[00:00:00] It is important for us to recognize the [00:00:04] u [00:00:06] unprecedented nature of what ICE was [00:00:08] doing in Minneapolis St. Paul. the the [00:00:12] the [00:00:14] way that [00:00:18] federal agents, ICE agents were being [00:00:20] deployed [00:00:22] without any clear [00:00:25] guidelines, training, [00:00:27] uh pulling people off, uh, you know, out [00:00:31] of their homes, using 5-year-olds to try [00:00:33] to, [00:00:35] >> uh, [00:00:35] >> bait their parents, [00:00:36] >> bait their parents, uh, all the stuff [00:00:38] that we saw, the tear gasing, crowd [00:00:42] crowds simply who were standing there [00:00:43] not breaking any laws. Um [00:00:47] so so the rogue behavior of [00:00:51] agents of the federal government we is [00:00:54] is deeply concerning and and [00:00:57] uh dangerous. But we should take a [00:01:02] moment to appreciate the extraordinary [00:01:06] uh outpouring of [00:01:10] organizing [00:01:11] community building decency. Neighbors [00:01:15] buying groceries for folks accompanying [00:01:18] children to school. [00:01:21] Teachers who were standing up for their [00:01:23] kids. [00:01:24] um you know not just randomly but in a [00:01:29] you know systematic organized way [00:01:33] citizens saying this is not the America [00:01:36] we believe in and we're going to fight [00:01:37] back and we're going to push back with [00:01:40] the truth and with cameras and with [00:01:43] peaceful protests and and shining a [00:01:47] light on [00:01:49] u the the sort of behavior that you know [00:01:53] in the past we've seen in authoritarian [00:01:56] countries and we've seen in uh [00:01:58] dictatorships but we have not seen in [00:02:00] America and that kind of heroic [00:02:06] uh sustained behavior in subzero weather [00:02:11] by ordinary people uh is what should [00:02:15] give us hope and it should should remind [00:02:18] us that at the end of the day [00:02:22] the way we get a democracy that's [00:02:23] working. The way we get policies that [00:02:26] actually uh are helping working families [00:02:30] uh you know get ahead. the way that we [00:02:34] restore norms, rule of law, decency, [00:02:38] it's going to be because we citizens are [00:02:41] activated and paying attention and [00:02:43] saying enough and saying, you know, uh [00:02:47] we have a different idea of of what uh [00:02:52] the American family should look like and [00:02:54] and and community should look
