[00:00:00] Thank you, Mr. Chairman. I just want to [00:00:01] say a brief word about Matt Price, who [00:00:03] has been nominated by the president to [00:00:06] be the United States Attorney for the [00:00:07] Western District of Missouri. We'll be [00:00:08] voting on him here, I think, in just a [00:00:10] few minutes. [00:00:11] >> And I just want to say what a fantastic [00:00:14] nominee I think he is. In two decades, [00:00:16] his two decades since graduating from [00:00:18] law school in St. Louis, Matt has [00:00:19] experienced the full range of legal [00:00:21] practice from the legal academy to [00:00:23] representing major companies and now [00:00:25] he's ready to return to his roots as a [00:00:27] prosecutor. He started out his career as [00:00:29] a Jefferson County prosecutor, lower [00:00:31] local prosecutor in the St. Louis area. [00:00:33] Then he joined the St. Louis Circuit [00:00:35] Attorney's Office. Then he went on to [00:00:37] become an assistant United States [00:00:38] attorney. So he's been a local [00:00:40] prosecutor. He has been a federal [00:00:41] prosecutor. Uh he's also worked on the [00:00:44] business side of things. The litigators [00:00:46] on this committee and former prosecutors [00:00:48] on this committee will like this. He has [00:00:50] tried personally 20 cases to verdict and [00:00:52] has appeared in court personally over [00:00:54] 1,700 [00:00:56] times. He has led complex prosecutions [00:00:59] based on vast investigations and [00:01:02] cooperation between as many different as [00:01:04] 10 different state and federal agencies. [00:01:07] He understands how to keep the people of [00:01:09] Missouri safe, which is going to be his [00:01:10] number one priority. He knows how to [00:01:12] lead the US attorney's office. He was an [00:01:14] A USA for 5 years. He knows how to [00:01:17] invest in the next generation of federal [00:01:19] prosecutors to make sure that we [00:01:21] continue our recruitment, our retention, [00:01:23] and keep morale high and remain the best [00:01:25] prosecutors, keep getting the best [00:01:27] prosecutors in the country to come and [00:01:29] serve as a USA. He's active in his [00:01:30] community. He volunteers with the [00:01:32] Knights of Columbus. He's a leader in [00:01:34] the local legal community. And I'll just [00:01:35] say in short, Mr. Chairman, he's a model [00:01:37] of public service. He's been a terrific [00:01:39] prosecutor. I know he'll do a great job [00:01:41] again this time as the US attorney for [00:01:43] the Western District. Thank you.
