I'm sorry for the delay. I agree that you should continue to process the Tuohy request with the USAO VI. We have not
received a similar request. Things are functioning as well as possible here, although as you say, it is amazing to see the
degree to which the NYC area can grind to a halt.

Does your office have any response? If not, I'll proceed to process the Touhy with the USAO in the GVI.
I hope all is well with you and yours. I'm from NJ, and it's tough watching this virus cut such a wide swath
through the NYC/NJ area I still consider home.

When we spoke in September, 2019, I advised you that the USMS had released the attached material in
response to a FOIA request. We felt it prudent to inform you of this, given the potential pendency of other
matters in your office related to the then-recently deceased Jeffrey Epstein.
The USMS has recently received a copy of a Touhy request from the Government of the United States Virgin
Islands (GVI) to the Office of Justice Programs and the USDO1 SMART Office that seeks information about Mr.
Epstein for potential use in a civil matter in the GVI. I have attached a copy of that letter.
I have also attached a response to that letter from the Office of Justice Programs that points out that the USMS
is the more logical recipient of this Touhy request.
I forwarded the Touhy request to the Civil Chief of the USAO/GVI, .arid I will be their USMS
POC in crafting a response. The attached material will be a significant factor in our response.
I thought the USMS should make you aware of these recent developments and the impending response to the
Touhy request in the event your office is involved in any matters involving Mr. Epstein or his estate that could be
impacted by the release of information as requested in the recent Touhy letter. Additionally, if your office has
also received a Touhy request from the GVI regarding Mr. Epstein, I thought it best that we respond in a
coordinated fashion.
If you or one of your Assistants would like to discuss this, I will be available at your convenience. E-mail is the
most reliable way to reach me quickly.
