[00:00:00] I'm Xander. I am a high schooler in the
[00:00:02] area and I was assigned a project to
[00:00:05] prove how Christianity is the only true
[00:00:07] religion and I'd like to hear your
[00:00:08] standpoint on that.
[00:00:10] >> Um, yeah. First, the Bible is the most
[00:00:12] verified, authenticated historical
[00:00:14] document in history. Um, it is it is
[00:00:18] self-evident that I believe there is a
[00:00:20] God outside of our atheistic friend. Um,
[00:00:22] and we see in more ways than one how
[00:00:26] Jesus Christ liberates us from our sins.
[00:00:28] And the promise of Christianity is
[00:00:30] different than any other world religion.
[00:00:32] Every other world religion is about you
[00:00:34] getting trying to go closer to God.
[00:00:35] Christianity is God coming closer to
[00:00:37] you.
[00:00:37] >> So for context, I'm a devoted Catholic.
[00:00:40] I'm a devoted Catholic. So I respect you
[00:00:42] and in that matter. Um, but I feel like
[00:00:45] and I also have a verse if that's okay.
[00:00:47] Okay. So Mark 3:24-25 says, "If a
[00:00:50] kingdom is divided against itself, that
[00:00:52] kingdom cannot stand. And if a house is
[00:00:54] divided against itself, that house will
[00:00:55] not be able to stand." So I'm not a
[00:00:58] political person and I feel like there's
[00:01:01] so much division here and there's so
[00:01:03] much hate. So my question is, um,
[00:01:08] with the rise of political tension, is
[00:01:10] this turning Americans away from God?
[00:01:13] >> It is. I think the way we solve our
[00:01:14] political tension is we have to try to
[00:01:16] point people to Jesus. And Jesus is the
[00:01:19] great healer of all of our divides.
[00:01:21] >> I I will say that Jesus did say equally,
[00:01:25] I did not come to unite the world, but I
[00:01:27] came to divide the world. It's a very
[00:01:29] difficult teaching to kind of
[00:01:30] internalize. The truth sometimes can
[00:01:32] divide, but we must always bring people
[00:01:34] back to our Lord Jesus Christ. That's
[00:01:36] the most important message I have for
[00:01:38] you today, especially going through this
[00:01:40] Advent and Easter season. That
[00:01:42] [cheering]
[00:01:43] there's a God who loves you. The gospel
[00:01:46] in four words is Jesus took my place. In
[00:01:48] three words, it is him for me. In two
[00:01:51] words, it's substitutionary atonement.
[00:01:53] And one words, it's grace. You do not
[00:01:55] earn a place in heaven. You do not do
[00:01:58] good things to go to heaven. It's by
[00:02:00] grace. God gave you a gift. He lived a
[00:02:02] perfect life. He sent his son on a
[00:02:04] rescue mission who then showed us how to
[00:02:07] live, died the most cruel death in the
[00:02:09] history of man to then rise on the third
[00:02:13] day so that we can live forever and pay
[00:02:15] off our sins. Thank you so much.
[00:02:17] >> I wanted to ask you if you would um mind
[00:02:19] sharing your testimony with us and how
[00:02:22] Christ saved you.
[00:02:23] >> I uh I gave my life to the Lord in fifth
[00:02:25] grade in the cyber of Chicago Christian
[00:02:27] Heritage Academy. It was presented
[00:02:29] incredibly well. I knew the stakes. I
[00:02:31] understood the consequences that I don't
[00:02:33] earn salvation. I don't do good things
[00:02:35] to get to heaven. But I am so broken. I
[00:02:38] fall short of the glory of God every
[00:02:39] day. I covet. I envy. I have jealousy.
[00:02:43] And we have a fleshly nature because we
[00:02:45] are postgarden that we need Jesus. And I
[00:02:48] gave my life to the Lord and made Jesus
[00:02:49] Christ the chairman of the board of my
[00:02:51] life in fifth grade. And every year as I
[00:02:53] grow that means more to me. The more I
[00:02:55] realize how broken and how sinful I am
[00:02:57] and how much the world needs Jesus. Um,
[00:03:00] and the more I study the word and I
[00:03:02] study the scripture, the more I want to
[00:03:03] bring it to people that are lost. And
[00:03:05] you might be here on this campus. And
[00:03:07] it's a little different here in Oklahoma
[00:03:08] because in some ways you guys might feel
[00:03:10] inundated because you're in the Bible
[00:03:12] belt. Um, and you guys all might, you
[00:03:14] know, grow up around Christianity and
[00:03:16] Charlie, you've heard enough of this
[00:03:17] Jesus thing. I would just say for you
[00:03:19] guys, especially in college, pursue a
[00:03:21] relationship with Jesus Christ more than
[00:03:23] anything else. Look at Jesus as someone
[00:03:25] in a personal and intimate relationship.
[00:03:28] understand the character and this is
[00:03:30] what makes this is what makes our Lord
[00:03:32] and Savior so different is that he was
[00:03:34] 100% grace and 100% truth but also fully
[00:03:37] man and fully God. I mean that's a
[00:03:39] mind-blowing proposition, right? And so
[00:03:42] that Jesus Christ walked on this earth
[00:03:45] as a human being and went through some
[00:03:47] of the same struggles that you went
[00:03:49] through is a remarkable thing. But
[00:03:51] that's not to say though that he affirms
[00:03:52] your sins or that he will say that it's
[00:03:55] okay that you're watching pornography or
[00:03:57] you're sleeping around or anything.
[00:03:59] Instead, he understood the temptation
[00:04:01] and he is there to challenge you and
[00:04:03] elevate you to live a godly and moral
[00:04:05] life. And so I know a lot of people
[00:04:08] might be a little sour on religion. I
[00:04:10] actually love the world word religion. I
[00:04:12] can't stand when people say, "Well, I'm
[00:04:14] spiritual, not religious." You need
[00:04:15] religion because that's structure and
[00:04:17] that's order. It's a whole separate
[00:04:18] topic. I'm happy. But in college at the
[00:04:21] LA, the one thing you need is a
[00:04:23] relationship. Make Christ a rel have a
[00:04:26] relationship with Jesus Christ. Invite
[00:04:28] him into your life. Read the word every
[00:04:30] single day. Know what he believed and
[00:04:32] know what he said.
[00:04:33] >> Amen.
[00:04:33] >> Thank you.
[00:04:34] >> Hey, Charlie. Uh thank you for
[00:04:36] everything you do. You're one of the
[00:04:37] reasons I started going to the church
[00:04:39] this year. Um as someone who didn't grow
[00:04:41] up with religious uh religion, what
[00:04:43] advice would you give to someone who's
[00:04:45] trying to welcome religion into their
[00:04:46] life and find their faith? I love that
[00:04:49] question. Read your Bible every single
[00:04:50] day. Um, fight your flesh. Your flesh is
[00:04:54] going to want to do easy and immediate
[00:04:55] things like drink and go out and do
[00:04:58] stuff. Find your aim as a as a man and
[00:05:01] point everything you can towards it. And
[00:05:03] spread the good news of God and Jesus
[00:05:05] Christ in every possible way that you
[00:05:07] can and put Jesus first in everything
[00:05:09] that you do.
[00:05:10] >> Awesome. Thank you. Hi, Mr. Kirk. My
[00:05:12] name is Max.
[00:05:14] You aware that today is April Fool's
[00:05:16] Day?
[00:05:17] All right. Well, I'm also aware that
[00:05:20] it's April Fool's Day, and I have an
[00:05:22] opinion of somebody who's a fool, and I
[00:05:24] think you would agree with it. Somebody
[00:05:26] who worships the creation rather than
[00:05:29] the creator,
[00:05:30] >> like Romans 1.
[00:05:31] >> Like Romans 1. That's what's on my sign.
[00:05:33] Here, let's let everybody see it. Um, I
[00:05:37] do have a point though. As a Christian,
[00:05:40] I want to see everyone here's hearts
[00:05:43] turn from the creation to the creator.
[00:05:44] Maybe they're worshiping themselves, but
[00:05:46] I want to see them turn to the creator.
[00:05:48] And I think you you think something
[00:05:50] similar. And when I look at the New
[00:05:51] Testament, I see that the way that's
[00:05:54] going to come about is through preaching
[00:05:55] the gospel, right? But I also want
[00:05:58] society to change. So my question for
[00:06:01] you is more of an advice question. um as
[00:06:03] a Christian who wants to see the world
[00:06:05] changed through the death and
[00:06:06] resurrection of Jesus, how much of my
[00:06:08] effort should be put towards
[00:06:11] preaching the gospel and how much of it
[00:06:13] should be spent lobbying for policies.
[00:06:15] What's more effective? And you know,
[00:06:17] maybe it's not an either or thing. Yeah.
[00:06:18] >> But I think a lot of times uh especially
[00:06:20] conservative Christians will uh take the
[00:06:23] policies without ever telling anybody
[00:06:25] about Jesus.
[00:06:26] >> Well, we need both, right? So, first and
[00:06:27] foremost, uh thank you. Everyone should
[00:06:29] give their life to Jesus. is the most
[00:06:30] important thing that anybody can do
[00:06:32] [cheering] in your life. Number one,
[00:06:34] [applause]
[00:06:36] we we have seen a hyper feminized gospel
[00:06:39] the last 20 or 30 years and it's a big
[00:06:41] problem. We need a resurgence of a
[00:06:42] masculine gospel, which is one that is
[00:06:44] unafraid of telling the consequences of
[00:06:46] sin, right? Well, the sin and hell. So,
[00:06:49] we talk a lot about a savior, but how
[00:06:51] can you possibly know you need a savior
[00:06:53] if you don't talk about sin? And so, how
[00:06:55] do you know you need a savior if you
[00:06:56] don't know what you're being rescued
[00:06:57] from? And so we need to instruct and
[00:07:00] talk about how we all for all of us
[00:07:02] myself included all of us on a daily
[00:07:04] basis fall short of the glory of God. We
[00:07:06] are violating many of the ten
[00:07:08] commandments almost every single day.
[00:07:10] And we need Jesus to save us from our
[00:07:12] wretched depraved natural nature of um
[00:07:16] being broken. So what does that mean for
[00:07:18] you? Well, we we need all parts of the
[00:07:20] body. The first of which I believe in
[00:07:22] Galatians 3 it says that the law is a
[00:07:24] guardian or a school teacher to Christ.
[00:07:26] that for some people they are going to
[00:07:28] come to Christ by first thinking through
[00:07:30] conservative values and principles and
[00:07:32] seeing it make sense and once they start
[00:07:33] drinking from the streams of liberty
[00:07:35] they're going to want to find its source
[00:07:37] because liberty is not man's idea
[00:07:39] liberty is God's idea
[00:07:40] >> and for other people though it's
[00:07:42] outright preaching the gospel here's my
[00:07:44] last piece of advice though do not just
[00:07:46] preach the gospel and try to get
[00:07:48] converts of all nations we are called to
[00:07:50] make disciples of all nations which
[00:07:52] means you must go deep you must preach
[00:07:54] the entirety of the word of God every
[00:07:56] word. You must be expositional in the
[00:07:58] way that you do it, but you must make
[00:08:00] people understand that there is a
[00:08:02] judgment coming for all of them. There's
[00:08:04] a God who loves them that sent his son
[00:08:06] on a rescue mission to save us from
[00:08:07] that. Amen.
[00:08:08] >> And it's not just it's not just all
[00:08:10] rolling hills and loveydovey messaging.
[00:08:13] >> I'm with you. Thank you.
[00:08:14] >> Thank you, man. God bless you. Thank
[00:08:15] you. [cheering and applause]
[00:08:17] >> Hi. So I am a Catholic and I put a lot
[00:08:22] of um love for Christ in his teachings.
[00:08:26] And so since he says to render under
[00:08:28] Caesars that which is Caesars's and unto
[00:08:30] God which is God's, my fear is that we
[00:08:33] can often render unto Caesar what
[00:08:35] actually belongs to God. So I was hoping
[00:08:37] you could clarify for us and also for
[00:08:39] the people who are shouting against you
[00:08:42] in the back. Could we clarify like what
[00:08:44] like what is the social reign of Christ?
[00:08:46] What does it look like? what's your
[00:08:48] vision for it and how has your faith
[00:08:50] impacted your political beliefs?
[00:08:52] >> Yeah, that's that's a great question.
[00:08:54] Um, there is no such thing as separation
[00:08:57] of morality and state. It does not
[00:08:59] exist. Every law is a reflection of some
[00:09:01] agreed upon morality. I believe the
[00:09:03] teachings of Christianity as the
[00:09:05] founding fathers did instruct our basic
[00:09:08] moral code. The decalogue is a great
[00:09:09] place to start. The ten commandments is
[00:09:12] the is the decalogue. I believe that
[00:09:14] Christ though is even above our
[00:09:16] government. who says his kingdom is not
[00:09:17] of this world. But we should contest in
[00:09:19] the public square to do what Christ
[00:09:22] wanted us to be, which is salt and light
[00:09:24] in every domain and arena. That means
[00:09:26] protecting the unborn. That means making
[00:09:29] sure that crime is not, you know, our
[00:09:31] streets are not riddled with crime. And
[00:09:33] also the ideas of private property, the
[00:09:35] ideas of freedom of speech, the idea,
[00:09:37] these are all biblical ideas at their
[00:09:39] core. I think the American founders
[00:09:41] struck it correctly, which is that it's
[00:09:43] a Christian foundation with a free
[00:09:45] society that grows out of it.
[00:09:48] >> Okay. I just wanted to hear that. Thank
[00:09:49] you very much.
[00:09:50] >> God bless. God bless you. Thank you.
