[00:00:00] How can nobody be talking about the fact [00:00:03] that Taliban is holding American [00:00:05] hostages while we pay them yes [00:00:07] >> $87 million a week [00:00:10] >> and we have a law that can stop the [00:00:11] money today the one passed in September [00:00:14] if they're holding an American [00:00:16] >> and the White House is interfering with [00:00:18] this too. [00:00:19] >> Yes, they're allowing this continue with [00:00:21] the Taliban. [00:00:23] >> So where are we with this Taliban [00:00:25] funding thing? I know it's it's what [00:00:27] stuck in the Senate or what they voted [00:00:29] to vote on it or something. I can't [00:00:31] even. It's just like the [ __ ] is this? [00:00:32] >> Congress is a nightmare. So, what it was [00:00:34] it was sitting in a committee in the [00:00:37] Senate and they had to prove it to go to [00:00:40] the floor. So, they finally moved it out [00:00:42] of that committee and now it's going to [00:00:44] go to the floor. So, we're still waiting [00:00:46] then on a full Senate vote. [00:00:47] >> Who's the one senator that's against [00:00:49] this? [00:00:50] >> So, [00:00:50] >> is it I can't remember. [00:00:51] >> Well, it wasn't exactly There was a [00:00:53] couple senators. The issue was a staff [00:00:55] member and his name is Tom West. So a [00:00:58] lot of people know Tom West from doing [00:00:59] the withdrawal because at the time he [00:01:01] was basically like the US government's [00:01:04] official representative to the Taliban. [00:01:06] Obviously the new administration came in [00:01:09] and Tulsa Gabard pulled his security [00:01:11] clearance cuz he's a snake. He's a [00:01:12] Taliban lobbyist. So she's like you [00:01:14] don't need a classified clearance. So [00:01:16] then he got picked up by this committee [00:01:18] in the Senate and he now works on the [00:01:20] Hill because that's how our system [00:01:21] works. Um, and so he's a huge lobbyist. [00:01:25] His wife is actually in a Taliban [00:01:28] family. So this is corruption enriching [00:01:30] themselves, all that type of thing. So [00:01:32] he's been the huge hiccup in the Senate, [00:01:35] but there is also some sort of hiccup [00:01:37] and we don't know who it is in the White [00:01:38] House who's supportive of the Taliban [00:01:41] because remember we [00:01:42] >> g I wonder who that could be. [00:01:43] >> So remember we have another [00:01:45] >> Doha deal was done when [00:01:47] >> exactly Doha deal is a problem. But [00:01:48] remember besides the Doha deal, what's [00:01:50] the other big problem? Who could be in [00:01:52] the White House that has a huge ego that [00:01:54] refuses to admit they're wrong about [00:01:55] [ __ ] I [ __ ] wonder. [00:01:57] >> Well, that's the other problem, though. [00:02:00] We have Americans held by the Taliban. [00:02:02] Think about it. Think about the last [00:02:03] year. We've heard a lot about saving [00:02:06] hostages in Gaza even when no Americans [00:02:08] are left. We had to save obviously [00:02:10] hostages in Venezuela. When have you [00:02:12] heard the administration talk about our [00:02:14] Americans in Afghanistan this whole last [00:02:16] year? When? When one discussion? [00:02:18] >> Never. [00:02:19] >> It's insanity. That's a problem because [00:02:21] someone in the White House is supportive [00:02:23] in some way of the Taliban. Now, I don't [00:02:25] know if you saw, but in September 5th, [00:02:27] Trump actually signed an executive order [00:02:29] and it was something like state sponsor [00:02:32] of wrongful persons. Did you see this? [00:02:35] >> Mm-m. [00:02:35] >> So, anyway, it was an executive order to [00:02:38] put different pressures on countries [00:02:41] holding Americans. It would be like cut [00:02:43] off the money you're sending to them, [00:02:46] block um people with US passports [00:02:48] traveling there, etc. So they have this [00:02:51] law in the books and they're not using [00:02:53] against the Taliban. Well, why wouldn't [00:02:54] you be using a tal against the Taliban? [00:02:56] It was written to get Americans out of [00:02:59] wrongful custody. We have two Americans [00:03:02] alive in Taliban custody and then we [00:03:04] have a third that likely is dead and we [00:03:06] need his body returned. So you have a [00:03:09] law in place and you can use it in Gaza, [00:03:12] you can use it in Venezuela, but you [00:03:14] can't use it in Afghanistan. So that's [00:03:15] super super frustrating. [00:03:16] >> Who are they? So we have obviously [00:03:18] Makmash Habibi who I've told you about [00:03:22] that al-Qaeda is charging him with the [00:03:26] death of its last leader Dr. Iman [00:03:28] Alzawihiri. So he's being tortured and [00:03:30] all that type of stuff. And then we have [00:03:33] um Dennis Cole. Um he's an older [00:03:36] American. So Dennis Cole's been in [00:03:38] custody literally the last year. [00:03:40] Nobody's hardly said anything about it. [00:03:42] Like just last month his family I think [00:03:43] started talking about it. the Taliban. I [00:03:45] don't even know if they've charged him [00:03:47] with anything. So they clearly have no [00:03:48] working court system. Um and then [00:03:51] unfortunately the last person's Paul [00:03:53] Overby and he I don't know if you know [00:03:56] he was a writer and he actually wrote [00:03:57] about the first Afghan war. So he put [00:03:59] out a book I think it was like holy [00:04:00] blood in the '9s and he wrote about the [00:04:03] Soviet Afghan war. Well he was back over [00:04:06] there. This is a long time ago now. He's [00:04:07] been in custody or he's deceased for 11 [00:04:09] years. So he went back over to do [00:04:11] research for his book. He left [00:04:13] Afghanistan traveling to Wazeristan to [00:04:15] interview Siraj Shadin Hakani who helped [00:04:19] capture Makun Shahhabibi and then he [00:04:21] went missing. So they thought originally [00:04:24] he was dead and then do you remember [00:04:25] that jerk David Roodie? [00:04:27] >> No. [00:04:28] >> So there was this guy I swear he [00:04:30] purposely got um captured by the Hakani. [00:04:32] American David Roodie and he was [00:04:36] captured and then all this stuff went [00:04:38] on. These people paid off a bunch of [00:04:40] people and he gets released. So he gets [00:04:43] released. Actually Boon was on the team [00:04:45] that picked him up when he got released [00:04:46] by the Acon. So people think he was [00:04:48] rescued. He wasn't. He was released for [00:04:49] a ton of money. [00:04:50] >> So anyway, when he comes out he says, "I [00:04:53] saw Paul in custody." So that was about [00:04:55] 2019. But there are a lot of people. [00:04:57] He's in his 80s now. Paul, so a lot of [00:04:59] people think he's deceased. So the US [00:05:01] government wants like his re remains in [00:05:04] his case. So we know two are alive for [00:05:06] sure. But again, no American knows any [00:05:09] of these names except maybe Habibi [00:05:11] because I've said it a couple times. But [00:05:12] it's very very frustrating. That's like [00:05:14] no one cares. The other part is so [00:05:16] Habibi luckily has a $5 million bounty. [00:05:20] There was a $5 million bounty to get [00:05:22] Paul [00:05:24] Dennis. There's zero bounty. How do you [00:05:27] not have a $5 million bounty to return [00:05:29] him if you have a$5 million dollar [00:05:30] bounty for the other two? Our hostage [00:05:33] diplomacy is one of the craziest things [00:05:34] you've ever seen. There's like no plan. [00:05:37] It's all over the place. Terrorists get [00:05:39] anything they want. [00:05:40] >> How can nobody be talking about the fact [00:05:43] that Taliban is holding American [00:05:45] hostages while we pay them yes $87 [00:05:48] million a week? And we have a law that [00:05:51] can stop the money today, the one passed [00:05:54] in September, if they're holding it [00:05:56] American. [00:05:56] >> And the White House is interfering with [00:05:58] this too. [00:05:59] >> Yes, they're allowing this continue with [00:06:02] the Taliban. [00:06:03] This weakness towards the Taliban is [00:06:05] like one of the most insane things I've [00:06:07] ever seen. Um, and remember, one of [00:06:09] these Americans is literally being [00:06:11] tortured tortured. Like they've had to [00:06:14] bring him to the hospital to revive him [00:06:16] to continue his torture. [00:06:17] >> Holy [ __ ] I mean, it's one of the most [00:06:19] frustrating things. And then even a lot [00:06:21] of people in the government are like, [00:06:22] "We don't know if he's still alive. [00:06:24] Dude's still alive, but he's barely [00:06:25] hanging on because you guys won't [00:06:27] [ __ ] make a deal to get him [00:06:28] released." [00:06:30] >> I hope you do an episode on this. [00:06:32] >> It's super frustrating. [00:06:34] >> It's It's just [00:06:36] >> I mean, the whole hostage diplomacy, you [00:06:38] really should bring some people in, some [00:06:40] of these families or some people go do [00:06:41] the negotiations. It is an entire train [00:06:44] wreck. And we knew this years ago. Do [00:06:47] you remember Kayla Mueller? [00:06:48] >> So, she was the one um the head of ICE [00:06:51] um a head of ISIS was holding her, [00:06:53] right? I think it was Baghdaddy and he [00:06:55] was she was unfortunately probably his [00:06:56] sex slave or whatever. And his the State [00:06:59] Department told the family, "Don't say [00:07:00] she's kidnapped." And they waited [00:07:02] forever and then they made all this [00:07:04] stuff and she ended dying, right? And [00:07:05] then the family came out after and said [00:07:07] all the crazy stuff that went wrong. Bob [00:07:09] Levenson's another great example who [00:07:11] died in Iranian custody, you know. Um [00:07:14] they even passed the law because that [00:07:15] went so bad on how so hostage diplomacy [00:07:18] is just [00:07:20] insane. Like we do not do this properly. [00:07:23] And remember these are Americans that [00:07:25] were trying to save in these places. [00:07:27] >> Dude, I just I just you know [00:07:31] >> when we gave those billions to Iran, we [00:07:34] literally didn't make a contingent on [00:07:36] Bob Levenson who was alive then being [00:07:38] released. So we're handing this cash to [00:07:40] all these people as they hold Americans. [00:07:43] No matter where you're watching the [00:07:44] Shawn Ryan Show from, if you get [00:07:47] anything out of this at all, anything, [00:07:49] please like, comment, and subscribe.
