[00:00:00] the ad adapt abduction of Nancy Guthrie, [00:00:04] Savannah Guthri's mom. So, Savannah [00:00:06] Guthrie is the host of the Today Show. [00:00:08] She's been hosting that show since 2011. [00:00:12] She um was a co-host of the Third Hour, [00:00:14] chief legal correspondent, later [00:00:16] becoming a main co-anchor in 2012. She [00:00:20] previously served as a White House [00:00:22] correspondent for NBC News from 2008 to [00:00:25] 2011. And what's kind of tragic about [00:00:27] this is it ties into another current [00:00:29] event and that she was supposed to be [00:00:30] hosting the 2026 Winter Olympics opening [00:00:33] ceremony in Italy. So obviously that's [00:00:36] not going to be happening because her [00:00:39] mother Nancy who lived in Tucson or [00:00:41] lives in Tucson [00:00:41] >> where she grew up [00:00:42] >> where she grew up. So just down the road [00:00:44] from us here really really close to the [00:00:46] border she was abducted from her house. [00:00:50] Uh it looks like uh some sometime on [00:00:53] Sunday uh she failed to show up at [00:00:57] church as she always did and that was so [00:01:01] striking to those who are used to seeing [00:01:03] her that they immediately reported her [00:01:05] as missing. They went to check on her [00:01:08] missing. So it I when I heard this story [00:01:11] Blake and this is gonna sound weird but [00:01:14] you were the first person I thought of. [00:01:16] And the reason I say that is because [00:01:18] when Charlie was here and we were living [00:01:21] through Biden's border invasion, [00:01:24] >> we kept warning, you kept warning [00:01:26] specifically about the rise of [00:01:30] kidnappings in South America and how we [00:01:32] were basically opening our doors to the [00:01:33] same culture here. It's that a long-term [00:01:35] thing is that as you as the border [00:01:38] between the US and Latin America would [00:01:40] break down, I feared and we don't know, [00:01:43] we just to clarify, we don't know all [00:01:44] the facts here, so this is still [00:01:46] speculative on our part, but they do [00:01:48] think a kidnapping here is very [00:01:50] plausible. Uh they seem to have a ransom [00:01:52] note of some kind. They think it might [00:01:54] be real. Uh I believe her pacemaker has [00:01:56] stopped updating with her Apple Watch [00:01:59] and so it seems like she's out of range [00:02:01] of it. Uh so various reasons they think [00:02:03] it's real. And a thing that this got us [00:02:05] thinking of is in Latin America uh a [00:02:09] very common crime relative to the United [00:02:11] States is kidnapping specifically for [00:02:14] ransom. [00:02:15] >> Uh in Venezuela for example we have an [00:02:17] image of this. We do throw that up. [00:02:19] >> Uh in Venezuela under the Chavez [00:02:21] government they had to break down law [00:02:22] and order and so they started having [00:02:24] thousands of kidnappings per year. That [00:02:27] would be like having thousands in a [00:02:28] nation the size of California. increased [00:02:31] under Hugo Chavez by 1,716% [00:02:35] in increase of abductions. [00:02:37] >> And that's like going into 2011. I don't [00:02:38] know what the rate was over the past 15 [00:02:40] years, but I think it remained high. And [00:02:42] it's not just Venezuela. Mexico, I think [00:02:45] in 2022 or 23, they had a 100,000 [00:02:48] missing people in a year. That's like a [00:02:50] one in a thousand chance of going [00:02:51] missing each year in Mexico. I think a [00:02:53] lot of that gets resolved eventually, [00:02:55] but that's just the thing. It's such a [00:02:57] regular industry in the US. Missing [00:03:00] people are usually like it could be a [00:03:01] custody dispute or it could be someone [00:03:04] kind of ran away and they they just [00:03:05] genuinely uh disappeared or like [00:03:09] tragically you have you know kidnappings [00:03:11] that unfortunately end in in murders. [00:03:13] But you don't see too much kidnapping [00:03:14] for ransom as a business model. [00:03:16] >> And I need just need to be clear for [00:03:18] accuracy sake. We don't know who took [00:03:20] her. They don't have any leads. They [00:03:22] have no suspects. I mean this is they [00:03:24] are trying to get as much help from the [00:03:27] community. Ring cameras all of those [00:03:29] things. The FBI has been called in. Cash [00:03:32] Patel is in the uh President Trump has [00:03:35] spoken with Savannah Guthrie saying that [00:03:37] you know the full force of the federal [00:03:39] government law enforcement is going to [00:03:40] be there helping. Uh there's also been a [00:03:43] rant Yeah, there it is. There's the true [00:03:44] social saying that the president spoke [00:03:46] with Savannah Guthrie. Uh I I think that [00:03:49] that's really touching. I'm sure [00:03:50] Savannah Guthrie is a a liberal person. [00:03:52] probably not a supporter but here in her [00:03:54] time of need and I you know they've even [00:03:57] gotten a ransom note that now they can't [00:04:00] say that it's 100% with 100% certainty [00:04:03] that it is uh accurate that is it is uh [00:04:06] authentic but there are some reasons to [00:04:10] believe that it probably is. Let's go [00:04:12] ahead and play this from a local [00:04:13] affiliate in Tucson KD13 News. They are [00:04:17] the ones that received the alleged [00:04:19] ransom note tied to the disappearance of [00:04:21] Na Nancy Guthrie. And the station's [00:04:24] anchor, Mary Coleman, here tells CNN uh [00:04:27] why she believes this might not be a [00:04:29] hoax. 48 485. [00:04:31] >> There are a few things that we can share [00:04:33] as far as what the contents were. Um, a [00:04:36] lot of it is information that only [00:04:38] someone who is holding her for ransom [00:04:40] would know. some very sensitive [00:04:42] information and things that uh people [00:04:44] who weren't there when she was taken [00:04:46] captive would know. So, those are things [00:04:48] that are concerning. We immediately sent [00:04:51] that information over to the sheriff's [00:04:52] department and they're of course looking [00:04:54] into the legitimacy of it. But it also [00:04:56] included a dollar amount to deadline and [00:04:58] and again other specifics that that only [00:05:00] industry's abductor might know. So, that [00:05:02] definitely raised some red flags. So, [00:05:05] just to repeat, it says the alleged [00:05:08] ransom note included a dollar amount, a [00:05:10] deadline, and again other specifics that [00:05:14] only Guthri's abductor might know. And [00:05:18] there is we have an image. This is a a [00:05:20] blood splatter down I I believe on the [00:05:24] front porch of the the the home, uh, [00:05:28] which I've been told is is sort of like [00:05:32] low velocity blood splatter. So [00:05:34] something like maybe from a bloody nose [00:05:37] and um you know so it's as opposed to a [00:05:41] gunshot or something like that where [00:05:43] would be like more high velocity [00:05:45] splatter. So the hope is is that she's [00:05:48] still alive and that she is being held [00:05:51] somewhere hopefully held for ransom and [00:05:54] in the next segment we are going to play [00:05:56] the Guthrie children along with [00:05:58] Savannah. She's right in the middle. Uh, [00:06:01] you know, a video that they've just [00:06:03] released saying that we are ready to [00:06:05] talk. So, if you have Nancy, if you have [00:06:07] our mother, please, we want to talk. [00:06:09] Please release her. It's [00:06:11] heart-wrenching. It's gut-wrenching. Uh, [00:06:13] I just want to warn you. So, on the [00:06:14] other side of the break, we will play [00:06:16] that and then we'll go through the [00:06:18] timeline of events because again, this [00:06:20] does potentially have national [00:06:21] implications [00:06:23] if if we find out ultimately that cartel [00:06:25] factions were involved. If you're [00:06:27] stressed about getting out of debt, [00:06:29] timing matters. Listen to this. The [00:06:31] Federal Reserve says many banks are [00:06:33] tightening their standards, which means [00:06:35] right now may be your best window to [00:06:37] negotiate debt settlements before [00:06:39] lenders tighten further. That's why I [00:06:41] recommend Done with Debt. They're [00:06:43] experienced at navigating debt relief [00:06:45] without bankruptcy or new loans. They [00:06:47] know who's negotiating and how to get [00:06:49] the biggest reduction possible. So, [00:06:51] don't wait. Visit donewithd.com [00:06:54] now for a free consultation. That's [00:06:56] donewithd.com. [00:06:58] donedebt.com. [00:07:03] Nancy Guthrie, 84, arrives at her home [00:07:06] in the Catalina Foothills area of [00:07:09] Tucson, Arizona. So, it's kind of [00:07:10] outside of town, a little bit remote. [00:07:12] She had spent the evening having dinner [00:07:14] with family, including her daughter [00:07:16] Annie, who drove her home. It is [00:07:18] believed Annie is the last person to [00:07:19] have seen her mother. [00:07:22] Sunday, February 1st. So, so that was [00:07:24] late at night. 2:00 a.m. in the morning, [00:07:26] Guthri's pacemaker syncs with her Apple [00:07:28] devices. At home for the last time, [00:07:31] investigators believe she is taken out [00:07:33] of range around this time. 11:00 a.m. [00:07:36] Nancy fails to arrive at regular church [00:07:38] service, a member uh of which calls her [00:07:41] family. 11:10, family members arrive at [00:07:43] her home to find it empty. 12:15, [00:07:47] uh, Pima County Sheriff's Department [00:07:49] receives a missing person call. Deputies [00:07:51] respond and find NY's car phone and [00:07:53] wallet still inside the home. Blood [00:07:56] drops are found leading outside toward [00:07:58] the driveway. The doorbell camera had [00:08:01] been removed. So the I think that's a [00:08:03] really important detail there that the [00:08:05] doorbell camera had been removed. Uh by [00:08:08] Monday, uh Sheriff Chris Nanos says he [00:08:11] believes Nancy Guthrie was taken against [00:08:13] her will approximately between 9:30 p.m. [00:08:15] Saturday and 11:00 a.m. Sunday. So it's [00:08:17] a pretty big window. Although that [00:08:19] pacemaker [00:08:21] uh syncing with the Apple devices at 2 [00:08:23] am for the last time would probably [00:08:25] indicate that it happened after 2 a.m. [00:08:28] So the home is treated as a potential [00:08:30] crime scene and homicide detectives are [00:08:32] involved and now you've got all of [00:08:33] federal law enforcement. Christy Gnome [00:08:36] uh was doing some border wall visits [00:08:38] down in the Tucson sector. So she's now [00:08:42] been dispatched to help. Another key [00:08:44] that I think is, you know, a lot of [00:08:46] people I haven't heard people bring up, [00:08:48] but is that Customs and Border Patrol [00:08:50] are involved, which [00:08:52] again, it could just be all hands on [00:08:55] deck. [00:08:55] >> We'll learn more. [00:08:56] >> We'll learn more. [00:08:57] >> We speculate on this for a reason [00:08:59] because it is just to site other [00:09:03] examples is here in Phoenix, we've also [00:09:06] seen a surge in sort of we saw [00:09:08] especially during the Biden years, we [00:09:09] saw the surge in international burglary [00:09:11] rings. Yep. We saw international fencing [00:09:14] rings as it were. Um people would steal [00:09:17] cars up in Scottsdale and they would be [00:09:19] in Mexico in six hours and you're never [00:09:22] going to see them again after that. [00:09:24] >> There there is a real [00:09:26] >> there's an internationalization of crime [00:09:28] in the United States that is entirely [00:09:30] downstream of the fact that we have had [00:09:33] a totally open border for so long. And [00:09:36] we hope this isn't a manifestation of [00:09:37] that. But at least in my opinion, it's [00:09:40] hard for me to not immediately think of [00:09:42] those kidnappings for ransom that have [00:09:44] happened so often in Latin America. If [00:09:46] you follow pro sports, a real thing is [00:09:49] proathletes who came from Venezuela or [00:09:51] from the Dominican Republic, places like [00:09:53] that, they have to worry about their [00:09:54] family members getting kidnapped because [00:09:55] they know they have a rich relative in [00:09:57] the United States. [00:09:58] >> Yeah, it it it's a real problem. And you [00:10:00] think about Savannah Guthrie, obviously [00:10:02] on the Today Show, huge, huge celebrity, [00:10:05] and she just has this 80 oxygenerian [00:10:08] mother out kind of in the outskirts of [00:10:10] Tucson sitting or living seemingly [00:10:14] alone. You know, it was interesting. Uh [00:10:17] my mother's reaction to this was that, [00:10:19] you know, I I'm not sure I would want my [00:10:21] 80 plus year old mom to be living out [00:10:22] alone. And I was like, well, but she's [00:10:24] just she's independent. She should have [00:10:27] every right to do that. ever think about [00:10:29] civilization is the ability for the [00:10:31] weak, the elderly, the vulnerable to [00:10:34] live in safety. And [00:10:36] >> yes, that's a great point that steadily [00:10:38] goes away. [00:10:39] >> You do not uphold civilization. [00:10:41] >> Well, it's interesting, too. We're going [00:10:42] to have uh Senator Rick Scott on next uh [00:10:45] in the next segment. And you know, [00:10:47] Florida is a place where you mentioned [00:10:48] Venezuelans, you mentioned all of this [00:10:50] Latin American community that has [00:10:52] gathered in Miami and in South South [00:10:54] Florida. And you know, they love it [00:10:57] there because it's civilization, law and [00:10:59] order, because they actually have a [00:11:01] government that means business and isn't [00:11:02] going to let crooks run the streets. [00:11:04] Anyways, here's the video of Savannah [00:11:06] Guthrie and her sister and her [00:11:07] brother-in-law addressing the ransom [00:11:09] note rumors and they speak directly to [00:11:12] their mom, Nancy 465. [00:11:15] >> We too have heard the reports about a [00:11:18] ransom letter in the media. [00:11:21] As a family, we are doing everything [00:11:24] that we can. [00:11:27] We are ready to talk. We need to know [00:11:31] without a doubt that she is alive and [00:11:35] that you have her. [00:11:37] We want to hear from you and we are [00:11:40] ready to listen. Mommy, [00:11:45] if you are hearing this, you are a [00:11:48] strong woman. [00:11:50] You are God's precious daughter, Nancy. [00:11:56] We believe and know that even in this [00:11:59] valley, he is with you. [00:12:03] Everyone is looking for you, Mommy. [00:12:05] Everywhere. We love you, Mom. [00:12:10] >> Yeah, that's really touching stuff. it [00:12:13] uh I've heard it for the first time on [00:12:15] the drive into the office and it it it's [00:12:19] emotional stuff. There's no doubt, you [00:12:21] know, and I think God good goodness I I [00:12:24] think everything we've lived through too [00:12:25] makes it harder for some reason because [00:12:27] um you know just these high-profile [00:12:29] cases where you're forced to sort of be [00:12:33] strong in a public sense like that. It's [00:12:36] just it's excruciating stuff. And so our [00:12:39] hearts and prayers are with uh Savannah [00:12:42] Guthrie and her family and with Nancy, [00:12:45] her mom. We pray that she's okay. And um [00:12:49] man, so the couple more clips here. This [00:12:54] is Christy Gnome saying DHS is assisting [00:12:56] with the search for Nancy Guthrie 466. [00:12:59] They have asked us to help um with some [00:13:01] of our K9 teams and uh CBP has partnered [00:13:04] with the other agencies involved, but um [00:13:07] we're all just heartsick about this and [00:13:09] hope she's found soon and that she's [00:13:11] found safely um and that we can get to [00:13:13] the bottom of what really happened. [00:13:16] >> And it looks like the search for Nancy [00:13:19] has picked up backup at Guthri's house. [00:13:22] So, I don't know if they're sweeping for [00:13:23] more details here or more clues. 464 [00:13:27] >> that the sheriff's department announced [00:13:29] yesterday that they had cleared the [00:13:31] crime scene at Nancy Guthri's home and [00:13:34] handed it back to the Guthrie family. [00:13:37] Well, just a short time ago, uh, a whole [00:13:41] bunch of sheriff's deputies showed up [00:13:43] there along with border patrol agents [00:13:46] uh, with dogs uh, and members of the FBI [00:13:51] and they put the tape back around that [00:13:54] house. sealing it off. And we believe [00:13:57] that there is a search ongoing in part [00:14:00] of the area around the back of that [00:14:02] property right now. We don't know [00:14:04] exactly what they're all looking for. Uh [00:14:06] but certainly there is suddenly very [00:14:09] intense activity back at Nancy Guthri's [00:14:12] house. [00:14:14] >> So that that's an interesting thing [00:14:15] where they clear the house, they give it [00:14:17] back to the family, and then they move [00:14:20] back in and tape it all off. So [00:14:22] interesting. I want to show this image [00:14:24] though kind of back to your earlier [00:14:26] point 492. This is a pic of um a map of [00:14:29] Tucson's proximity to the border and uh [00:14:32] corresponding border wall 492 here. So [00:14:36] if you look at this map the red portions [00:14:38] of it are finished wall, [00:14:41] new border wall from President Trump. [00:14:43] Orange are older border wall. Yellow is [00:14:46] like vehicle fence. Green is damaged [00:14:48] border wall. So, uh they it's a pretty I [00:14:52] mean goes stretches into New Mexico. A [00:14:54] lot of that land where there isn't [00:14:55] border wall is either very uh second uh [00:14:59] priority border wall area, very remote [00:15:02] or it's mountainous. Uh but I do believe [00:15:04] the plan is to complete it all the way [00:15:06] through. So, just something to keep in [00:15:08] mind as we talk about that
