Subject: FW: You Are Invited To The Celebration of Heroes, Heart and Hope Gala
Ghislaine,
Last June, we witnessed the lives of five Boston Marathon victims forever changed at the Challenged Athletes
Foundation's 7th Annual Celebration of Heroes, Heart and Hope Gala. While honored on stage a mere 6
weeks after the attacks, paddles were lifted and $1.2 million was raised in a promise that these victims, and no
other challenged athlete will be denied the chance to be active. As the founder and Chairman of this event, and
a CAF Board Member, I am proud to share that this event has raised $7 million since its inception in 2007 and
has helped OAF support more than 8,200 physically challenged athletes to become whole through sports.
Each year I think this night can't be topped, but I assure you this years 8th Annual Celebration of Heroes,
Heart and Hope Gala on June 11, 2014 at the Waldorf=Astoria in New York City is one you won't want to miss.
I would like to extend a personal invitation for you to be a guest this year as we endeavor to grow stronger as
leaders, as athletes and as a community. Please join us as we once again welcome our Boston Heroes — one
year later, an infinite amount stronger. Thanks to your support from last year's event, many of these heroes
have now received running legs from CAF grants and have actually crossed the finish line at the 2014 Boston
Marathon. "Normally you walk around and you see everybody with two legs, " said survivor Celeste Corcoran,
pausing to choke back tears. "Its easy to miss yours. But when I see all of the challenged athletes walking and
running, it's OK," she said, "I just want to be able to do the things that I did before... so many people have my
back, I feel like I can do it." This year you will be meet courageous Boston Hero Celeste Corcoran along with
Alana Nichols, an adaptive skier who became paralyzed at the age of 17 and is now on track for 5 medals at
the Sochi Paralympic games, and bi-lateral amputee Braylon O'Neill, a five-year-old sports enthusiast who was
recently featured in Microsoft's #Empowering commercial during the Super Bowl.

The importance of CAF's mission, our programs and events has been acknowledged in the media worldwide
and with this increased awareness comes a greater need. We look to our generous partners to help us meet
the growing demand for support so that anyone with a physical challenge has the opportunity to grow stronger
in sports and in life.
I would be honored to have you join me this year as my guest. I have linked the relevant media pieces below
so that you can feel the pulse of this memorable evening here in NYC.
