[00:00:00] Absolutely. I am seeing nothing but love
[00:00:02] and hope on the ground. God bless y'all.
[00:00:05] This turnout has been insane.
[00:00:09] [cheering]
[00:00:10] [applause]
[00:00:11] Texas is absolutely headed for a record
[00:00:15] setting primary on the Democratic side.
[00:00:19] >> I don't know what's going to happen on
[00:00:20] that other side,
[00:00:22] >> but on the Democratic side, y'all are
[00:00:24] voting. This is so important.
[00:00:28] >> There have been so many naysayers along
[00:00:30] the way that kept saying what Texas
[00:00:32] couldn't do, especially those that don't
[00:00:34] live in Texas.
[00:00:38] >> But the people are speaking. When I look
[00:00:40] at these numbers and look at counties
[00:00:43] that are voting 200% in excess of what
[00:00:46] they historically do. This has always
[00:00:48] been a challenge about getting people to
[00:00:51] say that this is what I got to do. And
[00:00:55] to me, these numbers tell me that you
[00:00:56] understand that we are living in some of
[00:00:58] the most dangerous times of our lives.
[00:01:03] >> This isn't a ch this isn't the time to
[00:01:04] sit it out.
[00:01:06] >> This is the time to check in.
[00:01:08] >> And that's exactly what y'all are doing.
[00:01:10] Listen, it is clear that you understand
[00:01:12] the mission.
[00:01:14] >> It is also clear that you know that you
[00:01:17] deserve and can have nice things.
[00:01:21] >> [applause]
[00:01:22] >> We have probably one of the longest
[00:01:24] ballots that we've ever had.
[00:01:27] >> Now, now it takes a while.
[00:01:29] >> I get it. But honestly, it is such a
[00:01:32] blessing because for the first time
[00:01:34] since the '9s, we have people that are
[00:01:37] running up and down the ballot so that
[00:01:39] we can absolutely have touches on people
[00:01:42] consistently.
[00:01:44] The way that we are going to win
[00:01:46] ultimately is going to be that we all
[00:01:48] work together. We work together from the
[00:01:52] top all the way down to the bottom.
[00:01:55] >> We've got to make sure that people know
[00:01:57] who is on the ballot and they have to
[00:01:59] understand our values and what it is
[00:02:01] that we're fighting for. So, you ask me
[00:02:03] why I'm running.
[00:02:06] Honestly, I can tell you I didn't really
[00:02:07] want to do it.
[00:02:10] Y'all, it is tough.
[00:02:13] It is tough. We have one of the largest
[00:02:15] and most expensive states to run in. We
[00:02:18] don't quite have the infrastructure that
[00:02:20] I would hope for.
[00:02:23] Excuse me. Thank you.
[00:02:27] But in this moment, we have to ask
[00:02:29] ourselves, what are we willing to do? We
[00:02:32] have to step out on courage and we have
[00:02:33] to do the bold things.
[00:02:36] When I saw the numbers, I knew that we
[00:02:38] could get this done. In fact, just this
[00:02:40] week, yet another poll has me ahead of
[00:02:42] Kim Paxton. [cheering]
[00:02:45] [screaming]
[00:02:48] >> [applause]
[00:02:52] >> And and while I know that we typically
[00:02:54] say everything's bigger in Texas, let me
[00:02:56] tell you, this race is bigger than
[00:02:57] Texas.
[00:03:00] >> This is about our entire country.
[00:03:03] >> This seat changes the trajectory for
[00:03:05] everyone. If you will remember, it was
[00:03:08] only one vote
[00:03:10] that meant that we were going to be able
[00:03:12] to keep Obamacare.
[00:03:15] was John McCain, remember?
[00:03:18] >> Who was Senator McCain at the time?
[00:03:22] >> The votes are so incredibly important
[00:03:24] when it comes to the Senate and every
[00:03:26] single right that we are losing right
[00:03:28] now. When I track it back, it is because
[00:03:31] of the Senate.
[00:03:32] >> When I was a freshman in the state
[00:03:34] house, we broke quorum. We went to DC.
[00:03:37] Nancy Pelosi had the gavl in her hand.
[00:03:40] Nancy Pelosi was able to put the John
[00:03:42] Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act on
[00:03:45] the floor. She passed it. She did the
[00:03:47] same thing with the Freedom to Vote Act.
[00:03:50] But you know what happened in the
[00:03:51] Senate?
[00:03:53] >> Nothing.
[00:03:55] So here it is five years later, the very
[00:03:58] thing that I went to DC fighting for as
[00:04:01] a state representative.
[00:04:04] And now they decided they were going to
[00:04:05] do mid decade redistricting.
[00:04:08] mid decade redistricting that is
[00:04:10] intentionally racially discriminatory.
[00:04:13] >> And that's according to a Trump
[00:04:15] appointed justice.
[00:04:18] >> They decided that they were going to do
[00:04:19] that and they wouldn't have had an
[00:04:20] opportunity to do that just if the
[00:04:22] Senate understood the assignment and had
[00:04:26] actually passed the legislation. We also
[00:04:29] wouldn't have a Trump administration for
[00:04:31] a couple of reasons. Number one, the
[00:04:33] Freedom to Vote Act would have precluded
[00:04:35] somebody named Elon Musk from putting
[00:04:37] $250 million into the presidential.
[00:04:41] >> That's number one. Number two, the House
[00:04:45] impeached Donald Trump not once
[00:04:48] but twice.
[00:04:50] >> But do y'all understand why he was able
[00:04:52] to run again?
[00:04:54] Somebody said no.
[00:04:58] >> The answer IS THE SENATE. [laughter]
[00:05:02] THE SENATE didn't end up convicting him.
[00:05:05] >> Do y'all know why we have this Supreme
[00:05:08] Court that obviously doesn't want to
[00:05:10] follow the law right now?
[00:05:12] >> The Senate. So, here's the deal. I could
[00:05:15] have went back to DC most likely
[00:05:19] as a United States House member, but at
[00:05:22] the same time, I would have continued to
[00:05:23] file bills and weed and filed bills on
[00:05:25] top of bills on top of bills.
[00:05:28] But I want to actually effectuate
[00:05:30] change.
[00:05:32] >> And so getting something passed in the
[00:05:33] House and the things I'm fighting for
[00:05:36] are our foundational fundamental things.
[00:05:39] Getting it passed through the House and
[00:05:40] then having it go nowhere in the Senate
[00:05:43] because we don't have the numbers. It's
[00:05:45] just not an option right now when we're
[00:05:47] looking at the most corrupt
[00:05:49] administration that we have seen in our
[00:05:51] lives. [cheering]
[00:05:56] So, long story short,
[00:05:59] >> I am scared for our future.
[00:06:03] >> And as I've told people over and over,
[00:06:05] nobody is coming to save us.
[00:06:08] >> We are going to have to save ourselves.
[00:06:10] So, I'm trying to do my part.
[00:06:12] >> Absolutely.
