00:29:58] that that courage might have [00:30:00] another thing that i want us to remember [00:30:03] and this is another alliteration that i [00:30:06] like to say [00:30:09] it's so easy for us especially i think [00:30:11] you guys as young people to be apathetic [00:30:15] because a lot of people are telling you [00:30:18] that politics and culture wars and all [00:30:20] those things really don't matter [00:30:22] but here's what i like to say this is [00:30:24] what i like to remind people of [00:30:27] because when people tell you that you're [00:30:28] being divisive or that you shouldn't [00:30:30] talk about that that it's too much to be [00:30:32] political i like to remind people that [00:30:35] politics matter because policy matters [00:30:37] because people matter [00:30:39] so actually when you are speaking up for [00:30:41] these policy issues that maybe your [00:30:43] friends are saying are too controversial [00:30:45] you don't want to wade in those waters [00:30:46] because it's just too much you don't [00:30:48] want to get someone mad at you remember [00:30:50] that it's really not political issues [00:30:52] that we're talking about especially when [00:30:54] we're talking about something like [00:30:55] abortion people say that that's a hot [00:30:58] topic that that's controversial it's [00:31:00] literally a matter of life and death [00:31:02] like it's it's not actually essentially [00:31:04] a political issue [00:31:06] it's fundamentally a theological issue [00:31:09] it's a moral issue it's become political [00:31:12] it's become a culture war issue but it's [00:31:14] a cause that is a matter of life and [00:31:16] death [00:31:17] so when people tell you that you are [00:31:19] being too divisive or you're being too [00:31:21] loud you're speaking too much about [00:31:24] these policies that really matter [00:31:26] remember that politics matter because [00:31:28] policy matters politics affects policy [00:31:30] the things we say are public dialogue [00:31:33] even things that are said on twitter [00:31:35] that affects public policy that is [00:31:37] written by our representatives [00:31:39] and policy matters because policy [00:31:41] affects people policy affects people [00:31:44] these so-called culture war issues [00:31:46] for example maybe one of the most [00:31:48] controversial things that you can do [00:31:51] the [00:31:52] thing that will get you kicked off [00:31:53] social media is saying that a man is a [00:31:55] man refusing to call a man who calls [00:31:57] himself a woman she or her one of the [00:31:59] most controversial things that you can [00:32:01] do but look that matters that actually [00:32:03] matters because if you are giving into [00:32:05] the premise that a woman that a man can [00:32:08] be a woman by calling him she her then [00:32:11] what you are doing is enabling the [00:32:13] policy that then victimizes the women [00:32:16] who are forced to compete again against [00:32:18] and share private spaces with men [00:32:21] so what we say actually matters [00:32:23] our public dialogue matters [00:32:26] our language matters [00:32:27] the truth we tell or the lies that we [00:32:30] tell because we want to fit in or [00:32:31] because we're scared that actually [00:32:32] matters [00:32:33] because it affects policy and fault and [00:32:36] policy affects people [00:32:38] and the last thing that i want to say [00:32:40] well last couple things that i want to [00:32:43] say before we get into some questions [00:32:45] and really it goes off of what i just [00:32:47] said and this is something that i've had [00:32:49] to remind myself of a lot [00:32:52] you'll remember the very contentious [00:32:53] summer of 2020 after the george floyd [00:32:56] incident if you [00:32:58] are a woman on instagram like you [00:33:00] remember there was a lot of i would say [00:33:03] bullying um happening on social media [00:33:06] particularly on white one instagram [00:33:08] which is like a terrible terrible place [00:33:10] to be um a progressive white woman [00:33:13] instagram is really like the worst place [00:33:15] on earth but there is a lot of virtue [00:33:18] bullying that goes on there there is a [00:33:20] lot of you are not a good person if you [00:33:23] don't support this cause or you don't [00:33:25] post this black square you don't say [00:33:27] this or you don't do the work or you [00:33:28] don't read this book whatever it is so [00:33:30] it's a lot of virtue bullying and a lot [00:33:32] of virtue signaling it's a lot of [00:33:34] superficial caddiness it's like middle [00:33:36] school cattiness that just morphed [00:33:38] itself into some kind of convoluted [00:33:40] version of social justice on instagram [00:33:42] it's terrible and i had to tell myself [00:33:45] from the very beginning when i saw some [00:33:46] people that i know [00:33:48] repeat propaganda christians i'm a [00:33:51] christian when i saw my fellow [00:33:52] christians say things about racism in [00:33:56] america that i just knew was not true [00:33:58] things that i knew were not factual [00:34:00] about policing in america the thing that [00:34:02] i had to tell myself what i wanted to [00:34:03] give in when i didn't want to be [00:34:05] divisive when i didn't want to rock the [00:34:06] boat when i didn't want to get into [00:34:08] uncomfortable conversations with people [00:34:10] i had to tell myself over and over again [00:34:12] live not by lies [00:34:14] if there's anything that you can do in [00:34:16] this life that seems like it's totally [00:34:18] characterized by insanity if you feel [00:34:21] like you can't take a standard there's [00:34:22] nothing that you can actually physically [00:34:24] do you're not starting an organization [00:34:26] you're not even posting on social media [00:34:27] whatever it is [00:34:29] just choose not to lie [00:34:31] don't lie with your words don't lie with [00:34:33] your actions seek truth in everything [00:34:36] that you do be a critical thinker be a [00:34:38] problem solver read that's something [00:34:40] that a lot of people in your generation [00:34:42] don't do try to seek the truth and [00:34:44] commit to [00:34:46] living not by lies that's a book i [00:34:48] didn't come up with that phrase it's [00:34:50] actually a phrase from [00:34:53] um alexander sultan hudson but [00:34:56] live not by lies [00:34:58] the second thing that i would say [00:35:00] is to raise a respectful ruckus about [00:35:03] the things that matter [00:35:05] uh we talked about all those those three [00:35:07] ways that had such a big um that are [00:35:10] having such a big impact on our society [00:35:12] today that really started small that [00:35:14] started with people exercising their [00:35:16] free speech in an unpopular and [00:35:18] controversial way you choose the things [00:35:21] that you care about choose the hills [00:35:24] that you want to die on and raise a [00:35:26] respectful ruckus about the things that [00:35:28] matter that doesn't mean that you're [00:35:30] going to care about everything you don't [00:35:32] have the capacity by the way to care [00:35:34] about everything you also don't have the [00:35:36] calling to care about everything we are [00:35:38] human beings you don't have to know [00:35:39] everything about every new story you [00:35:41] don't have to care about every issue i [00:35:44] know that the news makes you feel like [00:35:45] you do like you have to have equal [00:35:47] compassion and equal anger and equal [00:35:49] sadness and equal angst and equal joy [00:35:52] about every single headline and news [00:35:53] story that you hear but you can't [00:35:56] because we're all human beings and we [00:35:57] have a limited capacity we're finite so [00:36:00] choose the causes that you care about [00:36:02] is it abortion [00:36:04] like do you do you want to fight for is [00:36:06] that the hill that you want to die on [00:36:08] do you want to fight for the lives of [00:36:09] those vulnerable babies it doesn't have [00:36:11] to be one but it has to be just a few it [00:36:13] has to be a limited number and decide [00:36:16] you know what this is the hill that i'm [00:36:17] going to die on you're not going to be [00:36:18] able to die on every hill you can [00:36:20] applaud and help and support and [00:36:22] organize with other people who are [00:36:24] fighting for other causes but you can't [00:36:26] fight for everyone but pick a few and [00:36:28] decide that you are going to do [00:36:29] everything that you can you're going to [00:36:31] find like-minded people you're going to [00:36:33] organize with them you are going to go [00:36:35] to the school board you're going to talk [00:36:36] to your administrators you are going to [00:36:39] whatever it is [00:36:41] you are going to raise a respectful [00:36:42] ruckus for the things that matter pick [00:36:44] those things be committed to them be [00:36:47] strategic and be passionate about [00:36:49] pushing for all that you know is good [00:36:52] and right and true in whatever areas [00:36:54] whatever arenas whatever spheres that [00:36:56] god has called you in [00:36:58] if there's one [00:37:00] issue i think that we see so much [00:37:02] especially in generation z [00:37:04] i saw this [00:37:06] article by the new york times [00:37:08] uh the other day talking about the [00:37:09] mental health of young people and you [00:37:11] guys have probably heard this so much [00:37:13] just how mental health is really at an [00:37:15] all-time low for young people the rates [00:37:18] of suicide and feelings of loneliness [00:37:20] and feelings of depression and anxiety [00:37:22] and in some ways it's like who can blame [00:37:24] you the last two years have been awful [00:37:26] and then their social media but gosh i [00:37:28] think it's so much deeper than that [00:37:30] i mean there are so many things that we [00:37:31] could talk about how modern psychology [00:37:33] is just bunk that it really just [00:37:35] encourages you to think about yourself [00:37:37] more [00:37:38] there's so much involved in that today [00:37:41] but i think one of the things that i see [00:37:42] most in young people is just this [00:37:44] feeling of purposelessness this feeling [00:37:47] that you are the biggest thing in your [00:37:48] life that the most important thing that [00:37:51] you can do like your journey is really [00:37:53] just about loving yourself [00:37:55] and knowing yourself and if that is your [00:37:57] goal in life if your goal in life is [00:37:59] just to love yourself more and discover [00:38:01] yourself you are going to be miserable i [00:38:03] promise you're not that great i'm not [00:38:06] that great we're not that special on the [00:38:08] one hand we're worth a whole lot because [00:38:10] we're all made by god and we're made of [00:38:12] his image and that's wonderful but on [00:38:14] the other hand we're not so special that [00:38:16] we need to be so consumed with ourselves [00:38:18] that self-love is going to heal us of [00:38:21] all of our problems self-fulfillment is [00:38:23] going to put us on this track of of [00:38:25] satisfaction it's not [00:38:27] it's not you've got to commit to things [00:38:29] that are bigger than you of course i [00:38:31] believe as a christian that that is [00:38:33] knowing the god who created you that [00:38:35] only he can tell you who you are and [00:38:36] what you're worth [00:38:38] and why you're here what your purpose is [00:38:41] but in addition to that you've got to [00:38:43] link yourself to causes that are bigger [00:38:44] than yourself you've got to have a value [00:38:46] system that is bigger than you it can't [00:38:48] be all about you the more you can make [00:38:50] your life less about yourself and more [00:38:53] about making the lives of other people [00:38:55] better whether it's through politics [00:38:57] whether it's through service whether [00:38:58] it's through different acts of kindness [00:39:00] and selflessness whatever it is i [00:39:02] promise you the happier you'll be the [00:39:04] more fulfilling your life will be don't [00:39:06] be like the rest of your generation who [00:39:08] just wants to pretend to be virtuous by [00:39:10] sitting on the couch and tweeting about [00:39:11] how much they love bernie sanders that's [00:39:13] not virtue [00:39:15] that's laziness they're slacktivists [00:39:17] they think that they are being good [00:39:19] people by voting for other people to [00:39:21] take money from people that are richer [00:39:22] than them and give it to people that are [00:39:24] poorer than them that's not virtue [00:39:26] that's laziness [00:39:28] you invest your energy and your time [00:39:31] into the things that matter selflessly [00:39:34] as passionately and as wisely and as [00:39:36] boldly as you can [00:39:39] there are so many myths today that say [00:39:41] that our world is overpopulated that we [00:39:43] need to have fewer children um that [00:39:45] that's going to save the world and that [00:39:47] we're just burdens on society that is [00:39:49] such a dismal view [00:39:51] of human beings and it's just not true [00:39:53] like i believe that everyone in this [00:39:55] room is actually an asset to the future [00:39:57] that you are a credit to the future that [00:40:00] you are adding things to the world of uh [00:40:03] innovation and that you are making the [00:40:05] environment better that you are going to [00:40:07] do something that makes the world better [00:40:09] not worse that you're not taking away [00:40:11] but you're actually adding to [00:40:14] and so see other people like that see [00:40:16] yourself like that see your purpose in [00:40:18] life like that that you are here to add [00:40:20] something to the world not just take it [00:40:22] away that is going to be a defining [00:40:24] factor in your life thank you [00:40:33] all right i think we're taking some [00:40:34] questions [00:40:48] uh [00:40:52] hi um my name is sarah um you said [00:40:55] something about raising a respectful [00:40:57] ruckus [00:40:58] and in the past two years during the [00:40:59] whole covet thing um i've had christians [00:41:02] say things like well as a christian you [00:41:04] shouldn't be divisive or rock the boat [00:41:06] as you said [00:41:08] um do you have any comments about that [00:41:10] and [00:41:10] do you have any advice for christians on [00:41:12] how to [00:41:13] like stand up for what you believe with [00:41:15] love and [00:41:16] raise respectful ruckus as a christian [00:41:19] yes so there are i mean there are [00:41:21] specific ways of course different people [00:41:24] can do this i'm trying to think let me [00:41:26] think of one example [00:41:27] so [00:41:28] again going back to 2020 a lot of [00:41:31] churches responded to [00:41:33] what they thought was kind of a racial [00:41:34] reckoning in our country by introducing [00:41:38] really kind of some unbiblical [00:41:40] anti-biblical theology into the pulpits [00:41:43] and there were people in churches who [00:41:45] thought you know what i don't want our [00:41:47] church to go this direction and so they [00:41:49] decided to do a few things and this is i [00:41:51] think a formula that can work in [00:41:52] corporations it can work in schools it [00:41:54] can work in churches it can work in [00:41:55] communities you first you find [00:41:57] like-minded people it's much easier if [00:41:59] you can find one or two people whatever [00:42:01] issue it is that agree with you or see [00:42:03] eye to eye with you on whatever issue [00:42:05] you come together you talk about it you [00:42:07] say why do we disagree with this thing [00:42:08] that's going on what do you think is our [00:42:10] best argument you read up as much as you [00:42:12] can people that are on your side people [00:42:14] who agree with you about this certain [00:42:16] topic the other side try to become as [00:42:18] well-rounded as you can on whatever [00:42:20] topic this is and try to really practice [00:42:22] and articulate whatever arguments you [00:42:24] have go with those like-minded people to [00:42:27] the people who are in charge whatever [00:42:29] that is school board administrators in [00:42:31] this case it would have been like pastor [00:42:33] and elders and say look we're really [00:42:35] concerned about this you say it [00:42:36] respectfully we respect you we respect [00:42:39] your leadership thank you so much for [00:42:41] taking the time to listen to me here are [00:42:43] here are the three reasons why we think [00:42:45] what's going on here is incorrect and [00:42:47] here's really what we expect and what we [00:42:49] would like to push the church or this [00:42:51] entity and institution toward [00:42:53] and then you really work on trying to [00:42:55] get as many people as possible if that [00:42:58] doesn't work with the leadership if [00:42:59] they're not convinced you try to get as [00:43:01] many people as possible on your side you [00:43:03] reach out to them you have conversations [00:43:05] with them you see how many people you [00:43:07] can kind of rally on to your position [00:43:11] and then you continue to push the [00:43:12] leadership on it you do it in a [00:43:13] respectful way now in some there are [00:43:16] some times when people have to leave [00:43:18] certain entities people have to leave [00:43:19] their church people have to leave a [00:43:21] school and everyone has to make the [00:43:22] decision that is best for them that's [00:43:24] certainly true when it comes to [00:43:25] christians and conservatives in certain [00:43:26] corporations um however i think that [00:43:30] you're obligated while you're there to [00:43:32] try to make the most change that you can [00:43:34] so it's coming together organizing [00:43:36] articulating your thoughts using your [00:43:39] voice and then take that respectful [00:43:41] ruckus to the people who make the [00:43:43] decisions and if they don't agree with [00:43:45] the quality of your argument then you [00:43:47] have to use quantity so you get more [00:43:49] people to rally behind you and make as [00:43:52] much change as you can does that make [00:43:54] sense yeah thank you yeah [00:44:02] hey ali my name is simon thank you so [00:44:04] much for being with us tonight [00:44:06] so my question is that you know the left [00:44:08] and socialists of course they want to [00:44:10] take any reason or justification to [00:44:12] control our lives control destroy the [00:44:14] system of free markets [00:44:16] so [00:44:17] you know what would be the best approach [00:44:20] to say the difference between you know [00:44:22] crony capitalism and free markets [00:44:24] because you know they will see the [00:44:26] scientists texting disney or [00:44:29] you know buying twitter or pretty much [00:44:31] holding facebook and big take [00:44:33] accountable [00:44:34] and they will just you know oh this is [00:44:36] what we want so how can we just set the [00:44:37] difference without [00:44:39] you know encourage them or with or [00:44:41] without facing the threat of socialism [00:44:43] in america [00:44:44] so just to clarify your question is that [00:44:47] are you saying that there may be a [00:44:49] concern that [00:44:50] what maybe someone like elon musk or ron [00:44:52] desantis is doing is setting a bad [00:44:54] precedent for the left to turn around [00:44:55] and do the same thing is that part of [00:44:57] your question [00:44:58] yeah like if the left see those actions [00:45:00] they will say oh they are you know [00:45:03] taxing the greed or like whatever [00:45:04] they're trying to make up and and pretty [00:45:06] much they want to keep pushing for [00:45:08] socialism so what would be or measure to [00:45:10] define crony cronyism and uh capita and [00:45:14] free markets [00:45:15] okay [00:45:16] so one i have heard the concern well [00:45:20] what if the left sees what desantis is [00:45:22] doing and they just do the same thing or [00:45:24] they push just as hard well [00:45:26] the answer to that is the left is going [00:45:28] to push anyway that it doesn't matter [00:45:31] what republicans do i saw someone say on [00:45:33] twitter and this is so [00:45:34] true is that the side that wants to be [00:45:37] left alone will always lose to the side [00:45:39] that wants to win [00:45:41] the side that wants to be left alone [00:45:42] will always lose to the side that wants [00:45:44] to win so i think it's good that [00:45:47] republicans instead of being the party [00:45:49] of which i actually think that [00:45:50] republicans have kind of traditionally [00:45:52] been a party of cronyism and when you [00:45:54] look at the deal the sweetheart deal [00:45:56] that disney had in florida where they [00:45:58] had all these special privileges and tax [00:46:00] breaks that other companies did not have [00:46:03] like that was a form of cronyism all the [00:46:05] way back to i think it was 1957 or 67 [00:46:08] when it first started so i think [00:46:10] desantis evening the playing field and [00:46:12] saying look you're just gonna have to [00:46:13] function like every other business in [00:46:15] disney or in florida does that is free [00:46:18] market capitalism the deal that they had [00:46:19] was actually cronyism from the start i [00:46:22] know that some people are uncomfortable [00:46:23] with his retaliatory actions towards [00:46:26] them because they spoke out against the [00:46:27] bill and so he said okay we're going to [00:46:29] revoke your privileges but as i said [00:46:31] before they were threatening as all [00:46:33] leftist institutions do threatening to [00:46:35] up in the democracy and the democratic [00:46:37] processes in that state by trying to see [00:46:40] that law overturned so [00:46:42] if the people in charge if the [00:46:44] republicans in charge are not the ones [00:46:46] who are going to put a check on these [00:46:48] huge major corporations that are trying [00:46:51] to [00:46:52] inhibit our ability to live freely and [00:46:56] and pass the laws that we want to pass [00:46:58] as constituents then who else is going [00:47:00] to like who has the power to do that and [00:47:04] like we know that when the lack takes [00:47:06] over an institution or corporation [00:47:08] like they are going to push we see that [00:47:11] with amazon we see that with twitter we [00:47:13] did we see that with facebook like we [00:47:16] see that they are going to cut off [00:47:17] narratives that they don't like they are [00:47:18] only going to spread narratives that [00:47:19] they do like that has an effect on [00:47:22] public policy if republicans in power [00:47:24] are not the ones to put a check on that [00:47:26] who is [00:47:27] so the left is going to continue to push [00:49:32] how the transgender movement is taking [00:49:34] away from women specifically how would [00:49:36] you respond to a male [00:49:38] yeah well there's a difference in [00:49:39] liberty and anarchy so even libertarians [00:49:42] which i'm not a libertarian i'm a [00:49:44] conservative but even people who believe [00:49:45] as i do in limited government still [00:49:48] believe there's a role of a government [00:49:50] and at its very [00:49:53] at its most basic a government's [00:49:55] responsibility is to protect the lives [00:49:57] of its innocent citizens and that would [00:49:59] include a baby in the womb so even if [00:50:01] you believe in the most limited [00:50:02] government possible you could still [00:50:04] believe and should still believe that a [00:50:06] government has to protect the right of [00:50:09] innocent people not to be murdered if [00:50:11] you don't have that you literally don't [00:50:13] have anything if you don't have a right [00:50:14] to life you don't have a right to [00:50:16] liberty and happiness which come after [00:50:18] life in the declaration of independence [00:50:20] for a reason so if you don't believe in [00:50:22] the right to life the most basic human [00:50:24] right that there is then that's anarchy [00:50:26] then you believe in living in anarchy [00:50:28] and again being a libertarian is [00:50:29] different than being an anarchist and so [00:50:31] i would probably ask some questions to [00:50:33] that individual what rights do you [00:50:35] believe in protecting and why there are [00:50:37] plenty of rights that i adv that i would [00:50:39] advocate for that may not necessarily [00:50:41] affect me or i don't know if they'll [00:50:43] affect me but i still think it's wrong [00:50:45] abortion doesn't affect me and i guess [00:50:47] that's his argument too but the reason [00:50:50] why i am [00:50:51] advocating for it is because those [00:50:52] people don't have a voice and if you [00:50:54] don't speak up for the people who don't [00:50:55] have a voice no one's going to um as for [00:50:58] the transgender thing it's the same it's [00:51:00] the same thing like if you don't have a [00:51:02] right if like if a woman doesn't have a [00:51:04] right to privacy if she doesn't have a [00:51:06] right to fairness well there really is [00:51:08] no such thing as women's rights if we [00:51:10] don't have sex protected spaces and sex [00:51:12] protected rights the people who are [00:51:14] going to suffer the most are going to be [00:51:16] the most vulnerable physically [00:51:18] vulnerable and that's women because he's [00:51:20] right like no guy is worried about like [00:51:24] ellen page coming into his locker room [00:51:26] for good reason i mean that's not a [00:51:28] physical threat but it's a physical [00:51:30] threat to me if a man comes into my [00:51:32] locker room saying that he's a woman so [00:51:34] all kinds of rights might not affect us [00:51:36] directly but affect other people and [00:51:39] just as people who live in a society [00:51:40] that is shared with other people [00:51:43] um that are shared with other people we [00:51:45] should care about that [00:51:54] hey so uh within right-wing politics we [00:51:56] kind of all know [00:51:58] we're we're against the left and that [00:52:00] tent's growing right [00:52:02] and there's kind of distinctions and [00:52:03] divisions and differences within the [00:52:06] right-wing camp broadly speaking so i [00:52:08] kind of want to know where do you think [00:52:10] we should draw lines where should lines [00:52:13] be drawn in terms of the differences [00:52:14] without compromising but also [00:52:17] being a unified force to fight against a [00:52:19] common enemy yeah i think that's a [00:52:21] really good question and honestly it's [00:52:22] one that i'm still working on because at [00:52:24] the end of the day i am a christian and [00:52:27] that's what i care about most like that [00:52:29] is my identity that means there's going [00:52:31] to be a lot of conservatives whom i love [00:52:33] and respect that i disagree with on like [00:52:36] really fundamental things dave rubin a [00:52:39] wonderful person who i respect who we [00:52:41] can link arms together in a lot of [00:52:43] things at the end of the day or anyone [00:52:45] like ben shapiro who i love so much like [00:52:47] we have a different world view because [00:52:48] we have a different foundation and so i [00:52:51] don't think that we can tribalize so [00:52:53] much to where i could never link arms [00:52:55] with people who disagree with me on [00:52:57] those worldview issues when it comes to [00:52:59] other things like when it comes to [00:53:00] fighting against mandates or fighting [00:53:02] for free speech or something or fighting [00:53:04] against like grooming children but i [00:53:06] think it's a matter of [00:53:08] what the republican party needs to do if [00:53:10] there really has to be a reckoning of [00:53:12] trying to decide like what are we what [00:53:15] are we are we just is conservatism just [00:53:18] anti-woke is that all it is [00:53:20] or is conservatism actually conserving [00:53:22] something are we just like 10 miles [00:53:25] behind progressivism or do we actually [00:53:27] care about the definition of the family [00:53:29] do we actually care about human nature [00:53:32] and who human beings are and like the [00:53:34] definition of marriage all these things [00:53:35] that built western civilization and gave [00:53:37] us all of the freedoms of western [00:53:39] civilization do we still care about [00:53:41] those things or are we just like [00:53:43] anti-work capitalists personally i don't [00:53:46] think that's going to last so do i think [00:53:48] that we can invite people in who [00:53:49] disagree with us on things yes as long [00:53:51] as we are able to agree on what we [00:53:54] really are who we really are as [00:53:56] conservatives and what we're going for [00:53:59] um i don't think we fully agree on that [00:54:01] right now but i do think it's an [00:54:02] interesting moment for us to be like [00:54:04] having the debates within conservatism [00:54:06] to really try to define ourselves and [00:54:09] define our movements so [00:54:11] we'll see i feel like it's kind of [00:54:13] piecing together and i think over the [00:54:14] next few years and the next election is [00:54:16] really going to tell us a lot [00:54:24] hello so [00:54:25] something that i have noticed since [00:54:28] getting more involved in politics as [00:54:30] christian and being in college [00:54:32] is um [00:54:34] i think it happens on both sides but [00:54:36] more on the right recently is that the [00:54:38] role of politics often replaces the role [00:54:41] of faith in people's lives [00:54:44] and [00:54:45] um like i have some friend who i notice [00:54:47] this in [00:54:49] um so as a christian [00:54:51] how can we get [00:54:53] people to focus on their faith maybe as [00:54:56] much as they do on their politics when [00:55:00] because reality is that's not gonna last [00:55:02] when that's their foundation and that's [00:55:04] you know not the truth and what [00:55:06] ultimately matters and why we're doing [00:55:08] this at the end of the day yeah yeah [00:55:10] that's a great question um well i've [00:55:12] seen it so i've seen two things happen [00:55:15] one i've seen when people like when [00:55:17] people come to faith their politics [00:55:19] change and they tend to just get more [00:55:21] conservative they just do but also i've [00:55:23] seen people that become more [00:55:25] conservative politically who try to [00:55:26] understand okay where does conservatism [00:55:28] come from who is this god that gave us [00:55:30] these inherent rights and i've seen [00:55:32] people kind of come to faith through [00:55:34] that and so i think it's possible [00:55:36] certainly for those work things to work [00:55:38] together for someone to be interested in [00:55:40] politics and then be interested in like [00:55:41] the worldview implications of that and [00:55:43] the foundation of it but you're [00:55:45] absolutely right that we can't idolize [00:55:47] politics or politicians we can't [00:55:50] deify the people that we elect as if [00:55:52] they're going to save us so i don't know [00:55:54] necessarily how we can convince people [00:55:58] to [00:55:59] to not idolize not idolize politics [00:56:02] besides just sharing and living out the [00:56:04] gospel ourselves to make sure that we [00:56:06] are kingdom minded that that doesn't [00:56:08] mean that you're not going to be [00:56:09] partisan in some ways but [00:56:11] in keeping their perspective in your own [00:56:13] mind and then the conversations that you [00:56:14] have that at the end of the day like [00:56:16] there is one ruler there is one outcome [00:56:19] of all of this in the meantime the [00:56:21] things we do absolutely matter but [00:56:23] remembering your why like why did [00:56:25] politics matter why what is really [00:56:28] motivating you as an eternity or is just [00:56:30] winning the next election um so it's [00:56:32] making sure that you are living that out [00:56:34] in your own life and having the [00:56:35] conversations that you can in your own [00:56:36] life about that just doing everything [00:56:38] that you can to cultivate this fear that [00:56:40] god's put you in [00:56:42] thank you [00:56:48] hi i'm sophia and i just had a question [00:56:50] about the midterms coming up what are [00:56:51] some things that you feel like that we [00:56:53] should be aware of or should be looking [00:56:55] out for [00:56:59] um well there's definitely going to be [00:57:01] some sort of like [00:57:03] big thing i'm sure that happens this [00:57:05] summer or fall [00:57:06] that democrats will try to use in their [00:57:08] favor obviously joe biden's [00:57:11] approval ratings are really low they're [00:57:13] in the low 40s high 30s which is not [00:57:16] good and so they're going to be trying [00:57:17] to do everything they can they're either [00:57:19] going to have some kind of catastrophe [00:57:21] or crisis that's going to pull on [00:57:24] everyone's empathy strings that tells [00:57:25] them if you don't vote democrat that our [00:57:27] democracy is over racism and white [00:57:29] supremacy are going to run rampant or [00:57:31] whatever it is they did that with [00:57:32] kavanaugh in 2018 that actually [00:57:34] backfired and then of course in 2020 [00:57:37] all of the [00:57:38] like racial explosion conversations that [00:57:41] we were having they really tried to play [00:57:43] into their favor so we can expect they [00:57:46] always will play on the feelings they [00:57:47] will always pull the heartstrings there [00:57:49] will be something that happens or they [00:57:52] will take a different approach and [00:57:53] they'll try to make us forget [00:57:55] the [00:57:56] absolutely hellacious nightmare of covid [00:57:58] restrictions and they'll just kind of [00:57:59] let us ease into the slumber of normalcy [00:58:02] and think oh yeah joe biden is doing [00:58:04] great so they might try to mitigate any [00:58:06] kind of like turbulence that his [00:58:08] presidency is causing [00:58:10] that's going to be difficult to do [00:58:12] because they can't fully control [00:58:13] inflation they can't go back on all the [00:58:15] policies that they enacted um and [00:58:19] whatever happens foreign policy-wise is [00:58:21] going to happen so that's going to be [00:58:22] difficult for them so we just have to [00:58:24] stay on guard as we always do we fact [00:58:27] check every narrative that we see if [00:58:29] something sounds [00:58:31] fishy then we should look into it and [00:58:33] then we amplify the fact check of the [00:58:36] narratives um that's one thing that we [00:58:38] can do and obviously the conversations [00:58:40] that we have with our friends and all [00:58:41] that um [00:58:43] yeah just be ready just be ready [00:58:44] there'll be a lot of deception a lot of [00:58:46] propaganda a lot of policing of [00:58:49] misinformation over the next few months [00:58:52] and we just have to do everything that [00:58:53] we can to double down on the truth [00:59:02] hi [00:59:02] so my question was you talked about [00:59:05] having these hills to die on and these [00:59:07] really important issues i was wondering [00:59:10] was there a moment or like an issue [00:59:12] for you that made you say i have to [00:59:14] stand up i have to do something [00:59:16] yeah i think that they can change in [00:59:18] your in different stages of life like [00:59:20] i'm a mom of two little ones and so i'm [00:59:22] especially sensitive towards the kinds [00:59:24] of things that are being told to them [00:59:27] and how they're being educated in the [00:59:29] different forms of media [00:59:31] and also just the messages that they're [00:59:33] hearing about like who human beings are [00:59:35] and gender and all of that [00:59:37] that became a big one for me [00:59:40] more after becoming a mom probably but [00:59:42] then abortion abortion probably too [00:59:46] because pregnancy gosh it just changes [00:59:48] so much of how you think about life [00:59:50] inside the womb um but i would say those [00:59:52] are like the two things that i just [00:59:55] think [00:59:56] human rights fundamental human rights [00:59:58] rest on where our country goes on those [01:00:01] two issues so it wasn't really like a [01:00:03] moment as much as it's just kind of my [01:00:06] thought process has changed and [01:00:08] strengthened over time and i've seen the [01:00:11] adversary on the other side and what [01:00:13] that looks like and i think i can see [01:00:14] pretty well where it will go if they'll [01:00:16] if they get their way so it's just kind [01:00:19] of i don't know um it's just those are [01:00:21] the two things that i think like stir [01:00:23] the most fire in my heart at least at [01:00:26] least as far as like culture and [01:00:27] political issues go so i think it [01:00:29] doesn't necessarily have to be like this [01:00:31] one feeling of oh my gosh this is it it [01:00:34] can also be like a very analytical [01:00:36] assessment [01:00:37] okay where has god placed me what's the [01:00:39] issue that's before me [01:00:41] um what am i good at what are some of my [01:00:43] strengths what makes me feel like i'm [01:00:45] really using my talent in a way that is [01:00:47] fulfilling and glorifies god what [01:00:49] opportunity is in front of me really the [01:00:51] only thing that you can do is take the [01:00:53] next right step in faith and [01:00:56] things i mean your hills that you'll die [01:00:58] on will change over time and that's okay [01:01:00] you don't have to pick one and stick [01:01:02] with it forever [01:01:04] [Applause] [01:01:09] hi um i am no student i'm actually a mom [01:01:12] in the same age range as you um but i [01:01:15] wanted to thank you for speaking to [01:01:17] these students about relevant issues for [01:01:19] them [01:01:20] um you spoke a little bit on the white [01:01:22] woman's instagram thing yeah um [01:01:26] so in the last few years i've had some [01:01:28] conversations with [01:01:29] leftist friends of mine um one of them [01:01:33] was a christian [01:01:34] and [01:01:36] the conversations have been very [01:01:37] difficult because they are [01:01:40] certain that they are racist because [01:01:43] they're white yeah and um trying to [01:01:46] convince me that i am also racist and [01:01:48] being very adamant that i am definitely [01:01:51] not and i don't think i've ever shown [01:01:53] them any ways in which i am a racist [01:01:56] um [01:01:56] [Music] [01:01:58] but [01:01:58] the way this world is right now and what [01:02:01] these students are being taught in [01:02:02] school [01:02:04] um [01:02:05] i it seems very bleak to me and i'm [01:02:07] interested to hear [01:02:09] one how you respond to friends or um [01:02:12] critics like this and to what you see [01:02:16] may be happening in the next few years [01:02:17] in this in that arena yeah [01:02:20] um i had a couple friends like that [01:02:22] certainly in 2020 that were posting [01:02:23] things about the 1619 project and [01:02:25] posting memes about bible verses that [01:02:28] didn't mean what they said that they [01:02:30] meant and in some cases i would reach [01:02:32] out and i would just give my perspective [01:02:34] and i'd say here's why i think that this [01:02:35] is wrong and we would have it back and [01:02:37] forth and then it would just end with [01:02:38] okay agree to disagree now since that [01:02:41] time those friends have abandoned a lot [01:02:43] of the views [01:02:45] that they did then it just kind of was a [01:02:47] heat of the moment emotional kind of [01:02:49] reaction to what was going on so you do [01:02:51] kind of have to give space and patience [01:02:53] um i think the greatest tactic that [01:02:55] anyone can employ when you're having [01:02:57] those kind of difficult conversations [01:02:58] with friends is asking questions you [01:03:00] don't have to have an answer to [01:03:02] everything they say to every accusation [01:03:04] you ask what do you mean by this what do [01:03:07] you mean what do you mean by racist okay [01:03:10] well let them give you that definition [01:03:11] because obviously they mean something [01:03:13] other than overt racist actions they [01:03:15] mean underlying prejudices underlying [01:03:18] biases that apparently you can't control [01:03:20] and so then you ask well where did you [01:03:22] get that definition and you could say [01:03:24] well my definition is this where did you [01:03:25] get your definition oh what gives the [01:03:28] the person that authority to define what [01:03:29] racism is where did you read that and so [01:03:32] you just keep digging and digging and [01:03:33] digging you have to be able to define [01:03:35] your terms and be on the same playing [01:03:36] field with the definitions of the words [01:03:38] that you're using or else you'll keep [01:03:40] talking over each other and it also [01:03:42] gives you a beat to be like you know [01:03:43] what i don't know the answer to that [01:03:44] question or that accusation [01:03:46] you don't have to know you can just keep [01:03:48] asking and really get them to think it [01:03:50] really works with abortion too just [01:03:53] asking over and over again what they [01:03:54] mean why they think that where they came [01:03:56] to that conclusion well what do they [01:03:57] think about this um and then you can [01:04:00] offer like in humility you can say hey [01:04:02] like would you listen to this podcast [01:04:04] this kind of reflects my perspective on [01:04:06] it i i'd be happy to listen to something [01:04:08] that reflects your perspective and maybe [01:04:10] we can swap and come back and have a [01:04:12] conversation so i think coming at it [01:04:14] from a place of curiosity even if you [01:04:16] already know your position um it can [01:04:18] make them really think about it and [01:04:20] maybe their minds won't change right [01:04:21] then but they really could change down [01:04:23] the line so that's the advice i would [01:04:25] give you [01:04:31] hi my name is jaden [01:04:33] some teachers have been teaching gender [01:04:35] identity and sexual orientation to kids [01:04:37] at such a young age and they're so [01:04:39] easily influenced [01:04:41] why are teachers teaching these ideas [01:04:43] and how can we prevent this in our [01:04:45] education system [01:04:47] also are educators getting into [01:04:48] education and teaching for the wrong [01:04:50] reasons [01:04:51] good questions i'm sure that there are [01:04:53] different reasons why teachers teach the [01:04:55] things that they do i'm sure that there [01:04:57] is a group of people a group of teachers [01:04:59] who just think that they are teaching [01:05:00] empathy and inclusion and tolerance [01:05:02] that's what they've been told they think [01:05:04] that they're just showing kids a wide [01:05:05] array of people to help them be more [01:05:07] accepting the reality is the power of [01:05:09] suggestion is really strong it's strong [01:05:11] for any of us have you ever like just [01:05:14] been walking around and someone comes up [01:05:15] to you and it's like oh you don't look [01:05:17] like you're feeling too well you're like [01:05:18] actually i feel great but now i feel [01:05:20] sick because someone suggested to you [01:05:23] and like put something in your head that [01:05:24] you aren't feeling well it really [01:05:25] changes how you think and that's us as [01:05:28] adults like we as adults are still [01:05:30] reasoning through this whole gender [01:05:31] identity madness think about a child [01:05:33] you're so impressionable your mind is [01:05:36] literally created to be malleable and to [01:05:37] be influenced and to be taught you have [01:05:39] an adult in authority who gets to tell [01:05:42] you what to do who is telling you that [01:05:44] you might be in the wrong body that like [01:05:46] you can be a different gender or they [01:05:49] were born in the wrong body they can be [01:05:50] a different gender whatever it is um [01:05:53] that's kids are very impressionable and [01:05:56] it can really confuse them and that's [01:05:58] again just being a mom and seeing like [01:05:59] my toddler figure out and observe the [01:06:02] differences between men and women and [01:06:03] she's still figuring out pronouns the [01:06:05] thought of intentionally confusing her [01:06:08] and being like oh i know that you just [01:06:10] figured out that like woman is she but [01:06:12] actually that's not always the case that [01:06:14] is so cruel to me like that is so [01:06:16] torturous to me and the greatest gift [01:06:19] that we can give young people is clarity [01:06:21] and truth and i think a lot of people [01:06:23] just [01:06:24] interlace confusion in their curriculum [01:06:26] because they think that they're doing [01:06:27] the right thing of course i think [01:06:29] there's another group of teachers who [01:06:30] are just true ideologues they really [01:06:32] want activists in the classroom it makes [01:06:35] them feel more normal if they can think [01:06:37] that they are disciplining a generation [01:06:38] of young people to be as confused and [01:06:40] self-loathing as they are misery loves [01:06:42] company and so i think that that is also [01:06:45] part of it um and then of course i think [01:06:47] that there are nefarious people there [01:06:49] are nefarious people who [01:06:51] like as disturbing as it is [01:06:54] if you read like psychology today a few [01:06:56] years ago had like the warning signs of [01:06:59] a child predator of a true groomer and [01:07:01] one of them was talking to young [01:07:03] children about sex and talking to them [01:07:05] about sexuality getting them thinking [01:07:06] about that kind of thing that is a [01:07:08] warning sign so is telling a child that [01:07:11] you're going to share a secret with them [01:07:13] that you're not going to tell their [01:07:14] parents so if a child says hey i'm sally [01:07:16] but i think i want to be jack i'm going [01:07:18] to go by he him and the teacher says [01:07:21] okay this will be our little secret red [01:07:23] flag grooming behavior absolutely i mean [01:07:26] i think libs of tick tock has shown us [01:07:28] that there are those kinds of nefarious [01:07:31] people that just want to talk to kids [01:07:33] about sex and it's sick so to be fair [01:07:36] there are different groups of people now [01:07:38] for your other question [01:07:40] do i think that teachers get into the [01:07:43] job for the wrong reason [01:07:44] yes this is true of any helping [01:07:46] profession i've realized that [01:07:49] like nurses teachers and counselors have [01:07:52] both the best people in the world in [01:07:53] those professions and the worst people [01:07:55] in the world in those professions [01:07:56] because you have people who are truly [01:07:58] equipped to help people and then you [01:08:00] have people who really need help and [01:08:02] they get into those professions because [01:08:03] they're attracted to that and actually [01:08:05] they are unstable and need the help that [01:08:08] they are seeking to give other people i [01:08:10] think that that is like one problem with [01:08:12] our whole therapy industry today but [01:08:14] it's also a big problem with education [01:08:16] you got unstable actually child-like [01:08:19] people who are getting into that role [01:08:21] and they're just [01:08:22] um [01:08:23] influencing other people with the same [01:08:25] misery and confusion that they feel so i [01:08:27] hope that answers your question [01:08:31] [Applause] [01:08:33] [Music] [01:08:34] hi i'm melissa i'm wondering what [01:08:36] long-term effect do you think the masks [01:08:38] will have on school children today they [01:08:40] want to hide their faces all the time [01:08:42] and i think a lot of them are just [01:08:44] insecure with themselves yes i think so [01:08:46] too i think for young kids it really [01:08:48] breaks my heart because i know that [01:08:50] there's going to be a lot of speech [01:08:51] delays especially like [01:08:54] babies too who go to day care and all [01:08:56] the caretakers were wearing masks i mean [01:08:58] that is something that we're told like [01:09:00] as as parents as as teachers you're told [01:09:03] the importance of kids being able to see [01:09:05] you smile being able to like see how [01:09:07] your mouth is moving to articulate [01:09:09] certain words you take that out of a [01:09:12] young person's experience they i don't [01:09:14] know if they're ever going to catch up [01:09:15] speech-wise honestly i i really don't [01:09:18] especially compared to their peers who [01:09:19] had a normal childhood and that just [01:09:22] breaks my heart especially when there [01:09:24] was no data ever whatsoever that proved [01:09:27] that that was stopping the spread at all [01:09:29] um and so that's really sad now for [01:09:31] older kids i have also seen that they [01:09:34] are the ones that are like most reticent [01:09:37] to take their masks off i have seen you [01:09:40] know like 13 14 years old to like 17 it [01:09:43] seems like they are some of the people [01:09:45] that are the most scared i think it's [01:09:47] probably because they're online they're [01:09:48] on tick tock they're on social media [01:09:50] they are also very susceptible to group [01:09:52] think and propaganda all of us are when [01:09:55] we're that age our frontal lobe hasn't [01:09:56] developed and of course if adults and [01:09:59] influencers in your life told you for [01:10:02] two years you're gonna die and you're [01:10:03] gonna kill your grandma that's hard to [01:10:05] let go of it's absolutely evil what we [01:10:08] did to young people in the way of [01:10:10] indoctrination in the way of [01:10:11] fear-mongering you don't order society [01:10:14] by sacrificing young for the old you [01:10:16] just don't like i love elderly people i [01:10:19] love vulnerable people i don't want to [01:10:20] intentionally sacrifice them but we [01:10:23] order society by taking care of the [01:10:25] future generations that are going to [01:10:27] replace us first and we absolutely [01:10:29] failed at that it was a terrible social [01:10:31] experiment um and gosh i just hope that [01:10:34] parents who have woken up that they do [01:10:36] everything they can to [01:10:38] reintroduce their children to normalcy [01:10:41] insanity and stability it's literally [01:10:43] our only hope [01:10:45] thank you [01:10:51] hello um i'm christian thank you so much [01:10:53] for being here tonight um we really [01:10:55] appreciate it thank you and so my [01:10:57] question is um if i'm not very [01:10:59] confrontational how can i make a big [01:11:01] difference without being loud and out [01:11:03] there yeah you do not have to be [01:11:05] confrontational or loud and out there to [01:11:07] make a difference um [01:11:09] i know that we talk a lot about using [01:11:11] your voice on social media and things [01:11:13] like that which is something you can do [01:11:15] but not everyone is called to that like [01:11:17] any movement any institution needs all [01:11:20] different kinds of people actually like [01:11:21] as a christian we talk about the church [01:11:23] being the body of christ there are [01:11:25] different members of the body of christ [01:11:26] that have different functions and really [01:11:28] so it is in any body or entity you need [01:11:32] people with different skills you need [01:11:34] people who are good at organization you [01:11:35] need good at people who are good at [01:11:37] motivation you need people who are good [01:11:39] at casting a vision you need people who [01:11:41] are good at execution um and so you [01:11:44] need to examine like what are you good [01:11:46] at what do you enjoy doing it doesn't [01:11:48] have to be in front of a camera gosh he [01:11:50] doesn't have to be on a stage doesn't [01:11:51] have to be speaking at all like are you [01:11:53] technically proficient what can you do [01:11:56] to help you know a pro-life group on [01:11:59] campus or whatever it is um and i think [01:12:02] the most important thing for all of us [01:12:03] is living with integrity and living not [01:12:05] by lies ourselves and making sure we're [01:12:08] just taking the next [01:12:09] right step but certainly you do not have [01:12:12] to be an influencer to have influence [01:12:14] that is [01:12:15] if you hear anything i say today you do [01:12:17] not have to be an influencer to have [01:12:19] influence there are a million different [01:12:20] ways that god has gifted you that can be [01:12:22] effective to help the world around you [01:12:24] so just find those and cultivate those [01:12:27] and don't feel pressured to do something [01:12:29] that you're not called to do [01:12:33] [Applause] [01:12:35] hi also thank you so much for being here [01:12:37] tonight um i ended up getting pulled out [01:12:39] of public school my sophomore year [01:12:41] because the way the education system the [01:12:43] public school education system was [01:12:45] failing kids [01:12:47] but when it comes to kids and education [01:12:48] system we see that our school system is [01:12:50] not really teaching our kids [01:12:52] and or they're just indoctrinating them [01:12:55] do you think that conservative parents [01:12:57] pulling out their kids is a part of the [01:12:58] problem rather than keeping [01:13:00] conservatives in school and ultimately [01:13:03] it is up to the parents but what is your [01:13:05] advice to parents nowadays like trying [01:13:07] to decide whether they should keep their [01:13:09] kids inside the public school system or [01:13:11] if they should private school them or [01:13:12] homeschool them [01:13:14] okay this is my opinion there are a lot [01:13:16] of people who disagree with this that i [01:13:18] you know in good faith disagreements and [01:13:21] it's fine [01:13:22] my opinion is that parents should pull [01:13:24] their kids out of public school [01:13:27] um [01:13:29] and you can still be involved you're a [01:13:32] taxpayer and so you get to go to the [01:13:34] local school board if you want to say [01:13:36] over what's being read in schools like [01:13:38] you should have a say because those kids [01:13:41] are a part of your community and a part [01:13:42] of your society so it's still an [01:13:44] investment that you should make but your [01:13:46] kids don't have to be reading it like [01:13:48] your kids don't have to be on the front [01:13:50] lines i hear this argument a lot from [01:13:52] christians that we need our kids to be [01:13:53] like evangelists in these schools and i [01:13:56] just think that is such a burden to put [01:13:58] on young people like when they're not [01:13:59] even like you're not even big enough to [01:14:02] carry like your proverbial sword yet [01:14:04] like we need to train young people with [01:14:08] the best equipment and the best tools [01:14:10] and the best education that we possibly [01:14:12] can there's going to be a time [01:14:14] for [01:14:16] influence in the world like the world is [01:14:18] not getting any more moral or any more [01:14:20] sane and so why don't we equip kids as [01:14:22] best as we can with the best education [01:14:24] possible and then when they're ready [01:14:27] to go out they can [01:14:29] they can face the challenges but in [01:14:31] their back pocket they've got all the [01:14:33] tools that were afforded to them by the [01:14:34] best education that they could possibly [01:14:36] get they're well read they're critical [01:14:38] thinkers they're good writers they're [01:14:40] not just sitting there learning about [01:14:42] sel all day but they actually know math [01:14:44] they know science they they have the [01:14:46] tools to be excellent workers and to be [01:14:48] good employees and to be [01:14:50] active and productive citizens and i'm [01:14:52] not speaking for every public school but [01:14:54] a lot of public schools just aren't [01:14:55] giving that to kids to me it's not i [01:14:58] don't want to put my kids on the altar i [01:15:00] guess if other people want to sacrifice [01:15:02] their kids in the name of that they [01:15:03] can't i don't want my kids though to be [01:15:06] sacrificed in that way so i encourage [01:15:08] other people hey if you can get out of [01:15:10] public schools if you can homeschool if [01:15:12] you can get your kid a really good like [01:15:14] christian education then do that your [01:15:17] responsibility is to your children [01:15:19] you're stewarding their hearts and minds [01:15:21] not everyone else's kid [01:15:23] so that is my encouragement and my [01:15:25] advice to parents [01:15:30] okay that's it thank you guys so much [01:15:35] [Applause] [01:16:27] you

so much for being here i'm so [00:08:53] excited to see you the wonderful weather [00:08:56] that fairfax greeted me with thank you [00:08:59] so much for that [00:09:00] um okay there's a lot of fun good things [00:09:03] going on that i want to talk about that [00:09:05] i haven't been able to give any [00:09:06] commentary on and it's not usual [00:09:09] especially when we're talking about [00:09:10] conservative events and conservative [00:09:12] conferences that we have good things to [00:09:15] say [00:09:16] about the state of the world and the [00:09:18] state of the country just with how [00:09:20] things are going so three big things [00:09:22] three good things we're gonna do like [00:09:23] good news bad news and good news and [00:09:25] then like some encouragement and some [00:09:27] equipment so first piece of good news [00:09:30] elon musk can we get a round of applause [00:09:32] for elon musk [00:09:33] [Applause] [00:09:34] apparently he is buying twitter [00:09:36] something that i didn't think was going [00:09:38] to happen but is going to happen and [00:09:40] then the second big good thing that has [00:09:42] happened in the past couple of weeks is [00:09:43] that we have no more masks at the [00:09:45] airport [00:09:47] which is definitely worth a round of [00:09:48] applause i experienced that for the [00:09:50] first time today and since this is the [00:09:52] no more mandates tour um we'll have to [00:09:55] talk about that a little bit more and [00:09:56] then the third big good thing that i [00:09:58] think is happening that spells good [00:10:00] things for the future is ron desantis [00:10:03] and i could just end there probably for [00:10:05] a round of applause but ron desantis [00:10:08] doing something that many conservatives [00:10:10] and republicans are uncomfortable doing [00:10:13] and that is going after a major [00:10:15] corporation that has set itself against [00:10:18] the values of the people of the state of [00:10:20] florida and so yeah that's worth [00:10:22] applause i saw some people clapping [00:10:25] so there's some really good and exciting [00:10:28] things for us and the reason why i want [00:10:30] to start out with that is because i [00:10:32] think so often as young conservative [00:10:35] people you guys i if i'm still [00:10:37] considered a young conservative person [00:10:40] can get really discouraged about the [00:10:42] state of the world and certainly the [00:10:43] state of our country there are a lot of [00:10:47] bad things going on understandably so [00:10:50] this is kind of where we get in the get [00:10:52] with the bad news and just understand [00:10:54] what moment we're in and what time it is [00:10:56] which is i think so important for us to [00:10:58] be equipped to face whatever challenges [00:11:01] our generations are facing the fact of [00:11:04] the matter is is that we have a [00:11:06] commander-in-chief a president of the [00:11:07] united states who is not with us he is [00:11:10] not cognitively here that's a problem so [00:11:13] he's not just corrupt but he is also [00:11:16] incompetent he is not able to lead our [00:11:19] country that's really bad news for the [00:11:21] state of democracy for the state that [00:11:23] we're in we've got a lot of other things [00:11:26] that are kind of the consequence of that [00:11:28] of course we've got unprecedented levels [00:11:30] of illegal immigration that actually [00:11:32] just ended in the death of um [00:11:36] of an officer in texas because we have [00:11:40] just [00:11:41] given up our responsibility and our [00:11:43] obligation to protect our borders and to [00:11:45] protect our innocent citizens that [00:11:49] unfortunately it's leading to the loss [00:11:50] of life we've got unprecedented levels [00:11:53] of crime in some cities because of [00:11:56] lawless and progressive policy like bail [00:11:58] reform that is allowing criminals to go [00:12:02] back onto the streets in the name of [00:12:03] criminal justice that's hurting people [00:12:06] it's hurting communities [00:12:08] and then when you look on the moral [00:12:10] level the kind of culture war level of [00:12:12] course we're still subsidizing and [00:12:14] celebrating and allowing abortion [00:12:16] thousands of times a day we have a [00:12:18] supreme court justice who can't define [00:12:21] when life begins but she also can't even [00:12:23] say what a woman is [00:12:25] that says something about where we are [00:12:28] as a country not to mention the many [00:12:30] other policy disasters that i think that [00:12:32] we're facing that we're looking at right [00:12:34] now and i think a lot of you [00:12:36] i know that i feel this way sometimes [00:12:38] are looking at the future and you're [00:12:39] just wondering [00:12:41] are you still going to live or enjoy the [00:12:44] same kind of country [00:12:46] that i did growing up that people in [00:12:49] past generations did are we still going [00:12:51] to have the same freedoms the same [00:12:54] rights the same prosperity that we had [00:12:56] previously and i think it's really easy [00:12:59] to kind of feel nostalgic about that [00:13:01] especially over the last couple of years [00:13:03] you guys as people who are in high [00:13:05] school in college man like you had your [00:13:07] normalcy ripped out from under you it [00:13:10] was hard for the average person it was [00:13:12] hard for me as someone who is now 30 [00:13:14] years old and it was hard for our family [00:13:17] but i can't imagine for you guys you're [00:13:20] only [00:13:21] young once you're only a teenager once [00:13:24] you're only an adolescent once and for [00:13:26] the past two years you guys haven't been [00:13:28] able to make normal experiences [00:13:32] so i think it's normal for you guys for [00:13:34] people in your generation to feel a [00:13:35] little dejected [00:13:37] to feel a little pessimistic and [00:13:39] discouraged about the state of the world [00:13:41] and maybe sometimes you just wish that [00:13:43] you could go back that you wish that [00:13:45] things could be as they were before that [00:13:47] maybe if we could just have good old [00:13:49] 2019 [00:13:51] where things are at least a tad more [00:13:53] normal [00:13:54] but the fact of the matter is is that [00:13:56] we're not going back like there is no [00:13:59] going back to how things were [00:14:02] yes there are good things to celebrate [00:14:04] but we are not the country that we were [00:14:06] 20 years ago 30 years ago we're not the [00:14:09] country that we were two years ago [00:14:12] we don't have the same media we don't [00:14:14] have the same people we don't have the [00:14:15] same morals we don't have the same [00:14:17] values we don't have the same politics [00:14:19] we don't have the same unity as maybe we [00:14:22] once did [00:14:23] and so there's a little bit of sadness [00:14:25] there yes there's a little bit of [00:14:26] nostalgia when we realize that the [00:14:28] things just aren't going to be the same [00:14:31] but what i want to encourage you in and [00:14:34] i feel this so strongly [00:14:36] and this is one of the reasons why i [00:14:37] love talking to people in this [00:14:39] generation [00:14:40] is that you are absolutely pleased on [00:14:44] the timeline [00:14:46] and in the place in the location where [00:14:48] you were meant to be placed [00:14:50] that the challenges political and moral [00:14:53] and cultural that you guys are facing [00:14:56] are the challenges that you are meant to [00:14:58] face and that god placed you on this [00:15:01] tiny speck of eternity wherever he [00:15:04] placed you whatever location that's in [00:15:06] whatever campus that's on whatever [00:15:08] extracurriculars you're involved in for [00:15:10] a purpose [00:15:11] every generation has their [00:15:13] responsibilities [00:15:14] every generation has their torch [00:15:17] every generation has the obstacles that [00:15:19] are in front of them and the ones that [00:15:21] we're facing now [00:15:23] that in some ways feel insurmountable [00:15:26] they're not [00:15:28] they're totally challengeable they're [00:15:30] totally [00:15:31] overcomeable every generation has to [00:15:34] face with courage and with sobriety and [00:15:38] with critical thinking and with an [00:15:41] attitude of problem solving whatever [00:15:44] issues are before you [00:15:46] so all of the issues that i just listed [00:15:49] all of the cultural and moral rot [00:15:51] that we really see kind of pervading our [00:15:53] institutions pervading academia [00:15:55] pervading our education system i'm sure [00:15:58] you guys feel it a lot of your friends a [00:16:00] lot of people in your generation just [00:16:02] aren't able to think critically they're [00:16:05] not able to articulate good arguments [00:16:07] they really are just kind of imbibing [00:16:09] this emotional propaganda that they see [00:16:11] on tick tock [00:16:13] like the the [00:16:15] the their entire political worldview [00:16:17] their entire perspective on what's going [00:16:20] on in the world is shaped by a meme that [00:16:22] they saw on instagram [00:16:24] like it's a really daunting task to face [00:16:27] that [00:16:28] and to feel like if you don't go along [00:16:31] with the mainstream narrative about [00:16:33] whatever it is whether it's about gender [00:16:35] or whether it's about abortion those [00:16:37] really kind of controversial hot topic [00:16:39] issues it's really daunting to feel like [00:16:42] you are going to be the only one who's [00:16:44] swimming upstream that you're kind of [00:16:45] like a human salmon [00:16:47] i realize that's not easy i didn't have [00:16:50] all of the same challenges that you guys [00:16:52] did growing up we didn't have all the [00:16:54] same social media outlets i've heard [00:16:56] from some of you guys that you feel [00:16:58] bullied that you're scared to speak up [00:17:00] you're scared to speak your mind because [00:17:02] your professor your teacher your parents [00:17:04] friend or one of your friends is going [00:17:06] to bully you or maybe punish you in some [00:17:08] way or treat you differently and that [00:17:10] can be really scary but the fact of the [00:17:13] matter is is that the challenges that we [00:17:15] face the obstacles that we face as a [00:17:17] nation they require a lot of courage [00:17:20] they require a lot of boldness they [00:17:22] require people being willing to swim [00:17:24] upstream [00:17:25] being willing to be human salmon being [00:17:28] willing to say the thing that is [00:17:30] unpopular but true [00:17:32] and i think the evidence is that we see [00:17:34] of that that that can still work [00:17:36] like even when we feel like all hope is [00:17:38] lost sometimes the craziness of our [00:17:40] country especially over the past two [00:17:42] years [00:17:43] like are the three things that we talked [00:17:45] about at the beginning of this one the [00:17:47] elon musk is taking over twitter [00:17:50] like if anyone told you that elon musk [00:17:53] was going to be the guy that could [00:17:55] potentially save free speech for an [00:17:57] entire generation would you have [00:17:59] believed me a year ago i mean i wouldn't [00:18:01] have believed that if someone told me [00:18:03] that and now that's not to say that elon [00:18:05] musk is some you know savior of western [00:18:08] civilization or that he is even like a [00:18:10] moral exemplar that we need to follow [00:18:13] but really all it takes is one person [00:18:15] with courage and [00:18:17] billions of dollars [00:18:18] uh to say hey i don't think that this is [00:18:21] right i think i want to change things i [00:18:23] think i want to change the rules and to [00:18:25] me [00:18:26] you know there's some argument there's [00:18:28] some argumentation there's some back and [00:18:29] forth between the right about whether or [00:18:32] not we should really be applauding elon [00:18:34] musk does he really share our values and [00:18:36] there are arguments to be had about that [00:18:38] but look [00:18:39] i think we know very well as [00:18:41] conservatives a person does not have to [00:18:43] be perfect in order to be effective [00:18:46] and a change doesn't have to be [00:18:49] wielded by a perfect person in order to [00:18:52] have influence in order to have impact [00:18:55] and you know all this happened elon musk [00:18:58] taking charge of twitter which really is [00:18:59] like the public square and someone being [00:19:02] kicked off twitter it makes a [00:19:04] significant impact not just in their [00:19:06] lives and their ability to provide for [00:19:07] themselves and their ability to [00:19:09] contribute individually um [00:19:12] to the the public conversation but [00:19:16] it also has a significant impact on [00:19:18] things like elections like if you think [00:19:20] about the whole hunter biden laptop [00:19:22] story that was stopped it was stopped by [00:19:25] twitter and multiple media outlets right [00:19:28] before the election because they thought [00:19:29] it was going to hurt joe biden i mean [00:19:31] that's significant like we are talking [00:19:34] about unelected [00:19:36] executives that corporations trying to [00:19:38] up in democracy and elon musk saying [00:19:41] that he's not going to stand for that [00:19:42] that could have serious ripple effects [00:19:46] on our elections and on the future of [00:19:48] our country and really the world as a [00:19:49] whole and this all started because the [00:19:53] babylon bee [00:19:56] made fun of our assistant health [00:19:58] secretary [00:19:59] and said that he is a he instead of a [00:20:02] she his name is i think he goes by [00:20:04] rachel levine i think the babylon v made [00:20:07] a joke about that they got kicked off [00:20:09] twitter and elon musk is a really big [00:20:10] fan of the babylon b and i guess that's [00:20:13] just kind of what started it which is [00:20:14] crazy a satire site the babylon bees [00:20:17] said that a man is a man and elon musk [00:20:20] said [00:20:20] you know not on my watch you're not [00:20:22] gonna get kicked off and he literally [00:20:24] just bought twitter today what that's [00:20:26] crazy like wouldn't you love to have [00:20:28] that kind of capital you're mad at [00:20:29] someone you're like i'm just gonna buy [00:20:31] this whole thing [00:20:32] and just take it over and so that but [00:20:35] that is a result listen that is a result [00:20:38] of the babylon bee and i know those guys [00:20:40] they're really good people telling the [00:20:42] truth [00:20:43] and the babylon bee is just a company [00:20:45] that was started by [00:20:47] normal people who thought it was funny [00:20:49] to make kind of christian conservative [00:20:51] satire and then it blew up because they [00:20:54] were willing to tell the truth in a way [00:20:55] that was funny willing to say [00:20:57] uncomfortable things in a way that was [00:20:59] effective in a way that got attention [00:21:01] they literally got the attention of the [00:21:03] richest person in the world and he [00:21:04] bought twitter and maybe saved democracy [00:21:06] no big deal um but it started it started [00:21:10] small like it started from people saying [00:21:13] things that were true it started from [00:21:14] people saying things that were [00:21:16] uncomfortable and now [00:21:18] this huge [00:21:20] monumental moment is occurring that [00:21:23] really could have such a significant and [00:21:25] positive impact for free speech [00:21:27] worldwide and it started small it [00:21:29] started with people being willing to say [00:21:31] things that are true and being punished [00:21:34] for saying things that are true so [00:21:35] that's one lesson for us and then i [00:21:37] think the second thing if we look at the [00:21:40] repealing of the mask mandates by judge [00:21:43] mizell i had never heard of her before [00:21:45] she's in florida she seems great and so [00:21:48] now we don't have to wear masks at least [00:21:50] for now on airplanes and we've been [00:21:52] waiting for that day that was kind of [00:21:54] like the last thing it felt like that [00:21:56] was finally going to help us feel normal [00:21:58] if we no longer had to wear masks on [00:22:01] airplanes and it's kind of been a [00:22:02] trickle effect there have been things [00:22:04] that have still been in place [00:22:06] unfortunately there are toddlers who are [00:22:07] still forced to wear masks in places [00:22:09] like new york city to preschool [00:22:11] but we have been raising a ruckus for [00:22:14] the past two years about the [00:22:16] ineffectiveness of mass mandates i'm [00:22:19] telling you that this would not have [00:22:21] happened this decision wouldn't have [00:22:23] been made because the case wouldn't have [00:22:25] even been taken to court if regular [00:22:28] people hadn't stood up in the very [00:22:29] beginning and say [00:22:31] and said this is unconstitutional this [00:22:33] is against liberty this is against [00:22:35] science there's no data whatsoever [00:22:38] proving that mass mandates work you can [00:22:40] compare all the data of all the [00:22:42] different states those that have had [00:22:43] mass mandates those that haven't had [00:22:45] mass mandates you can compare and [00:22:47] contrast their coveted rates their death [00:22:49] rates you'll see no difference [00:22:50] whatsoever [00:22:52] this would not have happened this step [00:22:53] towards normalcy and getting back to [00:22:56] liberty would not have happened [00:22:58] if normal people hadn't stood up when it [00:23:01] was unpopular when people were getting [00:23:03] de-platformed and saying hey these mask [00:23:06] mandates these vaccine mandates they're [00:23:08] not right they're not scientific they're [00:23:10] not moral they're not ethical and [00:23:12] they're not constitutional so that big [00:23:15] change happens because some people in [00:23:17] the very beginning were willing to go on [00:23:19] twitter and go on instagram and go on [00:23:21] their platforms and say i think that [00:23:23] this is wrong and they were willing to [00:23:25] risk their jobs to do something like [00:23:27] that and it took time [00:23:29] but the people the individuals and the [00:23:32] health i think it's the [00:23:35] health defense fund there's some word [00:23:37] that i'm missing in there that ended up [00:23:40] filing the suit and that's how it was [00:23:42] decided to take the uh mass command date [00:23:44] away on airplanes these are just normal [00:23:46] people [00:23:47] these are just people who felt like it [00:23:49] was wrong and they decided to take an [00:23:50] uncomfortable stand when other people [00:23:52] weren't and that made a really big [00:23:54] difference we're not seeing that in [00:23:56] places like canada where you still have [00:23:58] to have a vaccine in order to fly not [00:24:00] just a mask you can't even get on a [00:24:01] plane without a vaccine so we can see [00:24:04] that here in the united states it is [00:24:06] still possible that your voice matters [00:24:09] as small and as insignificant as you [00:24:11] think it might be those are just two [00:24:12] examples [00:24:14] and then [00:24:15] you've got someone like ron desantis [00:24:17] he was doing something really different [00:24:19] and in my opinion we can maybe talk [00:24:21] about this in the q a if you're [00:24:22] interested in my opinion really [00:24:24] important from a conservative [00:24:26] perspective [00:24:27] he is pushing back against disney [00:24:30] because of their opposition to the [00:24:32] parental rights and education bill which [00:24:35] simply said hey if you're at a public [00:24:37] school you as a school district you [00:24:39] cannot [00:24:41] keep secrets about a child's well-being [00:24:43] from their parent pretty straightforward [00:24:45] you can't teach kindergarten through [00:24:47] third graders about things like sexual [00:24:49] or sexual orientation or gender identity [00:24:51] that's five to nine year olds i think [00:24:53] that's pretty straightforward that's all [00:24:55] the bill said it was seven pages long [00:24:57] disney said this is a violation of human [00:25:00] rights [00:25:01] as if if there is a human right to teach [00:25:03] a five-year-old about puberty blockers [00:25:05] they were very upset about this [00:25:07] apparently disney is very passionate [00:25:09] about this kind of thing for young [00:25:11] children [00:25:12] and disney said that it is going to be [00:25:14] their goal to see this law overturned to [00:25:17] see this repealed so basically this [00:25:21] california-based corporation very [00:25:23] lucrative very powerful [00:25:25] said that they were committed to [00:25:27] overturning a law that was passed by [00:25:30] duly elected state lawmakers and a [00:25:33] governor [00:25:34] and most republicans [00:25:37] would typically say well that's okay [00:25:40] free market capitalism they can do what [00:25:42] they want to do they can say what they [00:25:44] want to say [00:25:45] but i think that there are a few [00:25:48] politicians a few governors who [00:25:49] understand what time it is [00:25:51] and who understand that the left has [00:25:54] been weaponizing their power and [00:25:57] institutions for decades against [00:26:00] average normal powerless citizens [00:26:03] who don't agree with them if you think [00:26:05] about the cake baker and the florist and [00:26:08] the coach whose case was being heard [00:26:10] today by the supreme court who all had [00:26:12] their lives ruined by state governments [00:26:15] who went after them for exercising their [00:26:17] religious liberty i think ron desantis [00:26:20] and florida republicans said you know [00:26:21] what i think it's enough of that let us [00:26:23] use all of the tools and the power that [00:26:26] is available to us to revoke this [00:26:28] privilege of disney if they say that [00:26:30] they are going to up into the democracy [00:26:32] of our state they're not going to get [00:26:33] away with that [00:26:35] and that's a different approach that's a [00:26:37] different approach than most republicans [00:26:38] take that's a different approach than [00:26:40] what a lot of conservatives are [00:26:41] comfortable with but quite frankly that [00:26:44] is the kind of fight that we need [00:26:46] like that's the kind of ideological war [00:26:48] that we're in that's the kind of battle [00:26:51] that we're in really for the soul of our [00:26:52] nation for the values that we care about [00:26:55] for the institutions and the principles [00:26:57] that we hold dear and again all of that [00:26:59] started from normal people speaking up [00:27:02] about the problems that were in our [00:27:04] education system parents going to school [00:27:07] board meetings students saying hey i've [00:27:09] got this curriculum it's it's um a [00:27:12] little sketchy or it doesn't seem right [00:27:14] to say that sex is something that's just [00:27:16] assigned at birth or this kind of [00:27:18] critical race theory race essentialism [00:27:20] that a lot of young people are learning [00:27:22] in schools all of that started just from [00:27:24] regular people speaking up about the [00:27:27] things that matter [00:27:29] so that's why i'm optimistic really for [00:27:32] the future of our country because just [00:27:34] looking at those three things there's [00:27:35] probably a million other things [00:27:37] i see the power of the individual the [00:27:39] power of someone's voice the power of [00:27:42] someone taking a stand and being [00:27:44] courageous and being willing to do and [00:27:46] say the unpopular thing big monumental [00:27:49] things can happen [00:27:50] you have no idea which flap of the [00:27:53] butterfly wing you are [00:27:55] you have no idea what ripple you are if [00:27:57] you think that speaking up on social [00:27:59] media or having a conversation with your [00:28:01] friend or organizing on campus doesn't [00:28:03] matter you have no idea [00:28:05] when it seems like one thing is [00:28:07] happening a million things are happening [00:28:10] things that i just listed there are [00:28:12] millions of different people who [00:28:13] contributed to it just by doing the [00:28:16] unpopular thing [00:28:18] so i just want to encourage you guys [00:28:20] that i know that you're facing a lot on [00:28:22] campus at school with your friends if [00:28:25] you stand against the grain on any [00:28:26] controversial topic but you don't know [00:28:30] what long-term impact your courage has [00:28:33] in standing for what you know to be good [00:28:35] and right and true [00:28:37] one thing someone told me once and i [00:28:39] just think it's so true [00:28:41] is that courage begets courage [00:28:43] when you see someone standing up for [00:28:45] something that you know it's it's hard [00:28:47] for them to stand up maybe you see [00:28:49] someone being bullied on social media [00:28:51] because they took a stand that was [00:28:52] pro-life or whatever it is [00:28:55] rather than us saying oh i'm really glad [00:28:57] that's not me [00:28:59] that looks really uncomfortable that [00:29:00] that person is catching heat that that [00:29:02] person is getting backlash rather than [00:29:05] just us just sitting by and saying oh [00:29:07] i'm glad that i didn't do something like [00:29:09] that i'm glad i got i'm glad i'm not [00:29:11] getting that kind of backlash what we [00:29:13] can do instead is we can allow that [00:29:15] courage to be contagious [00:29:17] and we can do another thing that i like [00:29:19] to say is share arrows [00:29:22] we share the arrows with people who are [00:29:24] taking them because of their unpopular [00:29:27] but good and moral and right and [00:29:30] conservative stand [00:29:31] we say instead of i am glad that that's [00:29:35] not me instead of that we stand up and [00:29:38] we say [00:29:39] yeah i believe that too [00:29:41] that's me you see someone taking flock [00:29:43] for something that you believe too [00:29:45] rather than hiding away and hoping that [00:29:48] the mob doesn't cancel you be willing to [00:29:50] take the hit [00:29:51] be willing to take the cancellation be [00:29:54] willing to show courage because you [00:29:55] never know the long-term impact [00:29:58] that that courage might have [00:30:00] another thing that i want us to remember [00:30:03] and this is another alliteration that i [00:30:06] like to say [00:30:09] it's so easy for us especially i think [00:30:11] you guys as young people to be apathetic [00:30:15] because a lot of people are telling you [00:30:18] that politics and culture wars and all [00:30:20] those things really don't matter [00:30:22] but here's what i like to say this is [00:30:24] what i like to remind people of [00:30:27] because when people tell you that you're [00:30:28] being divisive or that you shouldn't [00:30:30] talk about that that it's too much to be [00:30:32] political i like to remind people that [00:30:35] politics matter because policy matters [00:30:37] because people matter [00:30:39] so actually when you are speaking up for [00:30:41] these policy issues that maybe your [00:30:43] friends are saying are too controversial [00:30:45] you don't want to wade in those waters [00:30:46] because it's just too much you don't [00:30:48] want to get someone mad at you remember [00:30:50] that it's really not political issues [00:30:52] that we're talking about especially when [00:30:54] we're talking about something like [00:30:55] abortion people say that that's a hot [00:30:58] topic that that's controversial it's [00:31:00] literally a matter of life and death [00:31:02] like it's it's not actually essentially [00:31:04] a political issue [00:31:06] it's fundamentally a theological issue [00:31:09] it's a moral issue it's become political [00:31:12] it's become a culture war issue but it's [00:31:14] a cause that is a matter of life and [00:31:16] death [00:31:17] so when people tell you that you are [00:31:19] being too divisive or you're being too [00:31:21] loud you're speaking too much about [00:31:24] these policies that really matter [00:31:26] remember that politics matter because [00:31:28] policy matters politics affects policy [00:31:30] the things we say are public dialogue [00:31:33] even things that are said on twitter [00:31:35] that affects public policy that is [00:31:37] written by our representatives [00:31:39] and policy matters because policy [00:31:41] affects people policy affects people [00:31:44] these so-called culture war issues [00:31:46] for example maybe one of the most [00:31:48] controversial things that you can do [00:31:51] the [00:31:52] thing that will get you kicked off [00:31:53] social media is saying that a man is a [00:31:55] man refusing to call a man who calls [00:31:57] himself a woman she or her one of the [00:31:59] most controversial things that you can [00:32:01] do but look that matters that actually [00:32:03] matters because if you are giving into [00:32:05] the premise that a woman that a man can [00:32:08] be a woman by calling him she her then [00:32:11] what you are doing is enabling the [00:32:13] policy that then victimizes the women [00:32:16] who are forced to compete again against [00:32:18] and share private spaces with men [00:32:21] so what we say actually matters [00:32:23] our public dialogue matters [00:32:26] our language matters [00:32:27] the truth we tell or the lies that we [00:32:30] tell because we want to fit in or [00:32:31] because we're scared that actually [00:32:32] matters [00:32:33] because it affects policy and fault and [00:32:36] policy affects people [00:32:38] and the last thing that i want to say [00:32:40] well last couple things that i want to [00:32:43] say before we get into some questions [00:32:45] and really it goes off of what i just [00:32:47] said and this is something that i've had [00:32:49] to remind myself of a lot [00:32:52] you'll remember the very contentious [00:32:53] summer of 2020 after the george floyd [00:32:56] incident if you [00:32:58] are a woman on instagram like you [00:33:00] remember there was a lot of i would say [00:33:03] bullying um happening on social media [00:33:06] particularly on white one instagram [00:33:08] which is like a terrible terrible place [00:33:10] to be um a progressive white woman [00:33:13] instagram is really like the worst place [00:33:15] on earth but there is a lot of virtue [00:33:18] bullying that goes on there there is a [00:33:20] lot of you are not a good person if you [00:33:23] don't support this cause or you don't [00:33:25] post this black square you don't say [00:33:27] this or you don't do the work or you [00:33:28] don't read this book whatever it is so [00:33:30] it's a lot of virtue bullying and a lot [00:33:32] of virtue signaling it's a lot of [00:33:34] superficial caddiness it's like middle [00:33:36] school cattiness that just morphed [00:33:38] itself into some kind of convoluted [00:33:40] version of social justice on instagram [00:33:42] it's terrible and i had to tell myself [00:33:45] from the very beginning when i saw some [00:33:46] people that i know [00:33:48] repeat propaganda christians i'm a [00:33:51] christian when i saw my fellow [00:33:52] christians say things about racism in [00:33:56] america that i just knew was not true [00:33:58] things that i knew were not factual [00:34:00] about policing in america the thing that [00:34:02] i had to tell myself what i wanted to [00:34:03] give in when i didn't want to be [00:34:05] divisive when i didn't want to rock the [00:34:06] boat when i didn't want to get into [00:34:08] uncomfortable conversations with people [00:34:10] i had to tell myself over and over again [00:34:12] live not by lies [00:34:14] if there's anything that you can do in [00:34:16] this life that seems like it's totally [00:34:18] characterized by insanity if you feel [00:34:21] like you can't take a standard there's [00:34:22] nothing that you can actually physically [00:34:24] do you're not starting an organization [00:34:26] you're not even posting on social media [00:34:27] whatever it is [00:34:29] just choose not to lie [00:34:31] don't lie with your words don't lie with [00:34:33] your actions seek truth in everything [00:34:36] that you do be a critical thinker be a [00:34:38] problem solver read that's something [00:34:40] that a lot of people in your generation [00:34:42] don't do try to seek the truth and [00:34:44] commit to [00:34:46] living not by lies that's a book i [00:34:48] didn't come up with that phrase it's [00:34:50] actually a phrase from [00:34:53] um alexander sultan hudson but [00:34:56] live not by lies [00:34:58] the second thing that i would say [00:35:00] is to raise a respectful ruckus about [00:35:03] the things that matter [00:35:05] uh we talked about all those those three [00:35:07] ways that had such a big um that are [00:35:10] having such a big impact on our society [00:35:12] today that really started small that [00:35:14] started with people exercising their [00:35:16] free speech in an unpopular and [00:35:18] controversial way you choose the things [00:35:21] that you care about choose the hills [00:35:24] that you want to die on and raise a [00:35:26] respectful ruckus about the things that [00:35:28] matter that doesn't mean that you're [00:35:30] going to care about everything you don't [00:35:32] have the capacity by the way to care [00:35:34] about everything you also don't have the [00:35:36] calling to care about everything we are [00:35:38] human beings you don't have to know [00:35:39] everything about every new story you [00:35:41] don't have to care about every issue i [00:35:44] know that the news makes you feel like [00:35:45] you do like you have to have equal [00:35:47] compassion and equal anger and equal [00:35:49] sadness and equal angst and equal joy [00:35:52] about every single headline and news [00:35:53] story that you hear but you can't [00:35:56] because we're all human beings and we [00:35:57] have a limited capacity we're finite so [00:36:00] choose the causes that you care about [00:36:02] is it abortion [00:36:04] like do you do you want to fight for is [00:36:06] that the hill that you want to die on [00:36:08] do you want to fight for the lives of [00:36:09] those vulnerable babies it doesn't have [00:36:11] to be one but it has to be just a few it [00:36:13] has to be a limited number and decide [00:36:16] you know what this is the hill that i'm [00:36:17] going to die on you're not going to be [00:36:18] able to die on every hill you can [00:36:20] applaud and help and support and [00:36:22] organize with other people who are [00:36:24] fighting for other causes but you can't [00:36:26] fight for everyone but pick a few and [00:36:28] decide that you are going to do [00:36:29] everything that you can you're going to [00:36:31] find like-minded people you're going to [00:36:33] organize with them you are going to go [00:36:35] to the school board you're going to talk [00:36:36] to your administrators you are going to [00:36:39] whatever it is [00:36:41] you are going to raise a respectful [00:36:42] ruckus for the things that matter pick [00:36:44] those things be committed to them be [00:36:47] strategic and be passionate about [00:36:49] pushing for all that you know is good [00:36:52] and right and true in whatever areas [00:36:54] whatever arenas whatever spheres that [00:36:56] god has called you in [00:36:58] if there's one [00:37:00] issue i think that we see so much [00:37:02] especially in generation z [00:37:04] i saw this [00:37:06] article by the new york times [00:37:08] uh the other day talking about the [00:37:09] mental health of young people and you [00:37:11] guys have probably heard this so much [00:37:13] just how mental health is really at an [00:37:15] all-time low for young people the rates [00:37:18] of suicide and feelings of loneliness [00:37:20] and feelings of depression and anxiety [00:37:22] and in some ways it's like who can blame [00:37:24] you the last two years have been awful [00:37:26] and then their social media but gosh i [00:37:28] think it's so much deeper than that [00:37:30] i mean there are so many things that we [00:37:31] could talk about how modern psychology [00:37:33] is just bunk that it really just [00:37:35] encourages you to think about yourself [00:37:37] more [00:37:38] there's so much involved in that today [00:37:41] but i think one of the things that i see [00:37:42] most in young people is just this [00:37:44] feeling of purposelessness this feeling [00:37:47] that you are the biggest thing in your [00:37:48] life that the most important thing that [00:37:51] you can do like your journey is really [00:37:53] just about loving yourself [00:37:55] and knowing yourself and if that is your [00:37:57] goal in life if your goal in life is [00:37:59] just to love yourself more and discover [00:38:01] yourself you are going to be miserable i [00:38:03] promise you're not that great i'm not [00:38:06] that great we're not that special on the [00:38:08] one hand we're worth a whole lot because [00:38:10] we're all made by god and we're made of [00:38:12] his image and that's wonderful but on [00:38:14] the other hand we're not so special that [00:38:16] we need to be so consumed with ourselves [00:38:18] that self-love is going to heal us of [00:38:21] all of our problems self-fulfillment is [00:38:23] going to put us on this track of of [00:38:25] satisfaction it's not [00:38:27] it's not you've got to commit to things [00:38:29] that are bigger than you of course i [00:38:31] believe as a christian that that is [00:38:33] knowing the god who created you that [00:38:35] only he can tell you who you are and [00:38:36] what you're worth [00:38:38] and why you're here what your purpose is [00:38:41] but in addition to that you've got to [00:38:43] link yourself to causes that are bigger [00:38:44] than yourself you've got to have a value [00:38:46] system that is bigger than you it can't [00:38:48] be all about you the more you can make [00:38:50] your life less about yourself and more [00:38:53] about making the lives of other people [00:38:55] better whether it's through politics [00:38:57] whether it's through service whether [00:38:58] it's through different acts of kindness [00:39:00] and selflessness whatever it is i [00:39:02] promise you the happier you'll be the [00:39:04] more fulfilling your life will be don't [00:39:06] be like the rest of your generation who [00:39:08] just wants to pretend to be virtuous by [00:39:10] sitting on the couch and tweeting about [00:39:11] how much they love bernie sanders that's [00:39:13] not virtue [00:39:15] that's laziness they're slacktivists [00:39:17] they think that they are being good [00:39:19] people by voting for other people to [00:39:21] take money from people that are richer [00:39:22] than them and give it to people that are [00:39:24] poorer than them that's not virtue [00:39:26] that's laziness [00:39:28] you invest your energy and your time [00:39:31] into the things that matter selflessly [00:39:34] as passionately and as wisely and as [00:39:36] boldly as you can [00:39:39] there are so many myths today that say [00:39:41] that our world is overpopulated that we [00:39:43] need to have fewer children um that [00:39:45] that's going to save the world and that [00:39:47] we're just burdens on society that is [00:39:49] such a dismal view [00:39:51] of human beings and it's just not true [00:39:53] like i believe that everyone in this [00:39:55] room is actually an asset to the future [00:39:57] that you are a credit to the future that [00:40:00] you are adding things to the world of uh [00:40:03] innovation and that you are making the [00:40:05] environment better that you are going to [00:40:07] do something that makes the world better [00:40:09] not worse that you're not taking away [00:40:11] but you're actually adding to [00:40:14] and so see other people like that see [00:40:16] yourself like that see your purpose in [00:40:18] life like that that you are here to add [00:40:20] something to the world not just take it [00:40:22] away that is going to be a defining [00:40:24] factor in your life thank you [00:40:33] all right i think we're taking some [00:40:34] questions [00:40:48] uh [00:40:52] hi um my name is sarah um you said [00:40:55] something about raising a respectful [00:40:57] ruckus [00:40:58] and in the past two years during the [00:40:59] whole covet thing um i've had christians [00:41:02] say things like well as a christian you [00:41:04] shouldn't be divisive or rock the boat [00:41:06] as you said [00:41:08] um do you have any comments about that [00:41:10] and [00:41:10] do you have any advice for christians on [00:41:12] how to [00:41:13] like stand up for what you believe with [00:41:15] love and [00:41:16] raise respectful ruckus as a christian [00:41:19] yes so there are i mean there are [00:41:21] specific ways of course different people [00:41:24] can do this i'm trying to think let me [00:41:26] think of one example [00:41:27] so [00:41:28] again going back to 2020 a lot of [00:41:31] churches responded to [00:41:33] what they thought was kind of a racial [00:41:34] reckoning in our country by introducing [00:41:38] really kind of some unbiblical [00:41:40] anti-biblical theology into the pulpits [00:41:43] and there were people in churches who [00:41:45] thought you know what i don't want our [00:41:47] church to go this direction and so they [00:41:49] decided to do a few things and this is i [00:41:51] think a formula that can work in [00:41:52] corporations it can work in schools it [00:41:54] can work in churches it can work in [00:41:55] communities you first you find [00:41:57] like-minded people it's much easier if [00:41:59] you can find one or two people whatever [00:42:01] issue it is that agree with you or see [00:42:03] eye to eye with you on whatever issue [00:42:05] you come together you talk about it you [00:42:07] say why do we disagree with this thing [00:42:08] that's going on what do you think is our [00:42:10] best argument you read up as much as you [00:42:12] can people that are on your side people [00:42:14] who agree with you about this certain [00:42:16] topic the other side try to become as [00:42:18] well-rounded as you can on whatever [00:42:20] topic this is and try to really practice [00:42:22] and articulate whatever arguments you [00:42:24] have go with those like-minded people to [00:42:27] the people who are in charge whatever [00:42:29] that is school board administrators in [00:42:31] this case it would have been like pastor [00:42:33] and elders and say look we're really [00:42:35] concerned about this you say it [00:42:36] respectfully we respect you we respect [00:42:39] your leadership thank you so much for [00:42:41] taking the time to listen to me here are [00:42:43] here are the three reasons why we think [00:42:45] what's going on here is incorrect and [00:42:47] here's really what we expect and what we [00:42:49] would like to push the church or this [00:42:51] entity and institution toward [00:42:53] and then you really work on trying to [00:42:55] get as many people as possible if that [00:42:58] doesn't work with the leadership if [00:42:59] they're not convinced you try to get as [00:43:01] many people as possible on your side you [00:43:03] reach out to them you have conversations [00:43:05] with them you see how many people you [00:43:07] can kind of rally on to your position [00:43:11] and then you continue to push the [00:43:12] leadership on it you do it in a [00:43:13] respectful way now in some there are [00:43:16] some times when people have to leave [00:43:18] certain entities people have to leave [00:43:19] their church people have to leave a [00:43:21] school and everyone has to make the [00:43:22] decision that is best for them that's [00:43:24] certainly true when it comes to [00:43:25] christians and conservatives in certain [00:43:26] corporations um however i think that [00:43:30] you're obligated while you're there to [00:43:32] try to make the most change that you can [00:43:34] so it's coming together organizing [00:43:36] articulating your thoughts using your [00:43:39] voice and then take that respectful [00:43:41] ruckus to the people who make the [00:43:43] decisions and if they don't agree with [00:43:45] the quality of your argument then you [00:43:47] have to use quantity so you get more [00:43:49] people to rally behind you and make as [00:43:52] much change as you can does that make [00:43:54] sense yeah thank you yeah [00:44:02] hey ali my name is simon thank you so [00:44:04] much for being with us tonight [00:44:06] so my question is that you know the left [00:44:08] and socialists of course they want to [00:44:10] take any reason or justification to [00:44:12] control our lives control destroy the [00:44:14] system of free markets [00:44:16] so [00:44:17] you know what would be the best approach [00:44:20] to say the difference between you know [00:44:22] crony capitalism and free markets [00:44:24] because you know they will see the [00:44:26] scientists texting disney or [00:44:29] you know buying twitter or pretty much [00:44:31] holding facebook and big take [00:44:33] accountable [00:44:34] and they will just you know oh this is [00:44:36] what we want so how can we just set the [00:44:37] difference without [00:44:39] you know encourage them or with or [00:44:41] without facing the threat of socialism [00:44:43] in america [00:44:44] so just to clarify your question is that [00:44:47] are you saying that there may be a [00:44:49] concern that [00:44:50] what maybe someone like elon musk or ron [00:44:52] desantis is doing is setting a bad [00:44:54] precedent for the left to turn around [00:44:55] and do the same thing is that part of [00:44:57] your question [00:44:58] yeah like if the left see those actions [00:45:00] they will say oh they are you know [00:45:03] taxing the greed or like whatever [00:45:04] they're trying to make up and and pretty [00:45:06] much they want to keep pushing for [00:45:08] socialism so what would be or measure to [00:45:10] define crony cronyism and uh capita and [00:45:14] free markets [00:45:15] okay [00:45:16] so one i have heard the concern well [00:45:20] what if the left sees what desantis is [00:45:22] doing and they just do the same thing or [00:45:24] they push just as hard well [00:45:26] the answer to that is the left is going [00:45:28] to push anyway that it doesn't matter [00:45:31] what republicans do i saw someone say on [00:45:33] twitter and this is so [00:45:34] true is that the side that wants to be [00:45:37] left alone will always lose to the side [00:45:39] that wants to win [00:45:41] the side that wants to be left alone [00:45:42] will always lose to the side that wants [00:45:44] to win so i think it's good that [00:45:47] republicans instead of being the party [00:45:49] of which i actually think that [00:45:50] republicans have kind of traditionally [00:45:52] been a party of cronyism and when you [00:45:54] look at the deal the sweetheart deal [00:45:56] that disney had in florida where they [00:45:58] had all these special privileges and tax [00:46:00] breaks that other companies did not have [00:46:03] like that was a form of cronyism all the [00:46:05] way back to i think it was 1957 or 67 [00:46:08] when it first started so i think [00:46:10] desantis evening the playing field and [00:46:12] saying look you're just gonna have to [00:46:13] function like every other business in [00:46:15] disney or in florida does that is free [00:46:18] market capitalism the deal that they had [00:46:19] was actually cronyism from the start i [00:46:22] know that some people are uncomfortable [00:46:23] with his retaliatory actions towards [00:46:26] them because they spoke out against the [00:46:27] bill and so he said okay we're going to [00:46:29] revoke your privileges but as i said [00:46:31] before they were threatening as all [00:46:33] leftist institutions do threatening to [00:46:35] up in the democracy and the democratic [00:46:37] processes in that state by trying to see [00:46:40] that law overturned so [00:46:42] if the people in charge if the [00:46:44] republicans in charge are not the ones [00:46:46] who are going to put a check on these [00:46:48] huge major corporations that are trying [00:46:51] to [00:46:52] inhibit our ability to live freely and [00:46:56] and pass the laws that we want to pass [00:46:58] as constituents then who else is going [00:47:00] to like who has the power to do that and [00:47:04] like we know that when the lack takes [00:47:06] over an institution or corporation [00:47:08] like they are going to push we see that [00:47:11] with amazon we see that with twitter we [00:47:13] did we see that with facebook like we [00:47:16] see that they are going to cut off [00:47:17] narratives that they don't like they are [00:47:18] only going to spread narratives that [00:47:19] they do like that has an effect on [00:47:22] public policy if republicans in power [00:47:24] are not the ones to put a check on that [00:47:26] who is [00:47:27] so the left is going to continue to push [00:49:32] how the transgender movement is taking [00:49:34] away from women specifically how would [00:49:36] you respond to a male [00:49:38] yeah well there's a difference in [00:49:39] liberty and anarchy so even libertarians [00:49:42] which i'm not a libertarian i'm a [00:49:44] conservative but even people who believe [00:49:45] as i do in limited government still [00:49:48] believe there's a role of a government [00:49:50] and at its very [00:49:53] at its most basic a government's [00:49:55] responsibility is to protect the lives [00:49:57] of its innocent citizens and that would [00:49:59] include a baby in the womb so even if [00:50:01] you believe in the most limited [00:50:02] government possible you could still [00:50:04] believe and should still believe that a [00:50:06] government has to protect the right of [00:50:09] innocent people not to be murdered if [00:50:11] you don't have that you literally don't [00:50:13] have anything if you don't have a right [00:50:14] to life you don't have a right to [00:50:16] liberty and happiness which come after [00:50:18] life in the declaration of independence [00:50:20] for a reason so if you don't believe in [00:50:22] the right to life the most basic human [00:50:24] right that there is then that's anarchy [00:50:26] then you believe in living in anarchy [00:50:28] and again being a libertarian is [00:50:29] different than being an anarchist and so [00:50:31] i would probably ask some questions to [00:50:33] that individual what rights do you [00:50:35] believe in protecting and why there are [00:50:37] plenty of rights that i adv that i would [00:50:39] advocate for that may not necessarily [00:50:41] affect me or i don't know if they'll [00:50:43] affect me but i still think it's wrong [00:50:45] abortion doesn't affect me and i guess [00:50:47] that's his argument too but the reason [00:50:50] why i am [00:50:51] advocating for it is because those [00:50:52] people don't have a voice and if you [00:50:54] don't speak up for the people who don't [00:50:55] have a voice no one's going to um as for [00:50:58] the transgender thing it's the same it's [00:51:00] the same thing like if you don't have a [00:51:02] right if like if a woman doesn't have a [00:51:04] right to privacy if she doesn't have a [00:51:06] right to fairness well there really is [00:51:08] no such thing as women's rights if we [00:51:10] don't have sex protected spaces and sex [00:51:12] protected rights the people who are [00:51:14] going to suffer the most are going to be [00:51:16] the most vulnerable physically [00:51:18] vulnerable and that's women because he's [00:51:20] right like no guy is worried about like [00:51:24] ellen page coming into his locker room [00:51:26] for good reason i mean that's not a [00:51:28] physical threat but it's a physical [00:51:30] threat to me if a man comes into my [00:51:32] locker room saying that he's a woman so [00:51:34] all kinds of rights might not affect us [00:51:36] directly but affect other people and [00:51:39] just as people who live in a society [00:51:40] that is shared with other people [00:51:43] um that are shared with other people we [00:51:45] should care about that [00:51:54] hey so uh within right-wing politics we [00:51:56] kind of all know [00:51:58] we're we're against the left and that [00:52:00] tent's growing right [00:52:02] and there's kind of distinctions and [00:52:03] divisions and differences within the [00:52:06] right-wing camp broadly speaking so i [00:52:08] kind of want to know where do you think [00:52:10] we should draw lines where should lines [00:52:13] be drawn in terms of the differences [00:52:14] without compromising but also [00:52:17] being a unified force to fight against a [00:52:19] common enemy yeah i think that's a [00:52:21] really good question and honestly it's [00:52:22] one that i'm still working on because at [00:52:24] the end of the day i am a christian and [00:52:27] that's what i care about most like that [00:52:29] is my identity that means there's going [00:52:31] to be a lot of conservatives whom i love [00:52:33] and respect that i disagree with on like [00:52:36] really fundamental things dave rubin a [00:52:39] wonderful person who i respect who we [00:52:41] can link arms together in a lot of [00:52:43] things at the end of the day or anyone [00:52:45] like ben shapiro who i love so much like [00:52:47] we have a different world view because [00:52:48] we have a different foundation and so i [00:52:51] don't think that we can tribalize so [00:52:53] much to where i could never link arms [00:52:55] with people who disagree with me on [00:52:57] those worldview issues when it comes to [00:52:59] other things like when it comes to [00:53:00] fighting against mandates or fighting [00:53:02] for free speech or something or fighting [00:53:04] against like grooming children but i [00:53:06] think it's a matter of [00:53:08] what the republican party needs to do if [00:53:10] there really has to be a reckoning of [00:53:12] trying to decide like what are we what [00:53:15] are we are we just is conservatism just [00:53:18] anti-woke is that all it is [00:53:20] or is conservatism actually conserving [00:53:22] something are we just like 10 miles [00:53:25] behind progressivism or do we actually [00:53:27] care about the definition of the family [00:53:29] do we actually care about human nature [00:53:32] and who human beings are and like the [00:53:34] definition of marriage all these things [00:53:35] that built western civilization and gave [00:53:37] us all of the freedoms of western [00:53:39] civilization do we still care about [00:53:41] those things or are we just like [00:53:43] anti-work capitalists personally i don't [00:53:46] think that's going to last so do i think [00:53:48] that we can invite people in who [00:53:49] disagree with us on things yes as long [00:53:51] as we are able to agree on what we [00:53:54] really are who we really are as [00:53:56] conservatives and what we're going for [00:53:59] um i don't think we fully agree on that [00:54:01] right now but i do think it's an [00:54:02] interesting moment for us to be like [00:54:04] having the debates within conservatism [00:54:06] to really try to define ourselves and [00:54:09] define our movements so [00:54:11] we'll see i feel like it's kind of [00:54:13] piecing together and i think over the [00:54:14] next few years and the next election is [00:54:16] really going to tell us a lot [00:54:24] hello so [00:54:25] something that i have noticed since [00:54:28] getting more involved in politics as [00:54:30] christian and being in college [00:54:32] is um [00:54:34] i think it happens on both sides but [00:54:36] more on the right recently is that the [00:54:38] role of politics often replaces the role [00:54:41] of faith in people's lives [00:54:44] and [00:54:45] um like i have some friend who i notice [00:54:47] this in [00:54:49] um so as a christian [00:54:51] how can we get [00:54:53] people to focus on their faith maybe as [00:54:56] much as they do on their politics when [00:55:00] because reality is that's not gonna last [00:55:02] when that's their foundation and that's [00:55:04] you know not the truth and what [00:55:06] ultimately matters and why we're doing [00:55:08] this at the end of the day yeah yeah [00:55:10] that's a great question um well i've [00:55:12] seen it so i've seen two things happen [00:55:15] one i've seen when people like when [00:55:17] people come to faith their politics [00:55:19] change and they tend to just get more [00:55:21] conservative they just do but also i've [00:55:23] seen people that become more [00:55:25] conservative politically who try to [00:55:26] understand okay where does conservatism [00:55:28] come from who is this god that gave us [00:55:30] these inherent rights and i've seen [00:55:32] people kind of come to faith through [00:55:34] that and so i think it's possible [00:55:36] certainly for those work things to work [00:55:38] together for someone to be interested in [00:55:40] politics and then be interested in like [00:55:41] the worldview implications of that and [00:55:43] the foundation of it but you're [00:55:45] absolutely right that we can't idolize [00:55:47] politics or politicians we can't [00:55:50] deify the people that we elect as if [00:55:52] they're going to save us so i don't know [00:55:54] necessarily how we can convince people [00:55:58] to [00:55:59] to not idolize not idolize politics [00:56:02] besides just sharing and living out the [00:56:04] gospel ourselves to make sure that we [00:56:06] are kingdom minded that that doesn't [00:56:08] mean that you're not going to be [00:56:09] partisan in some ways but [00:56:11] in keeping their perspective in your own [00:56:13] mind and then the conversations that you [00:56:14] have that at the end of the day like [00:56:16] there is one ruler there is one outcome [00:56:19] of all of this in the meantime the [00:56:21] things we do absolutely matter but [00:56:23] remembering your why like why did [00:56:25] politics matter why what is really [00:56:28] motivating you as an eternity or is just [00:56:30] winning the next election um so it's [00:56:32] making sure that you are living that out [00:56:34] in your own life and having the [00:56:35] conversations that you can in your own [00:56:36] life about that just doing everything [00:56:38] that you can to cultivate this fear that [00:56:40] god's put you in [00:56:42] thank you [00:56:48] hi i'm sophia and i just had a question [00:56:50] about the midterms coming up what are [00:56:51] some things that you feel like that we [00:56:53] should be aware of or should be looking [00:56:55] out for [00:56:59] um well there's definitely going to be [00:57:01] some sort of like [00:57:03] big thing i'm sure that happens this [00:57:05] summer or fall [00:57:06] that democrats will try to use in their [00:57:08] favor obviously joe biden's [00:57:11] approval ratings are really low they're [00:57:13] in the low 40s high 30s which is not [00:57:16] good and so they're going to be trying [00:57:17] to do everything they can they're either [00:57:19] going to have some kind of catastrophe [00:57:21] or crisis that's going to pull on [00:57:24] everyone's empathy strings that tells [00:57:25] them if you don't vote democrat that our [00:57:27] democracy is over racism and white [00:57:29] supremacy are going to run rampant or [00:57:31] whatever it is they did that with [00:57:32] kavanaugh in 2018 that actually [00:57:34] backfired and then of course in 2020 [00:57:37] all of the [00:57:38] like racial explosion conversations that [00:57:41] we were having they really tried to play [00:57:43] into their favor so we can expect they [00:57:46] always will play on the feelings they [00:57:47] will always pull the heartstrings there [00:57:49] will be something that happens or they [00:57:52] will take a different approach and [00:57:53] they'll try to make us forget [00:57:55] the [00:57:56] absolutely hellacious nightmare of covid [00:57:58] restrictions and they'll just kind of [00:57:59] let us ease into the slumber of normalcy [00:58:02] and think oh yeah joe biden is doing [00:58:04] great so they might try to mitigate any [00:58:06] kind of like turbulence that his [00:58:08] presidency is causing [00:58:10] that's going to be difficult to do [00:58:12] because they can't fully control [00:58:13] inflation they can't go back on all the [00:58:15] policies that they enacted um and [00:58:19] whatever happens foreign policy-wise is [00:58:21] going to happen so that's going to be [00:58:22] difficult for them so we just have to [00:58:24] stay on guard as we always do we fact [00:58:27] check every narrative that we see if [00:58:29] something sounds [00:58:31] fishy then we should look into it and [00:58:33] then we amplify the fact check of the [00:58:36] narratives um that's one thing that we [00:58:38] can do and obviously the conversations [00:58:40] that we have with our friends and all [00:58:41] that um [00:58:43] yeah just be ready just be ready [00:58:44] there'll be a lot of deception a lot of [00:58:46] propaganda a lot of policing of [00:58:49] misinformation over the next few months [00:58:52] and we just have to do everything that [00:58:53] we can to double down on the truth [00:59:02] hi [00:59:02] so my question was you talked about [00:59:05] having these hills to die on and these [00:59:07] really important issues i was wondering [00:59:10] was there a moment or like an issue [00:59:12] for you that made you say i have to [00:59:14] stand up i have to do something [00:59:16] yeah i think that they can change in [00:59:18] your in different stages of life like [00:59:20] i'm a mom of two little ones and so i'm [00:59:22] especially sensitive towards the kinds [00:59:24] of things that are being told to them [00:59:27] and how they're being educated in the [00:59:29] different forms of media [00:59:31] and also just the messages that they're [00:59:33] hearing about like who human beings are [00:59:35] and gender and all of that [00:59:37] that became a big one for me [00:59:40] more after becoming a mom probably but [00:59:42] then abortion abortion probably too [00:59:46] because pregnancy gosh it just changes [00:59:48] so much of how you think about life [00:59:50] inside the womb um but i would say those [00:59:52] are like the two things that i just [00:59:55] think [00:59:56] human rights fundamental human rights [00:59:58] rest on where our country goes on those [01:00:01] two issues so it wasn't really like a [01:00:03] moment as much as it's just kind of my [01:00:06] thought process has changed and [01:00:08] strengthened over time and i've seen the [01:00:11] adversary on the other side and what [01:00:13] that looks like and i think i can see [01:00:14] pretty well where it will go if they'll [01:00:16] if they get their way so it's just kind [01:00:19] of i don't know um it's just those are [01:00:21] the two things that i think like stir [01:00:23] the most fire in my heart at least at [01:00:26] least as far as like culture and [01:00:27] political issues go so i think it [01:00:29] doesn't necessarily have to be like this [01:00:31] one feeling of oh my gosh this is it it [01:00:34] can also be like a very analytical [01:00:36] assessment [01:00:37] okay where has god placed me what's the [01:00:39] issue that's before me [01:00:41] um what am i good at what are some of my [01:00:43] strengths what makes me feel like i'm [01:00:45] really using my talent in a way that is [01:00:47] fulfilling and glorifies god what [01:00:49] opportunity is in front of me really the [01:00:51] only thing that you can do is take the [01:00:53] next right step in faith and [01:00:56] things i mean your hills that you'll die [01:00:58] on will change over time and that's okay [01:01:00] you don't have to pick one and stick [01:01:02] with it forever [01:01:04] [Applause] [01:01:09] hi um i am no student i'm actually a mom [01:01:12] in the same age range as you um but i [01:01:15] wanted to thank you for speaking to [01:01:17] these students about relevant issues for [01:01:19] them [01:01:20] um you spoke a little bit on the white [01:01:22] woman's instagram thing yeah um [01:01:26] so in the last few years i've had some [01:01:28] conversations with [01:01:29] leftist friends of mine um one of them [01:01:33] was a christian [01:01:34] and [01:01:36] the conversations have been very [01:01:37] difficult because they are [01:01:40] certain that they are racist because [01:01:43] they're white yeah and um trying to [01:01:46] convince me that i am also racist and [01:01:48] being very adamant that i am definitely [01:01:51] not and i don't think i've ever shown [01:01:53] them any ways in which i am a racist [01:01:56] um [01:01:56] [Music] [01:01:58] but [01:01:58] the way this world is right now and what [01:02:01] these students are being taught in [01:02:02] school [01:02:04] um [01:02:05] i it seems very bleak to me and i'm [01:02:07] interested to hear [01:02:09] one how you respond to friends or um [01:02:12] critics like this and to what you see [01:02:16] may be happening in the next few years [01:02:17] in this in that arena yeah [01:02:20] um i had a couple friends like that [01:02:22] certainly in 2020 that were posting [01:02:23] things about the 1619 project and [01:02:25] posting memes about bible verses that [01:02:28] didn't mean what they said that they [01:02:30] meant and in some cases i would reach [01:02:32] out and i would just give my perspective [01:02:34] and i'd say here's why i think that this [01:02:35] is wrong and we would have it back and [01:02:37] forth and then it would just end with [01:02:38] okay agree to disagree now since that [01:02:41] time those friends have abandoned a lot [01:02:43] of the views [01:02:45] that they did then it just kind of was a [01:02:47] heat of the moment emotional kind of [01:02:49] reaction to what was going on so you do [01:02:51] kind of have to give space and patience [01:02:53] um i think the greatest tactic that [01:02:55] anyone can employ when you're having [01:02:57] those kind of difficult conversations [01:02:58] with friends is asking questions you [01:03:00] don't have to have an answer to [01:03:02] everything they say to every accusation [01:03:04] you ask what do you mean by this what do [01:03:07] you mean what do you mean by racist okay [01:03:10] well let them give you that definition [01:03:11] because obviously they mean something [01:03:13] other than overt racist actions they [01:03:15] mean underlying prejudices underlying [01:03:18] biases that apparently you can't control [01:03:20] and so then you ask well where did you [01:03:22] get that definition and you could say [01:03:24] well my definition is this where did you [01:03:25] get your definition oh what gives the [01:03:28] the person that authority to define what [01:03:29] racism is where did you read that and so [01:03:32] you just keep digging and digging and [01:03:33] digging you have to be able to define [01:03:35] your terms and be on the same playing [01:03:36] field with the definitions of the words [01:03:38] that you're using or else you'll keep [01:03:40] talking over each other and it also [01:03:42] gives you a beat to be like you know [01:03:43] what i don't know the answer to that [01:03:44] question or that accusation [01:03:46] you don't have to know you can just keep [01:03:48] asking and really get them to think it [01:03:50] really works with abortion too just [01:03:53] asking over and over again what they [01:03:54] mean why they think that where they came [01:03:56] to that conclusion well what do they [01:03:57] think about this um and then you can [01:04:00] offer like in humility you can say hey [01:04:02] like would you listen to this podcast [01:04:04] this kind of reflects my perspective on [01:04:06] it i i'd be happy to listen to something [01:04:08] that reflects your perspective and maybe [01:04:10] we can swap and come back and have a [01:04:12] conversation so i think coming at it [01:04:14] from a place of curiosity even if you [01:04:16] already know your position um it can [01:04:18] make them really think about it and [01:04:20] maybe their minds won't change right [01:04:21] then but they really could change down [01:04:23] the line so that's the advice i would [01:04:25] give you [01:04:31] hi my name is jaden [01:04:33] some teachers have been teaching gender [01:04:35] identity and sexual orientation to kids [01:04:37] at such a young age and they're so [01:04:39] easily influenced [01:04:41] why are teachers teaching these ideas [01:04:43] and how can we prevent this in our [01:04:45] education system [01:04:47] also are educators getting into [01:04:48] education and teaching for the wrong [01:04:50] reasons [01:04:51] good questions i'm sure that there are [01:04:53] different reasons why teachers teach the [01:04:55] things that they do i'm sure that there [01:04:57] is a group of people a group of teachers [01:04:59] who just think that they are teaching [01:05:00] empathy and inclusion and tolerance [01:05:02] that's what they've been told they think [01:05:04] that they're just showing kids a wide [01:05:05] array of people to help them be more [01:05:07] accepting the reality is the power of [01:05:09] suggestion is really strong it's strong [01:05:11] for any of us have you ever like just [01:05:14] been walking around and someone comes up [01:05:15] to you and it's like oh you don't look [01:05:17] like you're feeling too well you're like [01:05:18] actually i feel great but now i feel [01:05:20] sick because someone suggested to you [01:05:23] and like put something in your head that [01:05:24] you aren't feeling well it really [01:05:25] changes how you think and that's us as [01:05:28] adults like we as adults are still [01:05:30] reasoning through this whole gender [01:05:31] identity madness think about a child [01:05:33] you're so impressionable your mind is [01:05:36] literally created to be malleable and to [01:05:37] be influenced and to be taught you have [01:05:39] an adult in authority who gets to tell [01:05:42] you what to do who is telling you that [01:05:44] you might be in the wrong body that like [01:05:46] you can be a different gender or they [01:05:49] were born in the wrong body they can be [01:05:50] a different gender whatever it is um [01:05:53] that's kids are very impressionable and [01:05:56] it can really confuse them and that's [01:05:58] again just being a mom and seeing like [01:05:59] my toddler figure out and observe the [01:06:02] differences between men and women and [01:06:03] she's still figuring out pronouns the [01:06:05] thought of intentionally confusing her [01:06:08] and being like oh i know that you just [01:06:10] figured out that like woman is she but [01:06:12] actually that's not always the case that [01:06:14] is so cruel to me like that is so [01:06:16] torturous to me and the greatest gift [01:06:19] that we can give young people is clarity [01:06:21] and truth and i think a lot of people [01:06:23] just [01:06:24] interlace confusion in their curriculum [01:06:26] because they think that they're doing [01:06:27] the right thing of course i think [01:06:29] there's another group of teachers who [01:06:30] are just true ideologues they really [01:06:32] want activists in the classroom it makes [01:06:35] them feel more normal if they can think [01:06:37] that they are disciplining a generation [01:06:38] of young people to be as confused and [01:06:40] self-loathing as they are misery loves [01:06:42] company and so i think that that is also [01:06:45] part of it um and then of course i think [01:06:47] that there are nefarious people there [01:06:49] are nefarious people who [01:06:51] like as disturbing as it is [01:06:54] if you read like psychology today a few [01:06:56] years ago had like the warning signs of [01:06:59] a child predator of a true groomer and [01:07:01] one of them was talking to young [01:07:03] children about sex and talking to them [01:07:05] about sexuality getting them thinking [01:07:06] about that kind of thing that is a [01:07:08] warning sign so is telling a child that [01:07:11] you're going to share a secret with them [01:07:13] that you're not going to tell their [01:07:14] parents so if a child says hey i'm sally [01:07:16] but i think i want to be jack i'm going [01:07:18] to go by he him and the teacher says [01:07:21] okay this will be our little secret red [01:07:23] flag grooming behavior absolutely i mean [01:07:26] i think libs of tick tock has shown us [01:07:28] that there are those kinds of nefarious [01:07:31] people that just want to talk to kids [01:07:33] about sex and it's sick so to be fair [01:07:36] there are different groups of people now [01:07:38] for your other question [01:07:40] do i think that teachers get into the [01:07:43] job for the wrong reason [01:07:44] yes this is true of any helping [01:07:46] profession i've realized that [01:07:49] like nurses teachers and counselors have [01:07:52] both the best people in the world in [01:07:53] those professions and the worst people [01:07:55] in the world in those professions [01:07:56] because you have people who are truly [01:07:58] equipped to help people and then you [01:08:00] have people who really need help and [01:08:02] they get into those professions because [01:08:03] they're attracted to that and actually [01:08:05] they are unstable and need the help that [01:08:08] they are seeking to give other people i [01:08:10] think that that is like one problem with [01:08:12] our whole therapy industry today but [01:08:14] it's also a big problem with education [01:08:16] you got unstable actually child-like [01:08:19] people who are getting into that role [01:08:21] and they're just [01:08:22] um [01:08:23] influencing other people with the same [01:08:25] misery and confusion that they feel so i [01:08:27] hope that answers your question [01:08:31] [Applause] [01:08:33] [Music] [01:08:34] hi i'm melissa i'm wondering what [01:08:36] long-term effect do you think the masks [01:08:38] will have on school children today they [01:08:40] want to hide their faces all the time [01:08:42] and i think a lot of them are just [01:08:44] insecure with themselves yes i think so [01:08:46] too i think for young kids it really [01:08:48] breaks my heart because i know that [01:08:50] there's going to be a lot of speech [01:08:51] delays especially like [01:08:54] babies too who go to day care and all [01:08:56] the caretakers were wearing masks i mean [01:08:58] that is something that we're told like [01:09:00] as as parents as as teachers you're told [01:09:03] the importance of kids being able to see [01:09:05] you smile being able to like see how [01:09:07] your mouth is moving to articulate [01:09:09] certain words you take that out of a [01:09:12] young person's experience they i don't [01:09:14] know if they're ever going to catch up [01:09:15] speech-wise honestly i i really don't [01:09:18] especially compared to their peers who [01:09:19] had a normal childhood and that just [01:09:22] breaks my heart especially when there [01:09:24] was no data ever whatsoever that proved [01:09:27] that that was stopping the spread at all [01:09:29] um and so that's really sad now for [01:09:31] older kids i have also seen that they [01:09:34] are the ones that are like most reticent [01:09:37] to take their masks off i have seen you [01:09:40] know like 13 14 years old to like 17 it [01:09:43] seems like they are some of the people [01:09:45] that are the most scared i think it's [01:09:47] probably because they're online they're [01:09:48] on tick tock they're on social media [01:09:50] they are also very susceptible to group [01:09:52] think and propaganda all of us are when [01:09:55] we're that age our frontal lobe hasn't [01:09:56] developed and of course if adults and [01:09:59] influencers in your life told you for [01:10:02] two years you're gonna die and you're [01:10:03] gonna kill your grandma that's hard to [01:10:05] let go of it's absolutely evil what we [01:10:08] did to young people in the way of [01:10:10] indoctrination in the way of [01:10:11] fear-mongering you don't order society [01:10:14] by sacrificing young for the old you [01:10:16] just don't like i love elderly people i [01:10:19] love vulnerable people i don't want to [01:10:20] intentionally sacrifice them but we [01:10:23] order society by taking care of the [01:10:25] future generations that are going to [01:10:27] replace us first and we absolutely [01:10:29] failed at that it was a terrible social [01:10:31] experiment um and gosh i just hope that [01:10:34] parents who have woken up that they do [01:10:36] everything they can to [01:10:38] reintroduce their children to normalcy [01:10:41] insanity and stability it's literally [01:10:43] our only hope [01:10:45] thank you [01:10:51] hello um i'm christian thank you so much [01:10:53] for being here tonight um we really [01:10:55] appreciate it thank you and so my [01:10:57] question is um if i'm not very [01:10:59] confrontational how can i make a big [01:11:01] difference without being loud and out [01:11:03] there yeah you do not have to be [01:11:05] confrontational or loud and out there to [01:11:07] make a difference um [01:11:09] i know that we talk a lot about using [01:11:11] your voice on social media and things [01:11:13] like that which is something you can do [01:11:15] but not everyone is called to that like [01:11:17] any movement any institution needs all [01:11:20] different kinds of people actually like [01:11:21] as a christian we talk about the church [01:11:23] being the body of christ there are [01:11:25] different members of the body of christ [01:11:26] that have different functions and really [01:11:28] so it is in any body or entity you need [01:11:32] people with different skills you need [01:11:34] people who are good at organization you [01:11:35] need good at people who are good at [01:11:37] motivation you need people who are good [01:11:39] at casting a vision you need people who [01:11:41] are good at execution um and so you [01:11:44] need to examine like what are you good [01:11:46] at what do you enjoy doing it doesn't [01:11:48] have to be in front of a camera gosh he [01:11:50] doesn't have to be on a stage doesn't [01:11:51] have to be speaking at all like are you [01:11:53] technically proficient what can you do [01:11:56] to help you know a pro-life group on [01:11:59] campus or whatever it is um and i think [01:12:02] the most important thing for all of us [01:12:03] is living with integrity and living not [01:12:05] by lies ourselves and making sure we're [01:12:08] just taking the next [01:12:09] right step but certainly you do not have [01:12:12] to be an influencer to have influence [01:12:14] that is [01:12:15] if you hear anything i say today you do [01:12:17] not have to be an influencer to have [01:12:19] influence there are a million different [01:12:20] ways that god has gifted you that can be [01:12:22] effective to help the world around you [01:12:24] so just find those and cultivate those [01:12:27] and don't feel pressured to do something [01:12:29] that you're not called to do [01:12:33] [Applause] [01:12:35] hi also thank you so much for being here [01:12:37] tonight um i ended up getting pulled out [01:12:39] of public school my sophomore year [01:12:41] because the way the education system the [01:12:43] public school education system was [01:12:45] failing kids [01:12:47] but when it comes to kids and education [01:12:48] system we see that our school system is [01:12:50] not really teaching our kids [01:12:52] and or they're just indoctrinating them [01:12:55] do you think that conservative parents [01:12:57] pulling out their kids is a part of the [01:12:58] problem rather than keeping [01:13:00] conservatives in school and ultimately [01:13:03] it is up to the parents but what is your [01:13:05] advice to parents nowadays like trying [01:13:07] to decide whether they should keep their [01:13:09] kids inside the public school system or [01:13:11] if they should private school them or [01:13:12] homeschool them [01:13:14] okay this is my opinion there are a lot [01:13:16] of people who disagree with this that i [01:13:18] you know in good faith disagreements and [01:13:21] it's fine [01:13:22] my opinion is that parents should pull [01:13:24] their kids out of public school [01:13:27] um [01:13:29] and you can still be involved you're a [01:13:32] taxpayer and so you get to go to the [01:13:34] local school board if you want to say [01:13:36] over what's being read in schools like [01:13:38] you should have a say because those kids [01:13:41] are a part of your community and a part [01:13:42] of your society so it's still an [01:13:44] investment that you should make but your [01:13:46] kids don't have to be reading it like [01:13:48] your kids don't have to be on the front [01:13:50] lines i hear this argument a lot from [01:13:52] christians that we need our kids to be [01:13:53] like evangelists in these schools and i [01:13:56] just think that is such a burden to put [01:13:58] on young people like when they're not [01:13:59] even like you're not even big enough to [01:14:02] carry like your proverbial sword yet [01:14:04] like we need to train young people with [01:14:08] the best equipment and the best tools [01:14:10] and the best education that we possibly [01:14:12] can there's going to be a time [01:14:14] for [01:14:16] influence in the world like the world is [01:14:18] not getting any more moral or any more [01:14:20] sane and so why don't we equip kids as [01:14:22] best as we can with the best education [01:14:24] possible and then when they're ready [01:14:27] to go out they can [01:14:29] they can face the challenges but in [01:14:31] their back pocket they've got all the [01:14:33] tools that were afforded to them by the [01:14:34] best education that they could possibly [01:14:36] get they're well read they're critical [01:14:38] thinkers they're good writers they're [01:14:40] not just sitting there learning about [01:14:42] sel all day but they actually know math [01:14:44] they know science they they have the [01:14:46] tools to be excellent workers and to be [01:14:48] good employees and to be [01:14:50] active and productive citizens and i'm [01:14:52] not speaking for every public school but [01:14:54] a lot of public schools just aren't [01:14:55] giving that to kids to me it's not i [01:14:58] don't want to put my kids on the altar i [01:15:00] guess if other people want to sacrifice [01:15:02] their kids in the name of that they [01:15:03] can't i don't want my kids though to be [01:15:06] sacrificed in that way so i encourage [01:15:08] other people hey if you can get out of [01:15:10] public schools if you can homeschool if [01:15:12] you can get your kid a really good like [01:15:14] christian education then do that your [01:15:17] responsibility is to your children [01:15:19] you're stewarding their hearts and minds [01:15:21] not everyone else's kid [01:15:23] so that is my encouragement and my [01:15:25] advice to parents [01:15:30] okay that's it thank you guys so much [01:15:35] [Applause] [01:16:27] you
